  • Patent number: 4731896
Abstract: A toothbrush having two arms pivotally jointed with cleansing means at the other extremities of both arms. The jointed section comprises several methods for manipulating and indexing the arms relative to each other to permit brushing in various parts of the mouth. The jointed section is composed of bifurcated bridging members for one arm, and an accommodating bar at the other arm disposed to lie between the bridging members. The bridging members and bar are pivotally held together by a control pin which can be manipulated to permit one arm to move relative to the other. The bar and bridging members may be frictionally in contact with each other or can be connected thru gearing and socket devices each disposed to function through special control pins for causing the engagement and disengagement of the said gear and socket devices. Simple finger manipulation of the controlling pin causes selective indexing of the toothbrush arms relative to each other.

Abstract: The invention relates to a hinge for pivotally mounting flood lamps. The hinge includes a first and second knuckle. The first knuckle has an internally threaded socket. The second knuckle includes a first part and a second part, and the parts are interlocked for simultaneous rotation. The first part further has a rotation resisting surface facing the first knuckle. The hinge further includes a pair of shroud members, which each have counterbored aperatures therethrough and are arrange on each side of the second knuckle. There is a pair of threaded hinge pins, one each passing through a shourd member and a part of the second knuckle and threadably received in the first knuckles threaded socket. Loosening the threaded hinge pins permits relative rotation of the knuckles while tightening of the threaded hinge pins fixer the angular orientation of the hinge. The counterbores of the shrouds make difficult uninvited (i.e. vandalism) tampering of the hinge.

  • Patent number: 4582445
Abstract: A pair of joint halves each include substantially cylindrical joint portions and end portions. Aligned openings are formed through the joint portions to receive therethrough a connecting pin which connects the joint halves together into a articulable joint. The connecting pin includes teeth on its outer surface sized to mate with teeth formed in the aligned openings of the joint halves. • Patent number: 4138838
Abstract: A locking mechanism for the height adjusting suspension system of side delivery rake is disclosed. A support trunnion bearing for the rotatable axially-adjustable height control rod of a rake has at least one crown thereon to cooperatively engage a mating washer which is biased into contact therewith by a compression suspension spring to thereby impede relative rotational movement between the rod and the bearing.

  • Patent number: 4053248
Abstract: A coupling flange on a torque transmitting shaft or the like for coupling in face-to-face relationship with a counter-flange has at least two tooth systems on its coupling surface and each system comprising a plurality of substantially parallel axially projecting teeth having inclined flanks. At least one tooth in each tooth system has a different height, spacing or shape from the other teeth in the tooth system and the tooth systems are engagable with a complementary configuration on the counter-flange so as to connect nonrotatably the flanges.

  • Patent number: 4026614
Abstract: A bearing assembly having a rolling contact bearing affixed to a housing, an outer race fixed to the housing and an inner race, wherein a driving member, the inner race and a driven member are clamped together by a through-bolt extending through the driving member, the inner bore of the inner race and the driven member. At least one end face of the inner race is provided with axially extending teeth. A stepped sleeve is placed between said one end face and the respective member at that one end face, the stepped sleeve having an axially extending projection and being deformable by engagement with the teeth for positive engagement therebetween. The respective member has a recess into which the projection extends, the stepped sleeve extending into and positively engaging the bore of the inner race.

  • Patent number: 4019708
Abstract: A swivel mount includes a support bracket including a pair of parallel swivel arms spaced apart to accommodate a loudspeaker assembly therebetween, and having coaxial openings therethrough respectively carrying therein two plunger-actuated expansion type fasteners, the expansible portions of which extend inwardly from the swivel arms. Two swivel members are respectively fixedly secured to opposite sides of the loudspeaker assembly, each having a hollow cylindrical portion receiving therein the expansible portion of the adjacent fastener for support thereon and for rotational and axial movement with respect thereto. Each swivel member carries detent teeth and is axially movable for meshing engagement thereof with complementary detent teeth on the adjacent swivel arm for preventing relative rotational movement of the swivel member and swivel arm.

  • Patent number: 3950027
Abstract: An armrest for dental chairs and the like can be rotated 90.degree. in a horizontal plane about a vertical axis to permit easier entry and exit of a patient to and from the chair. The armrest is automatically locked at either the forward position or the 90.degree. position and is unlocked simply by lifting vertically on the armrest. A single set screw for connecting the armrest to the dental chair not only makes the armrest operable but also allows the armrest to be offered as an optional feature of the dental chair.
