Patent number: 11632910Abstract: A hay bale lifting and transport device is mounted on a transport vehicle having a cab and having a rear bed area located behind the cab which defines a generally rectangular shaped, exposed top planar surface. The lifting apparatus includes a pair of elongate hay bale spikes affixed to a mounting assembly so that the spikes are spaced apart a fixed distance and are arranged in a plane parallel to one another. The spikes and mounting assembly are received in an opening formed in the rear planar bed of the transport vehicle when the spikes are in a first, fully retracted position, the central axis of each of the spikes being located below the plane of the rear bed. An actuating mechanism acts upon the mounting assembly for moving the pair of spikes around a pivot axis between the fully retracted position and an extended position in which the spikes are arranged to engage a bale of hay.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2021Date of Patent: April 25, 2023Inventor: Graham Johnson

The bale pick-up and loading mechanism comprises a pivotal loading platform with outwardly extending pick-up arms on the sides of the loading platform guiding and manipulating the bales into proper position and for grasping the ends of the bales as they are lifted on the accumulating platform. Upwardly extending gripping members or sliding alignment tubes at the ends of the pick-up arms, and pivotable grab hooks, provide increased bale grasping capabilities and improved stacking stability.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 1995Date of Patent: April 16, 1996Inventor: Charles Siebenga

Patent number: 5433581Abstract: A wheelchair lift with hydraulic power unit and automated folding platform for installation on the floor, inside the opening defining walls of a vehicle to provide for loading and unloading of wheelchair occupants to and from the vehicle. Completely automated, retractable, collapsable folding platform. Hydraulic power unit (10) of the lift and the hydraulic cylinder (28) are totally enclosed, and contained in the power box. The power unit provides power for upward motion of the platform and gravity descent for downward motion of the platform. The platform is pivotally retracted and held in a vertical position in half of the opening space of the vehicle door. The folding motion is accomplished by a folding arm driven against a cam roller which starts the motion of the ball joint linkages inside the platform tubing structure. This initiates a resulting revolving motion of one half section of the platform which folds the platform in a smooth un-interrupted continuous manner.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1994Date of Patent: July 18, 1995Inventor: Ali J. Patent number: 5370493Abstract: A lifting apparatus for a vehicle, which comprises: a platform adapted to be fitted into a cut portion formed at the backward portion of the floor of a vehicle; a drive element provided at support members attached to the lower part of the floor; a drive shaft axially supported by the support members so that it rotates by expanding or contracting movement of a working rod of the drive element; an L-shaped drive arm having an elbow portion fixed to the drive shaft, a short rod portion, and a long rod portion pivotally supported by the platform; an L-shaped driven arm provided oppositely to the drive arm and having a long rod portion similarly pivotally supported by the platform, an elbow portion pivotally supported by the support member, and a short rod portion; and a connecting rod having both end portions respectively pivotally supported by the short rod portions of the driven arm and the drive arm, and adapted for transmitting a drive force of the drive element.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1993Date of Patent: December 6, 1994Inventor: Shinnosuke Oshima

Patent number: 5209628Abstract: An apparatus for stowing and extending for removal a towing dolly used for towing automotive vehicles. The apparatus is formed from a generally vertical support stand which is secured to the bed of a towing vehicle. Pivotally connected to the support stand is a first arm having a range of motion extending from a near vertical storage position to a near horizontal load/unload position. Pivotally attached to the first arm is a second arm which is in a near vertical position during loading and remains in a near vertical position as the first arm is pivoted into the storage position, such that the two arms are now nearly parallel. This relationship is maintained by a gas spring pivotally connected to the support stand and the second arm such that the gas spring maintains a generally parallel configuration with the first arm. A dolly mount is attached to the end of the second arm for releasably securing a towing dolly to the vertical arm.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1991Date of Patent: May 11, 1993Inventor: Curtis C. Patent number: 5006034Abstract: A lifting apparatus includes a load support device for engaging and supporting a load as the load support device and the load are moved between a lowered position and a raised position relative to a base. A pair of spaced lifting arms are connected at first pivotal connections to the base and at second pivotal connections to the load support device for moving the load support device between its lowered and raised positions. A stabilizer arm is connected at a third pivotal connection to the load support device, and at a fourth pivotal connection to the bases, for controlling a rotational orientation of the load support device about an axis of the second pivotal connection relative to the base. A sprocket is rigidly attached to each of the lifting arms substantially coaxial with the first pivotal connection, and a chain is operably engaged with each sprocket.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1989Date of Patent: April 9, 1991Assignee: Halliburton CompanyInventors: Dale E. Patent number: 4972917Abstract: A carriage conveying apparatus has a loaded carriage to be conveyed, and a driving vehicle for coupling, towing and conveying the carriage from below the carriage. Since the vertical load of the carriage is transmitted to the driving vehicle, controlled to a proper magnitude, the driving vehicle may be reduced in size and weight, and it is also possible to have stable travel if the carriage is empty. By designing all three wheels so as to be driven and steered, sideways and spin-turn motions are realized. By providing recognition marks and detecting means, it is possible to position the driving vehicle accurately if the setting position of the carriage deviates.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1989Date of Patent: November 27, 1990Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yoshihiro Matsumoto, Yasutaka Nakajima, Haruo Tanioku, Kouichi Fujikawa, Norihide Higaki, Nobuo Mino
