  • Patent number: 7926693
Abstract: A receiving element which can be introduced into a borehole of at least one component includes a bolt presenting an outer surface that is approximately parallel and advantageously coaxial to a longitudinal axis of the bolt. The receiving element requires few materials and can therefore be produced at a low constructional cost while being provided with high dimensional stability and positioning accuracy. The bold includes an abrasion-resistant sintered material, and a metal tip provided on the front end of the shaft. The end part of the tip is engageable in a recess of the bolt, and there is a direct connection between the end part and the recess in the connection region on the front end of the bolt.

  • Patent number: 7866931
Abstract: An apparatus for a present depth adapter (10) having a flared body that is narrow at the bottom (68) with a wider top portion (46) and a central recess or throughbore (50) extending therethrough. The present invention (10) comes in a variety of sizes wherein the depth from top to bottom is slightly less than the thickness of common sheetrock (18) used in the industry. The shaft of the screw or nail is inserted through the top of the recess (50) until the head rests thereagainst. The screw or nail is installed and cannot be driven any further once the bottom (68) of the preset depth adapter makes contact with the stud (16) regardless of whether the stud is wood or steel. This results in each screw or nail being countersunk to the proper depth and prevents the hardware from being driven too far into the sheetrock (18) and compromising the fastening integrity thereof. The flared shape of the present invention (10) forms a plug that assures an absolute bond to the sheetrock (18).

  • Publication number: 20100239387
Abstract: A take-up fastener is disclosed for fastening a level in a frame construction to the level below so as to resist upward forces generated by wind and other sources on the framed construction. The take-up fastener in general includes a take-up plate, or washer, fastened to a portion of the upper level and a take-up screw fit through the take-up plate and fastened to the adjacent level below. Once the take-up fastener is fully assembled, the take-up plate includes a pair of tabs which are capable of engaging threads on a take-up screw in a way that allows one-way motion of the take-up screw relative to the take-up plate. In particular, the take-up plate can move downward relative to the take-up screw, for example on constricting of the wooden members to which the take-up plate is affixed. However, the engagement between the take-up plate and take-up screw prevents movement of the take-up plate upward with respect to the take-up screw, for example upon an upward load due to wind or other external force.

  • Patent number: 7011482
Abstract: A washer formed by two identical C-shaped sections having parallel upper and lower surfaces, two ends, an inside and an outside arcuate edge, the ends having a plurality of tabs and recesses that inter-digitate to form continuous surfaces. The outside arcuate edges have a slot adjacent to one end and a flap projecting from the opposite end. The flaps are inserted into the slots of adjacent sections to retain adjoining ends in fixed relation to each other. Additional grooves on the outside arcuate edge facilitate assembly using needle-nosed pliers.

  • Patent number: 6986298
Abstract: For assembling at least two parts of an object with one another, a bolt having a thread is introduced into the parts, a washer is placed on a free end of the bolt, a nut is threadingly connected to the free end of the bolt so as to abut against the washer, a power tool is placed so as to turn the nut by a rotatable element of the power tool connected to the nut to tighten or loosen the bolt and to apply a non-rotatable element of the power tool to the washer to absorb reaction force and the body of the washer is provided with a breaking point such that when the nut is turned and turns the bolt, the washer stops the bolt from turning and thereby the nut creates a pull on the bolt which elongates the bolt in an axial direction and applies to the body of the washer an axial force which breaks a portion of the body of the washer and allows a portion of the body of the washer to be pulled axially when the bolt elongates.

  • Patent number: 6854749
Abstract: An assembly which includes a fastener assembly that clamps together two or more clamped components between clamping structures of the fastener assembly. One of the clamped components that the fastener assembly clamps together with the other clamped components is a clamp-force-check component that defines a fastener hole through itself. The clamp-force-check component is disposed adjacent one of the clamping structures of the fastener assembly. A fastener shaft of the fastener assembly extends through the fastener hole defined through the clamp-force-check component. The clamp-force-check component has an outer perimeter of such a shape that a wrench may engage the outer perimeter of the clamp-force-check component and apply a torque thereto.

Abstract: An improved method and system for providing secondary roof support in a mine is disclosed. The system provides support and containment of rocks that may become loose from the mine roof and comprises a mine roof bolt anchored in a mine roof, a base plate, and a generally flat plate. The base plate and the flat plate each have a hole slightly larger than the standard mine roof bolt diameters to accommodate a mine roof bolt which passes through the base plate, then the flat plate, before continuing on into the mine roof, and which pulls the plates up against the mine roof. The generally flat plate extends laterally out from the bolt in all directions and provides support for the mine roof at locations laterally removed from the roof bolt. The secondary roof support member may also feature one or more stiffening ridges and may exert an upward force on the mine roof at locations laterally removed from the roof bolt.

Abstract: A fastener for use in forming a joint of a framework for a patio enclosure. The joint includes an end of an elongated first frame member fastened to a side of an elongated second frame member. The fastener includes a body having a first end and a second end defining an outer surface therebetween. The second end is adapted to fit in a hollow portion of the first frame member. The fastener further includes a plate extending outwardly from the body. The plate is adapted to be fastened to the side portion of the second frame member. A stop extends outwardly from the outer surface of the body. • Patent number: 6682268
Abstract: A method for providing secondary roof support in an underground mine such as to reduce the hazard of localized crumbling or deterioration of a mine roof. The apparatus generally comprises a slightly convex steel plate, crafted to cradle a roof bolt and which is supported by the base plate of the primary roof control system. The apparatus is utilized with standard primary roof bolt systems. By applying an upward pressure on the roof and effecting a larger coverage area for each roof bolt, the opportunity for drawrock separation to begin is reduced, and the exposure of the elements to drawrock strata in the vicinity of the bolt is eliminated. The method includes the step of utilizing the apparatus, with convex portion of the lateral plate facing upwards, before the placement of the base plate and roof bolt.

  • Patent number: RE39499
Abstract: Compressible lock washers for use in catheter connectors. One such lock washer (60) includes a support ring (62) and tube engagement flanges (64) extending centrally therefrom, oblique to the ring and each extending from the same side thereof. The tube engagement flanges (64) define a tube receptacle (72) through which a catheter tube (58) may be inserted. Upon compression of the lock washer (60), the tube engagement flanges (64) are force toward the ring (62), decreasing the diameter of the tube receptacle (72). Thus, during compression of the lock washer (60), the tube engagement flanges (64) engage the catheter tube (58) which runs through the tube receptacle (72), securing the catheter tube within the catheter connector (20) with which the lock washer is associated.
