  • Patent number: 6634035
Abstract: A plunger for use in manually pushing garbage down through the drain of a sink. The plunger is formed of a material that is sufficient light in weight for ease of use but also sufficiently hard to push the garbage. The plunger has a cylindrical shank that carries opposite bulbous distal ends. The distal ends have diameters which are sized larger than the shank so that a user can grasp either end to use as a hand hold while the other end pushes the garbage. The distal ends are shaped with flat pushing surfaces that have peripheral edges that are rounded to provide a smooth low friction action over the drain.

  • Publication number: 20030079278
Abstract: The present toilet and sink drain plunger seals either around or in a toilet or sink drain hole despite the hole's size, configuration and location. The plunger includes an elongated upstanding handle connected to the top of a depending, preferably frusto-conical, open bottomed bellows in the sidewalls of which are formed a vertically stacked series of interconnected horizontal pleats. The plunger further includes a series of toilet drain hole seals connected to each other and to the bottom of the bellows to form a unitary whole depending below the bellows. The seals are of progressively smaller size from the uppermost to the lowermost and all feature inwardly and downwardly curved sealing surfaces. The seals are rings or doughnuts molded into the plunger body. The bottommost seal bears a short vertical small diameter annular wall depending therefrom and which acts both as a seal and a seat for the plunger.

  • Patent number: 6550074
Abstract: An affordable plumbing device that uses a compressed gas and a burst disk having a relatively even surface of substantially uniform thickness to produce a sudden discharge of energy to forcibly act against any obstruction that may interfere with the proper function of a drain. The plumbing device has a cylindrical chamber for receiving the compressed gas and may generally take the shape of a plunger, which is flexible to use and is easy to store. A portion of the chamber forms a receiving chamber with the burst disk for harnessing and directing the energy of the compressed gas to clear the drain.

  • Publication number: 20020100705
Abstract: A toilet plunger storage device includes a fluid-impervious receptacle to receive an elastomeric suction head portion of a toilet plunger and a cover fitted to the receptacle that receives the handle portion of the plunger. The receptacle includes a conical side wall from which a straight-sided cylindrical portion projects upwardly. The cover has a generally conical member at its lower end and an elongate, hollow, tapered tube that projects from the upper end of the conical member. The upper end of the cylindrical portion and the lower end of the cover are configured to engage each other in bayonet-type telescopic fashion to establish a sealing and locking relationship. A first handle extends from the side of the receptacle and a second handle is disposed at the top of the cover. The device can be formed integrally from a conventional plastics material such as high density polypropylene or polyethylene in a single, inexpensive molding operation.

  • Patent number: 6393626
Abstract: A plunger device for unblocking a clogged drain or pipe, comprises a valve housing interposed between a handle and a suction cup; a valve seat having an opening for communicating the cup with the housing; a fluid outlet formed in the housing to provide a fluid path to the outside of the device; a valve ball positioned in the housing to close said opening of the valve seat and said fluid outlet when said ball is positioned on the seat, a bolt moveable in said housing to abut said ball for locking the ball between the bolt and said seat, thereby causing fluid under pressure to flow in one direction-into the clogged drain, the bolt being movable away from said ball to unlock the ball and open said fluid outlet, said ball moving freely inside the valve housing when said ball is unlocked, thereby enabling fluid to flow in the opposite direction only—out from the clogged drain; and switch means associated with the bolt and lock and unlock the valve ball when clearing the clogged drain.

  • Patent number: 6381763
Abstract: A plunger for clearing a clogged drain. The plunger includes a cup, a user-gripping handle, and a water-shielding cap. The cup is resiliently collapsible and has an uppermost wall with air-escaping throughbores that allow air trapped in the cup to escape therethrough when the cup is driven downwardly over the clogged drain so as to increase hydraulic efficiency of water in the clogged drain. The user-gripping handle extends upwardly from the cup. The water-shielding cap is attached to the user-gripping handle, just above the cup. The diameter of the water-shielding cap is such so as to allow the water-shielding cap to extend radially outwardly past the air-escaping throughbores so as to shield a user from the water escaping with the air when the cup is driven downwardly over the clogged drain.

  • Patent number: 6241091
Abstract: A decorative container is adapted for receiving and storing a plumbing plunger in a generally upright position. The decorative container includes a base which has a bottom wall and a sidewall. The sidewall extends upwardly from the bottom wall by a predetermined distance and extends around a perimeter of the bottom wall. The sidewall has a supporting lip which extends around a perimeter of the sidewall. A first part of the sidewall of the base proximate to the supporting lip has a first slot extending through the sidewall. The supporting lip extends over the first slot and at least partially conceals the first slot from being externally viewed. The container also includes a cover which has a lower end and a sidewall and which is releasably positioned on the supporting lip. • Patent number: 6216283
Abstract: A toilet bowl plunger for use with a new narrow throat 1.6 gallon toilet that can be used equally well with older toilets. The head portion of the plunger is a pleated bellows consisting of two sections, a conically tapering section and a constant average diameter section. The conically tapering section has larger diameter at the rear end of the head and tapers down to a narrower diameter in a direction away from the rear end of the head. The bellows then continues into the constant diameter section in a direction away from the rear end and towards the front end of the head. The constant diameter section resembles an elephant-like trunk or nose. When inserted into the toilet bowl, the constant diameter section of the bellows head penetrates into the throat, while a forward end of the tapered section seats over the outer perimeter of the mouth of the throat. The constant diameter section or nose of the head curves to follow the path of the throat.

  • Patent number: 6192525
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved household drain plunger for use with household drains of various shapes and sizes. The head section of the plunger is a pleated bellows consisting of a conical upper section of increasing diameter from top to bottom, and a smaller lower section, also conical, of decreasing diameter from top to bottom. A handle extends from the top of the head section. The bottom end of the plunger consists of three levels of seals depending from the bottom of the head section. The first and bottommost seal is a dual-function seal designed both to fit snugly into a typical kitchen sink drain opening, thereby providing a mechanical seal. This first seal also has a flat bottom comprising an annular ring that can be placed around a small drain hole opening, such as that in a bathroom sink or tub, to provide a pressure/suction seal with the drain opening. The annular ring has a center void which opens to the interior of the bellows.
