    Abstract: A pencil mechanism replaces a ballpoint pen refill and has an actuator for containing lead. A point of the mechanism is slidably mounted to the actuator and has a shoulder to engage a step in the pen when an end of the point projects from a writing end of the pen. The point has an open end for projecting the writing tip of the lead and a bushing for frictionally engaging the lead in the point to allow for, but resist axial movement of the lead. A point spring between actuator and point biases them apart and a clutch is slidably mounted to the actuator and point. The clutch has fingers for receiving lead and the actuator engages the clutch to close the fingers and fix the lead. Further forward movement of the actuator projects a writing tip of the lead from the pen as the shoulder engages the step to fix the writing tip in a writing position. The actuator is movable rearwardly for releasing the clutch and the lead and allowing the clutch to move rearwardly in the pen for a repeat of the lead feeding cycle.

    Abstract: The present glass cleaning tool is a small, handheld, easily stored device having a self-contained supply of cleaning fluid stored therein and an applicator head for applying the fluid to a glass surface. The applicator head is stored within the storage handle of the device when the device is not in use. An attachment mechanism extends between the storage handle and the applicator head to secure the head to the handle and to allow the head to be extended from its storage location within the handle to its deployed position across the end of the handle, with the handle and head forming a T-shaped configuration. The device is particularly well-suited for carriage in an interior storage area of a motor vehicle for use in cleaning cigarette smoke film, fingerprint smears, and other contaminants from the interior of the windshield and other glass surfaces in the vehicle.

    Abstract: A writing implement 1 includes a sensor 11 and control circuitry 13 so that when the writing implement is brought into close proximity with an input screen, the writing tip 3 of the writing implement 1 is prevented from delivering ink to the input screen. This may be achieved in one embodiment by retracting the writing tip within the body of the writing implement, or by extending a stylus tip 20 beyond the writing tip 3. In other embodiments, ink can be prevented from delivered to the input screen by a mechanism which disengages an ink reservoir 5 from the writing tip 3 of the writing implement 1 and/or, in the case of a ball-point pen type writing tip 3, electromagnets 26 can be arranged to prevent rotation of an ink delivery ball 22.

A pitch of the follower screw portion is greater than that of the driver screw portion so that the amount of front-and-back movement of the refill tank is greater than that of the sliding axial tube per rotation. When the sheath and the body are rotated, the tip of a ball-point pen refill removably received within the refill tank is projected beyond, or received within, the pen.

    Abstract: A Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) with retractable stylus comprises a retractable stylus, a housing, a stylus slot, and a push portion, wherein a contact pad is attached to the inner side of the push portion. The retractable stylus comprises a pen shaft having a release button, a pen body having an opening, and a spring situated inside the pen body. When an external force is applied to the pen shaft downward, the spring is compressed until the opening holding the release button; thus, the stylus is shortened. When the release button is set free from the opening, the spring elasticity ejects the pen shaft upward; thus, the stylus returns to the full-length condition. If the stylus is kept in the stylus slot, an external force applied to the push portion can make the contact pad press the release button; so the pen shaft is ejected upward by spring elasticity.
