Patent number: 6261043Abstract: A material moving system is disclosed for use in a plant such as a metal foundry. There is an overhead gantry for moving a main hook and auxiliary hook. The main hook carries a container such as a scrap charge bucket. The auxiliary hook carries a multi-function auxiliary tool such as a magnet with a tool hook affixed to the magnet. The scrap charge bucket carries a target member on a saddle on the outside of the bucket. The bucket also has a hold out stand that positions the target member for easy accessibility. The target member is attached to actuator cables that are attached to clam shell bottom members of the scrap charge bucket. The auxiliary tool may be used to lift and pull the target member to open the clam shell members without removing the magnet from the auxiliary hook, saving time. The hook on the magnet is positioned so that the hook does not damage the scrap metal bins or electric arc furnaces when the magnet is used for its usual purposes.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1999Date of Patent: July 17, 2001Assignee: AMSTED Industries IncorporatedInventors: Casey A. Patent number: 6257819Abstract: A device for hooking, picking up and unloading flexible printed circuits to be introduced into a kiln, comprising one or more jaws to grip the circuit and to rotate freely around a horizontal axis—to supports which slide along vertical guides; handling systems adapted to move the supports along the vertical guides so as to move the jaws from the circuit feed position to the position in which the circuits are inserted into the kiln; systems designed to impose a slight rotation on the supports in at least one direction around the horizontal axis; and systems designed to activate the rotating pistons only at the circuit unloading stage after the treatment cycle in the kiln, so as to place the circuits in a slightly tilted position.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1998Date of Patent: July 10, 2001Inventor: Alessandro Garioni

Patent number: 5848867Abstract: A storage rack is loaded and unloaded from the top with pallets carrying articles to be stored in and retrieved from the rack. The rack consists of a series of spaced columns arranged in parallel rows defining wells accessible from the top; the columns have vertically spaced, upwardly facing sets of steps protruding to an equal extent towards the centre of the wells. A crane is horizontally movable over the rack and stoppable above a selected well; it has a hoisting block which can be lowered between and guided by the columns of the selected well; a pair of hooks are pivoted to the hoisting block for movement towards and away from each other between opened and closed position; a pair of Z-shaped pallet holding beams adapted to carry a series of pallets aligned in end to end relation are suspended from the hooks and clear the steps when in closed position.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1996Date of Patent: December 15, 1998Inventors: Pierre Gagnon, Pierre Laforest

Patent number: 5372469Abstract: A mobile cart for moving coil-shaped objects has a wheel-mounted horizontal base which supports an upwardly extending mast provided with a guideway along which a first support element is controllably movable up and down in a vertical direction above the base. A second support element is pivotably mounted at a proximate end to the first support element, and provides a horizontal guideway along which is suspended a downwardly depending clamp. On the base of the cart there is also provided an object support which, between two quarter-cylinder shaped horizontal support elements, has a gap of selected size. The clamp is operable to grasp a coil-shaped object, after which the first and second support elements are guidably moved upward, and the object supported by the clamps is horizontally moved to the object support. Lower distal end portions of the clamp slide into the gap and the coil-like object is lowered to rest on and be supported by an upper portion of the object support.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1992Date of Patent: December 13, 1994Assignee: Kobayashi Hansokiki Co., Ltd.Inventor: Takechiyo Kobayashi

Patent number: 5219150Abstract: A heat exchanger has a duct with a tube assembly supported by a hanger that extends through an opening in the roof of the duct. A jack is provided to raise and lower the tube assembly during maintenance. The jack includes a base with an aperture therethrough and a pair of rollers attached to the underside of the base so that the jack can be moved across the roof. A pair of fluid operated cylinders are mounted on the base and project upward on opposite sides of the aperture. A jacking frame is attached to the other ends of both the cylinders and a rod extension passes through the base aperture for connecting the jacking frame to the hanger.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1991Date of Patent: June 15, 1993Assignee: Deltak CorporationInventors: Eugene S.
