  • Patent number: 5664899
Abstract: A joint for the seat side rail and rear leg or other furniture joint is disclosed. A bolt extends through a first bore forwardly through the leg and then through a second bore into the rear end of the rail. A tapped bar is inserted transversely into a pocket in the rail to receive the forward end of the bolt. The bolt is pre-stressed to put the joint under compression throughout. Preferably the bolt is bonded by adhesive to the first and second bores and the bar into its socket to form a composite of the leg, rail, bolt and bar. The joint is made superior to conventional dowelled joints by inserting in aligned bores extending into the rail and leg in opposite directions from the joint a metallic rod which is twice as long as the width of the rail and cementing the rod within the bores. The rod and/or bore may be roughened to promote adherence of the cement to the rod and wooden members.

  • Patent number: 5417518
Abstract: An improved keeper pin mount and method for releasably locking an excavation tooth to an adaptor of an excavation bucket. The keeper pin has a wedge block and a wedge. The wedge block has a shear pin and a single replaceable tooth. The wedge has a series of teeth that progressively engage the single tooth of the wedge block. The single tooth has a spring steel projection bonded to a rubber block. This block is removably received in a recess in the wedge block. The rubber block bears against the adjacent inner surface of the recess of the wedge block. The wedge block is first put into place in the hole provided for the keeper pin; then the wedge is inserted in the hole, and the teeth progressively move past the single tooth of the wedge block. The resilience of the rubber block to which the single tooth is bonded allows the wedge block to be driven past the teeth of the wedge until the keeper pin is tightly in place. This causes the spring tooth of the wedge block to engage one of the teeth of the wedge.

The side units and bottom unit are attached together via fastener pins. Each pin has radially protruding serrations and the serrations along each end length of each pin are oppositely disposed. Each pin is inserted into a pair of partial bores thereby locking the interfacing surfaces together. The knock-down wheelbarrow also includes a pair of support beams and each support beam includes a partial bore on a top surface, a partial bore on a bottom surface and a lateral through bore at a fore end of the beam. The wheelbarrow also includes a pair of legs having top end interfacing surfaces with partial bores therein. Fastener pins attach each leg to the bottom surface of a support beam.

  • Patent number: 5022777
Abstract: A connector sleeve device for connecting together first and second posts comprises a sleeve having an outer surface dimensioned to be received within the interior surfaces of the first and second posts. A first flexible protrusion is formed in a mid-region of the sleeve and has an abutment surface adapted to abut an end surface of the first post when the sleeve is received therein. The contact between the abutment surface and the end surface prevents the sleeve from being moved further into the first post. A second flexible protrusion is formed in the mid-region of the sleeve and has a second abutment surface adapted to abut an end surface of the second post when the sleeve is inserted into the second post. The contact between the second abutment surface and the end surface of the second post prevents the sleeve from being moved further into the second post.

Abstract: An endless belt formed by a connector and a finite length of hollow tubing or solid tubing with recesses at each end. The connector is characterized by a biting edge that has a larger diameter than the inside diameter of the tubing. It is readily flexible away from the direction of insertion of the edge of the tube. The biting edge is formed as a feathered or an erose outlying portion of the base at each of two gripping heads. Once the gripping heads are inserted tension on the tubing causes the feathered edges and adjacent portions of the gripping head to bite into the internal wall of the tubing and form an improved grip therewith.

The bricks in the row above are offset from the bricks in the row below so the recesses in the left of the brick of the row above, line up with the recesses in the right half of the brick of the row below. The pattern continues with each succeeding row so the finished wall has rows of staggered bricks, with recesses lining up from the top of the wall to the bottom. Coupling fasteners are inserted in the recesses of each brick as each row of bricks is laid, and spacers are placed between each row of bricks to hold the brick apart for filling the spaces in with mortar after the entire wall has been assembled.
