With Stopping Upon Completion Of Prescribed Operation Patents (Class 408/14)
  • Patent number: 4272215
Abstract: A surface of a wedge acts as a stop to limit travel of a spindle on an automatic riveting machine. A drive mechanism moves the wedge back and forth to vary the heighth of the wedge, and the same mechanism simultaneously moves a rod back and forth to act on a transducer, and transmit an electrical signal to give a digital readout of the change in heighth of the wedge.

  • Patent number: 4256422
Abstract: In a drilling machine, a rod-like stop member is mounted on the machine housing for limiting the extent to which a tool held in the machine can drill into a receiving surface. A handle lever, fitted on the housing, releasably locks the stop member in the desired position. The handle lever is pivotally mounted on the housing and has a specially shaped end surface which, in cooperation with a pressure plate, affords the locking engagement with the stop member. The locking engagement is provided by corrugated surfaces on the pressure plate and the stop member. The specially shaped end surface assures that the locked engagement cannot be released until a form-locking engagement between the pressure plate and stop member is overcome.

  • Patent number: 4245938
Abstract: A device for controlling and positioning a carriage in a tool machine, in particular the feed carriage on a gear hobbing machine. The device utilizes cams oriented one after the other and which operate a plurality of switches to control the advance of the carriage. The end position of the carriage which is controlled by a control switch is determined by two cam carriages. The first cam carriage is positionable with a rough or coarse adjustment relative to the machine frame and the second cam carriage is finely adjustable relative to the first cam carriage. The cam carriages carry the aforementioned cams to effect a control of the movement of the feed carriage path adjacent the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4242016
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for use in conjunction with an electric drill to achieve precision drilling of holes at various desired angles in a workpiece. The apparatus comprises a base member which supports two pivoted, spring-containing columns bridged by a sliding carriage member carrying a spindle and chuck. The base member fits into an underlying anchoring means which assures accurate placement of the drill and steadiness of support. Hole indicator means, used in conjunction with said anchoring means enable precise location of hole sites on the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4222693
Abstract: An improved drafting instrument is provided for scribing small dots on a drafting medium comprising a substrate provided with a removable surface coating. The drafting instrument includes a drive motor and rotatable cutter which are slidably mounted as a unit for vertical movement toward and away from the drafting medium. A manually operable actuator is provided for moving the drive motor downward to bring the cutter into engagement with the surface coating of the drafting medium. A control switch responds to downward movement of the drive motor and cutter by a predetermined distance for automatically actuating the drive motor before the cutter is moved into engagement with the drafting medium. The drafting instrument includes an adjustable depth limit feature to control the depth of penetration of the cutter into the surface coating of the drafting medium. The operation of the drive motor and rotation of the cutter are automatically terminated when manual pressure on the actuator is released.

  • Patent number: 4182588
Abstract: A positive feed drill having an elongated spindle mounted for reversible longitudinal motion in a drill housing. The spindle has an hexagonal cross-section with the apices of the hexagon being threaded. A toothed drive gear having a hexagonal aperture centrally thereof has a close sliding fit with the spindle and is mounted for rotating the spindle. A feed gear having a threaded aperture centrally thereof is in threaded engagement with the spindle apices and is selectively rotated at a different rotational speed than the drive gear to longitudinally advance and retract the spindle. A gear for driving the feed gear is pin-slot locked to a motor gear for longitudinal spindle advancement, and is pin-slot locked to the housing for rapid spindle retraction. A pneumatic circuit in cooperation with limit valves and stop members provides completely automatic drilling to an adjustable depth, a dwell, and a positive retract operation with an economy of pneumatic energy.
