Various forms of the devices employ a cable that is sized to be wrapped around a circumference of a portion of the living tree and engaged by at least one friction generating member to retain the cable attached to the portion of the living tree without human intervention until another circumference of the portion of the living tree exceeds a length of the cable to enable the cable to automatically disengage the portion of the living tree without the human intervention.

Abstract: An advertising medium includes a frame enclosing a traffic signal control cabinet. Tie rods extend between lock devices, which are secured to rails of the frame such that removing the frame from its position around the cabinet is prevented. As a result, advertising material may be secured to a traffic signal control cabinet without intruding upon or modifying the cabinet.

Abstract: A method of increasing the stability of a corrugated display apparatus defining a plurality of lower openings and having a plurality of walls at least partially defining a plurality of channels, each with a channel width, spanning from one of the plurality of lower openings toward an upper end of the display apparatus, the method including providing a cutting device with a handle length and a blade member coupled along the handle length, cutting a portion of at least one of the plurality of walls with the blade member to combine two of the plurality of channels adjacent to the cut portion of the at least one of the plurality of walls to create an enlarged channel, and inserting a post-like member into the enlarged channel, the post-like member securely retained within the enlarged channel.

Abstract: A system and method of covering a bollard with removeable advertising. The bollard cover comprises a sock that has graphics printed on it which has a retention mechanism near an open end to releaseably couple the sock to the bollard. Preferably the sock is made of a flexible, stretchable fabric and the retention mechanism is made of elastic. In a preferred embodiment, the fabric sock is longer than the bollard is tall and is made of flexible material that stretches in both directions. When the fabric sock is used in combination with a rigid sleeve over the bollard, the excess sock is caught between the sleeve and the bollard such that, as the sleeve and sock are pushed down over the bollard, the sock is tightened, presenting a smooth graphic design that looks as if it is painted on the bollard.

Abstract: An outdoor art-post assembly includes an elongate support pole, an art post, and at least one mounting mechanism. The elongate support pole has a lower portion and an auger disposed at the lower portion. The auger allows for vertical installation of the support pole in soil in response to manual rotation of the support pole. The art post has an inner surface defining a bore. The bore is capable of receiving at least a portion of the elongate support pole. The art post also has an outer surface including decorative indicia thereon. The mounting mechanism is located on the support pole and has protruding portions extending away from the support pole. The protruding portions are configured to contact the inner surface of the art post and affix the art post relative to the support pole. Methods of assembling the same are also disclosed.

The wire support may be attached to an upright bracket and inserted into a substantially hollow upright member of a retail merchandise display or the wire support may be attached to a stringer which extends horizontally between two upright members of the retail merchandise display.

Abstract: A sign assembly includes a mount adapted to be fastened to a vertically oriented surface and a horizontal support having one end affixed to the mount and extending therefrom in cantilevered fashion. A first vertical rod is affixed to and extends vertically upward from the horizontal support, and a second vertical rod is affixed to and extends vertically upward from the horizontal support and laterally disposed from the first vertical rod. A placard having at least one surface adapted for the display of an advertising message thereon is affixed to the first and the second vertical rods.

Abstract: A sign assembly includes a base, a pair of spring members, and a panel. The spring members include a resilient portion that includes attachment means at a first end to enable attachment of the spring member to the base. The spring members also include a generally straight rod that extends from a second end of the resilient portion. The panel defines a pair of openings at a lower edge configured to slidably receive the rod of the spring members. The amount by which the rod slides into the panel is configured to secure the panel in an upright position.

Abstract: A rotating adapter attaches a secondary sign to a primary sign. A first insert component includes an extended tine and a second insert component also has an extended tine. The second insert component may also include a shaft sleeve. A connection shaft is coupled to the first insert component, and is configured to insert within the shaft sleeve of the second insert component and defines an axis about which the second insert component may rotate. The extended tines of the first insert component fixedly couple with the primary sign and the extended tines of the second insert component fixedly couple with the secondary sign.

Abstract: An advertising system for a bollard includes a bollard shield that can be installed over a conventional bollard. The bollard shield includes a shield inner diameter greater than the bollard outer diameter, forming a shield gap between the bollard and the bollard shield. One or more compressible foam pads are positioned in the shield gap between the bollard and the bollard shield. A resilient bollard sheath can be rolled onto the bollard shield. The bollard sheath includes advertising or graphical materials disposed thereon. The bollard sheath is generally replaceable without replacing the entire bollard shield. A removable sheath panel may be detachably secured on the bollard sheath to provide additional advertising or graphical material. The sheath panel may be interchangeably and replaced with additional sheath panels having different advertising information.

Each sleeve is open at a first end to receive the respective support pole and closed at a second end opposite the first end to retain the sign portion on the support poles when the support poles are inserted into the sleeves in order to removably attach the sign portion to the support poles such that the support poles physically support the sign portion.

The display element includes a base body having a recess for inserting advertising media in a flat manner and fastening elements for fastening the display element on the handle bar, or the handle bar mounts, of a shopping cart. The display element is made of half shell-shaped parts, which in the joined state surround the handle bar, or the handle bar mount, in the shape of an enclosed box profile. The half shell-shaped parts are non-positively or positively connected to the handle bar.

Abstract: A post cover with advertising for use with a substantially semi-circular guard post of the type commonly found surrounding fuel pumps at gasoline stations. The post cover has a substantially semi-circular shape with an interior cavity dimensioned to receive a generally semi-circular guard post in slip fit engagement. The cover is generally molded of a resilient, durable, low maintenance and exposure resistant structural plastic that can be treated during the molding process with coloring agents and chemical additives to enhance its esthetic and resiliency character respectively.

Abstract: A tab extending from a panel is inserted into a channel through an opening in a vertically aligned bracket supported by a pole. The bracket includes a pair of plates positioned in spaced overlying relation and connected by a brace to form the channel between the plates. The panel is first moved in a vertical direction until an upper tab is inserted through a slot formed by a stop positioned in the channel at a predetermined distance from the brace. The upper tab guides a notch in the panel to receive the stop until the stop contacts the bottom of the notch. Thereafter the panel is rotated in the channel until a lower tab is aligned with a second slot formed by a second stop at the opposite end of the channel. The panel is further moved until the second tab is positioned in the second slot to guide a second notch in the panel to receive the second stop and securely retain the panel in the bracket channel.

Abstract: A sign system is disclosed in which a flexible sign panel is supported by light weight frame numbers such as fiberglass ribs joined together with a pivot connection. A sign panel of flexible material has a center section disposed between a pair of opposed sign panel portions. The center portion of the sign panel engages a cross member with the sign panel portions being folded over on either side of an upright support member. Free ends of the sign panel member are secured with a stretchable elastic cord, ribbon or the like, to a mounting member having a socket for receiving one end of the vertical support member. By engaging the mounting member and stretching the elastic cords, the mounting member is disposed over one end of the vertical support and one released, engages the vertical support holding the sign panel portions in a display position.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system for decorating architectural columns. The system includes opposing dowels that are contained within cylindrical housings. Banner-type decorations extend between the cylindrical housings. The cylindrical housings also include upper and lower access openings. Strap assemblies are also included that extend around the dowels via the access openings. The banner-type decorations are secured to the face of an architectural column by securing the upper and lower strap assemblies.

Abstract: A display sign apparatus includes a sign panel having opposed surfaces, each of the surfaces providing a locale for displaying a selected message to viewers. The panel preferably is in the form of a first and second panel section that are connected together such as adhered with an adhesive such as glue. Each of the first and second panel sections provides grooves that are receptive of rods. A support structure enables the panel to be supported in an upright position. The support structure can include as an example a horizontal member and a vertical member. The support structure can for example be an inverted L shaped post having a vertical section that is embedded in the earth and a horizontal section that extends laterally and generally horizontally from the vertical section. One or more rods extends through grooves of the panels to support the sign panel in an upright, vertical position. At least one of the rods extends vertically through the panel section that provides horizontal grooves.

The attention-attracting device includes a stand (10) equipped with an air blower (70), one or a plurality of telescopic poles (20) standing on the stand (10), an envelope (30) attached to the stand (10) and covering the telescopic poles (20), a frame (40) attached to the telescopic pole (20) and inside of the envelope (30), and a lamp (50) attached to the frame (40) (or to the middle position of the telescopic pole or the upper portion of the stand), the lamp (50) being connected electrically with an electronic ballast (11).

Abstract: The improved sign/banner support is comprised of two parallel banner rods, each parallel to the vertical axis of a round or polygonal pole and each terminating in a cincture dimensioned to compressibly clinch the pole. The banner rods and cincture are comprised of a single length of a springable wire material. The rods are spaced to form an opening whereby the improved banner support may be presented to the pole. When mounted on the pole, the banner rods abut against the pole while the cincture forms an acute angle with respect to the vertical axis of the pole.

Abstract: A wire frame for supporting a corrugated plastic sheet sign is disclosed. The improved wire frame has a transverse bar or bars that are of a greater diameter or thickness than the upper parts of the frame that connect with openings of the corrugated plastic sheet sign.

The dual mode stability of the spring eliminates the need for complex latching mechanisms thereby simplifying the device manufacture and device reliability. The spring is stable in either a linear or coiled state enabling the simplified design of rolling, hinging and feeding mechanisms. A plan or map rolling and presentation device incorporates a bi-stable snap action ribbon spring along with optional spring end caps and stiffening elements. The plan or map is driven to a stable coiled or stable rolled shape by the influence of the snap action spring. Application of the snap spring properties to a discreet length of a longer ribbon can create a hybrid bi-stable hinge mechanism. A convenient storage container utilizes the bi-stable characteristics of a snap action ribbon spring to create a container having a self-closing and captured lid.

Abstract: A golf marking flag for attachment to a supporting upright pole having flag attachment means comprising a linear sleeve adapted to loosely slip over the upright pole to enable unobstructed rotation of the flag in response to wind direction along with a flexible tab secured to the top of the linear sleeve and adapted to rotatably engage an upwardly extending narrow pin located at the top of the upright pole. The flexible tab contains an opening larger than the narrowed upright extension to enable free rotation of the tab around the narrowed extension, while the opening is smaller than the upright pole to enable the larger pole to vertically support the marking flag. The flexible tab supports the marking flag on the upright pole while the sleeve enables rotation of the marking flag about the upright pole. The golf marking flag can be attached directly to an upright pole or adapted to be interconnected to an intervening swivel harness to provide indirect connection to the upright pole.

Depending upon the process used, the article may be fabricated as a unitary structure, or components may be joined through any suitable form of attachment process, including the use of adhesives and/or welding. The message may be supported to the sleeve in a variety of ways, depending upon the need for interchangeability vs. permanence. In the preferred embodiment, the signage is fully integrated into the upped end through the use of decals, which are included in the mold and integrally formed with the article during the molding process.
