  • Patent number: 6601241
Abstract: A toilet seat lifter includes a seat lifter, a foot pedal actuator, and an actuation cable. The seat lifter includes a lifter base and at least one lifter arm. The lifter base is retained between a toilet a toilet seat assembly on one end thereof. The at least one lifter arm is rotatably retained by the lifter base on the other end thereof. The at least one lifter arm is placed under the toilet seat. The foot pedal actuator includes a base, a foot pedal, and a spring loaded disc. The spring loaded disc is rotatably retained by the base. One end of the foot pedal is pivotally attached to the base and other end rotates the spring loaded disc. One end of the cable is attached to the spring loaded disc and the other end is attached to the at least one lifter arm. When a user pushes the foot pedal down the cable rotates the at least one lifter arm to raise the toilet seat.

Abstract: A grasping handle for a toilet seat includes a base unit having an inner lip and a slidable handle unit having an outer lip. The handle unit telescopes into the base unit. In a preferred embodiment, the handle unit includes a pair of toothed prongs which engage matching teeth on the interior of the base unit. The lips grasp the inner and outer perimeters of the toilet seat between them and the spacing is held by the engagement of the teeth. A release mechanism includes plungers which bias the prongs away from the interior walls, disengaging the teeth. In an alternative embodiment, the prongs include a cross member which carries a torsion spring with arms that engage the base unit interior walls. The torsion spring biases the handle into a fully telescoped condition and thereby exerts a spring force to keep a toilet seat grasped between the inner and outer lips.

  • Patent number: 6567995
Abstract: A toilet seat lifting device that allows a user to lift or lower a toilet seat without have to touch the seat with his or her hands. The device has a rope assembly: and a wall mounted plate assembly. The rope assembly extends from the toilet seat to the plate assembly, and controls positioning of the seat. The rope assembly includes an elongated piece of rope having two ends, a loop between the ends, and a pair of clamps se curable to the toilet seat. Each rope end is attached to one of the clamps. The plate assembly has an elongated base, a top hook, a bottom hook, and U-shaped guides. In order to lower the toilet seat, the rope loop is extended upward towards the top hook, under the guides. To lift the seat, the loop is pulled downward over the top surface of the guide toward the bottom hook. To maintain the seat in the lifted position, the loop is secured around the bottom hook.
