Abstract: A vehicle instrument cluster for indicating a value of a vehicle parameter. The vehicle instrument cluster includes a display member formed of a transparent material and display segments integrally formed within the display member. The display segments are configured to diffuse light and the display segments form at least a portion of indicia associated with the vehicle parameter. A first illumination system has a light source and a motor connected to an optical member. The optical member is movable in response to a change in the value of the vehicle parameter. The optical member selectively directs the light from the light source to within the display member to illuminate at least a portion of the display segments that form the indicia to indicate the value of the vehicle parameter.

Abstract: A light-emitting sign device is provided, in which optimum scattering of light from a light source is ensured, light loss can be reduced to a minimum, uniform and bright emission is made possible, and visibility and cost efficiency are improved. A sign plate having a sign surface is provided, and a light-diffusing plate, light guide plate, and white reflecting plate are arranged in this order on the rear surface of the sign plate. A light-scattering layer that scatters the light from the light source is coated on the rear surface of the light guide plate. The light-scattering layer has a binder layer composed of a coating composition using a transparent resin as a binder. A filler in the form of transparent and substantially spherical fine particles of silica is uniformly dispersed in the binder layer.

Abstract: A light guide plate includes a light incident surface for receiving light, first and second light emission surfaces for emitting light at a first light emission angle with respect to the first and second light emission surfaces, and a light reflection pattern formed on the first light emission surface, for reflecting the light toward the second light emission surface. The reflected light from the light reflection pattern exits the second light emission surface at a second light emission angle with respect to the second light emission surface, and the second light emission angle is larger than the first light emission angle. The light reflection pattern includes multiple dots each having a prim pattern on their surface and light reflecting surfaces elongated in a selected direction. The adjacent light reflecting surfaces meet each other at their elongated edges to form a prism shape.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an illuminated signboard using a plane light source in which edges of two light guide plates are cut in an inclined form, an opaque plate having high surface reflectivity is inserted between the two light guide plates to optically block the two light guide plates from each other, and the light guide plates and the opaque plate are combined to form a second lighting part. U-shaped frames including LEDs are connected to construct a frame housing and the second lighting part is combined with the frame housing. Light emitted from the LEDs and transmitted in the light guide plates is dispersed by a dispersing mechanism formed on the backsides of the light guide plates using paint, print ink or engraving to transmit the light guide plates and graphics or natural color pictures formed on transparent plates attached to the outer sides of the light guide plates so as to illuminate the graphics or the natural color pictures.
