    Abstract: A press-in fastening apparatus and method couples a screw with a nut by pushing the screw through an opening of the nut along a slip axis and rotating the nut to align a lock axis with the inserted screw. The opening of the nut along the slip axis has a diameter greater than the diameter of the screw and the opening of the nut along the lock axis has a diameter that engages screw threads with nut threads. In one embodiment, the nut is disposed in a housing coupled to an information handling system and biased to align with the lock axis so that a module is secured to the information handling system by aligning a screw coupled to the module with the nut and pushing the screw into the nut. The module is removed from the information handling system by unscrewing the screw with engagement of the screw threads and nut threads.

    Abstract: A metal gasket is designed so that mounting and removal from a cylinder block using a bolt is easy regardless of the direction of the attaching surface and there is no risk of moving or drop off. The gasket is made of two laminated metal base plates. At a base plate part near a bolt hole of one metal base plate, a bolt engaging piece projects so that the diameter of the bolt hole is smaller than the diameter of the bolt for fastening, and an assistant piece for handling is integrated thereto. At the base plate part of the other plate overlapping the assistant piece, a cut recess is formed. When inserting the bolt into the bolt hole of the metal gasket, the bolt engaging piece is struck against the bolt and is elastically bent, and allows the bolt to pass. The gasket mounted on the bolt is kept at the mounting position by the pressing action to the bolt from the impact resilience force of the bolt engaging piece.

The nut secures a rotatable member of a rotary machine to a threaded driving axle. The nut is initially and loosely tightened on the axle by manually rotating the control ring. The cap has a high friction surface engaging the rotatable member. When the axle starts to rotate, a relative rotation occurs between the rotatable member and the axle which causes the cap to rotate with respect to the base. The rotation of the cap is transmitted to the base by the planetary gears to securely and completely tighten the nut.

    Abstract: A screw drive (10a) with rolling elements, optionally a ball screw drive, includes a screw spindle with a spindle axis (S) and a double nut (14a) running on the screw spindle, with two separately formed single nuts (16a , 18a) which are substantially rigidly joined in the direction of the axis (S) of the spindle. In order to set a desired play or bias relative to the screw spindle, the two single nuts (16a, 18a) can be turned continuously about the axis (S) of the spindle relative to each other and fixed in any relative rotary position corresponding to the desired play or bias. According to the invention, a first of the two single nuts or an intermediate element (28a) joined thereto and arranged between the two single nuts, as a first alternative, is welded to one of the two single nuts or to at least one part (42a) joined thereto or, as a second alternative, has at least one peripheral section pressed into an associated aperture in one of the single nuts.

    Abstract: The shelf support assembly includes an integral disk and shank with an aperture through the longitudinal axis thereof. A screw passes through the aperture. Flexible arms are formed around an opening in the disk formed by the aperture. The flexible arms engage the threads of screw during a pre-assembled position. However, the flexible arms deflect in response to axial urging of the screw thereby allowing the screw to move axially during the initial insertion of the screw into the pre-assembled position. This deflection further occurs in response to subsequent axial adjustment of the screw prior to installation, in response to the dropping of the shelf support assembly in the pre-assembled position thereby allowing the flexible arms to absorb a portion of the energy of the fall, and in response to the installation of the shelf support assembly into the mounting panel.

The tubular member has a threaded bore and a slot formed through its wall into the bore. The slot width is slightly less than the diameter of the bore. The nut is sufficiently resilient, allowing it to be snapped onto an elongated threaded rod from the side at any location along the length of the rod, making it unnecessary to screw it on to the rod from one end thereof. Once secured, the threads on the nut engage the threads on the rod, allowing the nut to be repositioned by rotating it.

    Abstract: A bolt-and-nut joint wherein the nut can be quickly relocated to an operative position on the bolt without deteriorating the locking function of the nut. In one aspect of the invention, a nut is provided with an axial slot extending through a wall of the nut. The width of the slot is somewhat smaller than the diameter of the bolt and the nut is produced of an elastic material that allows the nut to be snapped on and off the bolt via the slot at variable positions along the length of the bolt. The nut is tapered near one end for cooperation with a corresponding conical recess in a washer. The taper of the nut and the recess in the washer are chosen so that when the nut is tightened, the tapered part of the nut is wedged into the recess, urging the side walls of the nut to tighten around the bolt.
