Abstract: A clinch nut is used to attach a first panel and a second panel with a space therebetween for accepting a liquid primer. The body has a nut face for abutting a first panel and a threaded aperture through the nut body for receiving a threaded bolt. The nut face has grooves into which the first panel is deformed to clinch the nut body to the first panel. An abutment rises from the nut face a distance greater than the thickness of the first panel so that upon the bolting of the second panel to the first panel by the insertion of the threaded bolt into the threaded aperture of the nut body, the second panel will be spaced from the first panel by the abutment thereby assuring that the liquid primer can flow between the first and second panels.

Tactile feedback is returned through the emergence of the pawl through the aperture in the nut, and by the rotation of the entire fastener assembly upon the provision of further tightening effort. Abstract: A tubular composite member with two ends for connecting ceramic components made of a composite of an inorganic matrix reinforced with inorganic fibers is formed with an at least partially threaded internal surface and an external surface. A ceramic member has at least one surface formed with one or more annular grooves with an inner shell surface, an outer shell surface, and a root. The inner shell surface is at least partially threaded. A resulting ceramic member assembly includes at least two ceramic members connected by at least one tubular composite member. The ends of the tubular composite member are screwed into the corresponding annular groove of two adjacent ceramic members. The such fastened/joined ceramic members can be operated at high temperatures especially under thermal cycling and/or thermal shock conditions as well as dynamic mechanical load in different directions. Methods to manufacture tubular composite members according to this invention are described.

Abstract: The invention relates to a connection element, in particular a plate nut, comprising a base body for attachment of an arbitrary component to a metallic planar object, in particular to a sheet metal. According to the invention, the base body comprises a securement portion the cross-sectional geometry of which deviates from a circular shape, the securement portion being at least partially positively receivable in a deformation in the sheet metal. The base body is, by means of a holding device, secured in the deformation against dropping out. In an alternative embodiment of the connection element, wherein unilateral accessibility to the sheet metal is sufficient, the holding device is formed by bead portions in a shaft area of the base body, which are plastically deformed into a bead by pull-out of a threaded bolt that is screwed into a thread portion.
