Patent number: 7334271Abstract: An improved toilet seat lifter is provided by a hands-free toilet seat control for controlling the positions of the toilet seat comprising a safety ratchet pedal connected to a gear/wheel unit which transmits the transitional or rotational ratchet movements of the pedal into an amplified circular push and pull of a control rod connected to the toilet seat via universal joints. The swivel control bar moved by the floor level pedal characterizes the toilet seat control of an embodiment of the present invention. The gear/wheel unit is rotated in a single direction to push and pull the control rod while counteracting the gravity fall of the seat to keep control. The simple but positive transmission of the transitional or rotational ratchet movements to the control rod allows for a power-assisted actuation of the gear/wheel unit and thus the toilet seat.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2005Date of Patent: February 26, 2008Inventor: Man-Young Jung

Patent number: 7331067Abstract: A toilet seat lifting and lowering device for pivoting the seat to its raised position and for pivoting it back to its horizontal position without having to touch the seat. A first lever arm is rigidly attached at one end to a first part of a torque transfer mechanism and at its other end to a foot pedal and a second lever arm is rigidly attached at one end to a second part of the torque transfer mechanism and at its other end to the toilet seat. With the toilet seat in its horizontal position, a downward force on the pedal produces a rotation of the first part of the torque transfer mechanism which produces an opposite rotation of the second part of the torque transfer mechanism causing the toilet seat to pivot to its raised position. Lifting the pedal, preferably by providing an upward force under the pedal, lowers the seat to the horizontal position.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2005Date of Patent: February 19, 2008Assignee: NoTouch Systems, Inc.Inventors: William P. Publication number: 20080034484Abstract: A toilet seat structure including a toilet seat, a link, a pedal and a fixing plate can be lifted up through the pedal. The toilet seat is connected to one end of the link. The other end of the link is pivoted on the pedal. A middle of a bottom surface of the pedal is mounted with the fixing plate. Stamping the pedal can raise the other end to move the link and push the toilet seat to rotate upward according to the connection structure. When the pedal is loosened, the toilet seat automatically restores to be horizontally placed on a toilet bowl to make the link and the pedal restore. Thus, the cleanliness and sanitation of the toilet seat can be kept, and the position of the toilet seat can be conveniently changed by the stamping foot.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2006Publication date: February 14, 2008Inventor: Yung-Chung Chen

Publication number: 20080010733Abstract: A device for automatically lowering a toilet seat. A lowering finger, in slidable connection with a cylinder like chamber, is utilized to create a vacuum in a chamber. The vacuum pressure varies from a metering valve system that thus propels the finger toward the seat in a controlled manner in order to affect a complete lowering of the seat.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 17, 2006Publication date: January 17, 2008Inventor: Kenneth E. Patent number: 7316037Abstract: The seat lifter is for lifting a toilet seat. The seat lifter includes a foot pedal, cables, pulleys, a base, spring hinge, lifting arm, cable blocks, and a counter weight. The hinge holds the base down on to the toilet with its mounting hardware. The whole mechanism is held to the toilet by the toilet seat mounting holes in the toilet bowl. The seat is always in the down position until the foot pedal is depressed. Once the foot pedal is depressed a cable is pulled against the cable block then a small diameter pulley is rotated on a shaft that is pinned to a larger diameter pulley (this pulley assembly is called a reduction spool because it takes a small movement of the foot pedal to make a large enough movement to raise the seat to the proper height). The larger pulley then pulls a longer cable, that pulls a cable block mounted to a lifting arm with a counter weight, which pulls the arm down, that in turn moves a spring hinge attached to the seat. The seat is now in the lifted position.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2005Date of Patent: January 8, 2008Inventor: Jerry Lee Wilkinson

Publication number: 20070289055Abstract: The Toilet Seat Handle is a round cylinder 6 inches long and ¾ inches in diameter with one end rounded off. The rounded end will be visible once the handle has been attached to the toilet seat. (see FIG. 3). The opposite end will have the inside portion of the cylinder flattened so that it will apply to the underside of the toilet seat. The flattened area of the cylinder will measure 2½ inches. (see FIG. 2) The self sticking adhesive will hold the flattened part of the toilet seat handle to the underside of the toilet seat. The flattened area will fit snuggly against the outside edge of the toilet seat. The cylinder part will be sticking out on the side of the toilet creating an instant toilet seat handle.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 14, 2006Publication date: December 20, 2007Inventor: Page L. Shuff

Patent number: 7293297Abstract: An automatic lifting and lowering device for a toilet seat or a toilet cover usable for a toilet seat provided with a function of washing a body with hot water, which requires reduced size and weight, includes a rotating shaft (40) rotated together with the toilet seat or the toilet cover, a drive motor (32) rotating the rotating shaft (40) in normal and reverse directions, and a speed reduction gear train (33). The drive force of the drive motor (32) is transmitted to the rotating shaft (40) through the speed reduction gear train (33) to automatically lift and lower the toilet seat or toilet cover, whereby the automatic lifting and lowering device itself can be formed compact by using a planetary gear mechanism for the speed reduction gear train (33).Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2003Date of Patent: November 13, 2007Assignee: Toto, Ltd.Inventors: Ryosuke Hayashi, Yoshiro Terada, Hiroomi Miyamoto, Kenji Hashidume

Patent number: 7281277Abstract: A pedal actuated seat lifter has a mounting plate fastened between a toilet bowl and its seat using existing bolts holding the seat in place. A floor pedal transmits lifting force through a chain or the like to a lever and lifting arm hinged to the mounting plate. The seat lifter can be provided as a kit of parts for relatively simple assembly and installation on an existing toilet fixture without use of adhesives or alteration of the toilet fixture, the floor or walls.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2003Date of Patent: October 16, 2007Inventor: Toshi K.
