Abstract: A hoist for lifting or hanging game animals. The hoist is particularly adapted for attachment to an ATV. The hoist includes a horizontal boom attached to a vertical support shaft. The vertical support shaft is telescoping to allow the height of the boom to be varied. The hoist is attached to the ATV by a base which allows the hoist to be supported in a vertical position for lifting game, and in a horizontal position for travelling. A bracing leg is also provided to prevent the ATV from tipping when heavy weights are being lifted using the hoist.

  • Patent number: 5542812
Abstract: A truck mounted crane assembly includes a turntable lock, a boom rest which interacts with the piston and cylinder device, and a swing away hoist mount. The turntable lock includes a pin which is manually retractable upon rotation of a handle from a position preventing relative rotation between a turntable and a pedestal to a position allowing such relative rotation and which can be secured in the first and second positions. The boom rest is mounted on the boom and rests on the cylinder of the piston and cylinder device when the boom is lowered to a predetermined position, thus taking much of the pressure off the piston. The boom rest is movable from a position in which it is capable of supporting the boom to a position in which it is incapable of supporting the boom and in which the boom is thus lowerable below the predetermined position. The provision of the turntable lock and boom rest obviates the need for a cradle rest for the boom.

  • Patent number: 5460472
Abstract: A cartop hoist and carrier apparatus has a crane rotatably mounted on a frame that is adapted to be secured to the top of an automotive vehicle. The crane has two spaced apart suspension points for two respective hoisting lines that are led to a winch for simultaneous hauling in or paying out. The two hoist lines provide stability to an elongated load against both tilting and twisting. When the frame is mounted on a vehicle roof, the crane can be swung outboard to raise an elongated load, such as a canoe, from alongside the vehicle. The crane can then be swung inboard and the load lowered to rest on the frame.

Abstract: A mounted, elevatable, lightweight pivotal boom is provided which defines an elongate internal track defining a downwardly facing slot. An electromechanical winch mechanism is provided for lifting and handling objects such as the windshield of an automotive vehicle and which includes roller supports having rollers that are received by the internal track of the boom. The winch mechanism includes a DC motor which is provided with a detachable control circuit to provide for its selective operation. The horizontal, pivotal boom is supported by fixed and movable telescoping standards and may be elevated manually or by means of a jack mechanism such as a manual or powered operable mechanical, hydraulic or electrical jack. The lightweight nature of the lift components enable the lift to be easily positioned by a single worker for optimum lifting and handling of lightweight loads.

  • Patent number: 5372469
Abstract: A mobile cart for moving coil-shaped objects has a wheel-mounted horizontal base which supports an upwardly extending mast provided with a guideway along which a first support element is controllably movable up and down in a vertical direction above the base. A second support element is pivotably mounted at a proximate end to the first support element, and provides a horizontal guideway along which is suspended a downwardly depending clamp. On the base of the cart there is also provided an object support which, between two quarter-cylinder shaped horizontal support elements, has a gap of selected size. The clamp is operable to grasp a coil-shaped object, after which the first and second support elements are guidably moved upward, and the object supported by the clamps is horizontally moved to the object support. Lower distal end portions of the clamp slide into the gap and the coil-like object is lowered to rest on and be supported by an upper portion of the object support.

  • Patent number: 5211526
Abstract: A modular, readily assembled crane for mounting on a vehicle trailer hitch drawbar and reconfigurable for stand alone, rollabout operation. A receptacle rotatably supports a vertical column, boom arm, and lifting device, which may be a hydraulic jack or a winch. The receptacle has a lateral projection cooperating with the drawbar and two lateral projections to engage outriggers to steady the device and to support weight. The outriggers may be omitted. The same three projections, when reconfiguring the crane to rollabout operation, cooperate with a readily built up frame riding just above a floor, supported on casters. Rollabout frame length, boom arm angle, boom arm length, and outrigger height are adjustable. A non-lubricated PTFE washer serves as a rotating bearing. Optional parts include a receiving unit mountable to a vehicle in the absence of a trailer hitch, and a similar unit mountable to a wall surface.

  • Patent number: 5180275
Abstract: Passive rotary wheelchair lift that is retrofittable in transit vehicles on either the forward or rearward edge of a side double-door step well. The lift employs in its preferred embodiment a double slide tube having a box frame with a cross header. A hydraulic cylinder actuates a pair of chains, one descending down each lift tube to operate the vertical lift. A manual hand pump is provided in the case of power failure. Secured to the bottom of inner telescoping lift tubes is a plate carrying a power actuator for rotating the lift platform from a deployed horizontal position to a vertical stowed position. In the stowed position the platform is approximately 26 inches in length and 36 inches in width. The platform has one or more slide-mounted extension sections which permit the platform to extend out to a full 51 inches. Manual or power-actuated wheel stops are provided at the rear entry and the forward end, for either one way or two way entry/exit onto the platform.
