  • Patent number: 11632910
Abstract: A hay bale lifting and transport device is mounted on a transport vehicle having a cab and having a rear bed area located behind the cab which defines a generally rectangular shaped, exposed top planar surface. The lifting apparatus includes a pair of elongate hay bale spikes affixed to a mounting assembly so that the spikes are spaced apart a fixed distance and are arranged in a plane parallel to one another. The spikes and mounting assembly are received in an opening formed in the rear planar bed of the transport vehicle when the spikes are in a first, fully retracted position, the central axis of each of the spikes being located below the plane of the rear bed. An actuating mechanism acts upon the mounting assembly for moving the pair of spikes around a pivot axis between the fully retracted position and an extended position in which the spikes are arranged to engage a bale of hay.

Abstract: A lift attached to a truck has a tail gate supported by at least one hydraulic lift and at least one tilt cylinder for respectively lifting the tail gate as a whole and rotating it for opening and closing. A control system for moving such a tail gate up and down as a whole and rotating it to open and close it is provided with a power unit including a hydraulic pump, an electric motor for the hydraulic pump, and a plurality of valves for selectably allowing or not allowing transport of a hydraulic liquid by the hydraulic pump into the hydraulic cylinders, a sensor for measuring the pressure inside the hydraulic pump, external switches, and a controller which includes a CPU, a timer and a semiconductor switch and serves to calculate on real time the speed of the tail gate from signals from the sensor and the timer. The position of the tail gate is accurately determined therefrom and the tail gate is gradually started, accelerated and decelerated to prevent damage to its cargo.

Abstract: A trailer chassis for receiving and transporting shipping containers having a platform extension fixedly attached to the rear end and with a liftgate that can be moved between a position level with the platform extension and ground level. The platform extension and the liftgate are each large enough for a loaded pallet handler to maneuver. This construction allows a forklift, pallet jack or other pallet handler to unload palletized cargo directly from the shipping container at various retail locations without the need for an elevated loading dock.

Abstract: Apparatus for picking up and stacking large bales of hay or the like comprises a wheeled trailer that is pulled in an offset position by a tractor, a bale pick up and loading mechanism on the front of the trailer for picking up the bales as the trailer is pulled across a field, and a downwardly and a rearwardly inclined accumulating platform on the trailer for storing the bales. The accumulating platform is tiltable in a rearward direction to unload the bales in a stack. The bale pick-up and loading mechanism comprises a pivotal loading platform with outwardly extending pick-up arms on the sides of the loading platform guiding and manipulating the bales into proper position and for grasping the ends of the bales as they are lifted on the accumulating platform. Upwardly extending gripping members or sliding alignment tubes at the ends of the pick-up arms, and pivotable grab hooks, provide increased bale grasping capabilities and improved stacking stability.

  • Patent number: 5433581
Abstract: A wheelchair lift with hydraulic power unit and automated folding platform for installation on the floor, inside the opening defining walls of a vehicle to provide for loading and unloading of wheelchair occupants to and from the vehicle. Completely automated, retractable, collapsable folding platform. Hydraulic power unit (10) of the lift and the hydraulic cylinder (28) are totally enclosed, and contained in the power box. The power unit provides power for upward motion of the platform and gravity descent for downward motion of the platform. The platform is pivotally retracted and held in a vertical position in half of the opening space of the vehicle door. The folding motion is accomplished by a folding arm driven against a cam roller which starts the motion of the ball joint linkages inside the platform tubing structure. This initiates a resulting revolving motion of one half section of the platform which folds the platform in a smooth un-interrupted continuous manner.

Abstract: An apparatus for stowing and extending for removal a towing dolly used for towing automotive vehicles. The apparatus is formed from a generally vertical support stand which is secured to the bed of a towing vehicle. Pivotally connected to the support stand is a first arm having a range of motion extending from a near vertical storage position to a near horizontal load/unload position. Pivotally attached to the first arm is a second arm which is in a near vertical position during loading and remains in a near vertical position as the first arm is pivoted into the storage position, such that the two arms are now nearly parallel. This relationship is maintained by a gas spring pivotally connected to the support stand and the second arm such that the gas spring maintains a generally parallel configuration with the first arm. A dolly mount is attached to the end of the second arm for releasably securing a towing dolly to the vertical arm.

  • Patent number: 4972917
Abstract: A carriage conveying apparatus has a loaded carriage to be conveyed, and a driving vehicle for coupling, towing and conveying the carriage from below the carriage. Since the vertical load of the carriage is transmitted to the driving vehicle, controlled to a proper magnitude, the driving vehicle may be reduced in size and weight, and it is also possible to have stable travel if the carriage is empty. By designing all three wheels so as to be driven and steered, sideways and spin-turn motions are realized. By providing recognition marks and detecting means, it is possible to position the driving vehicle accurately if the setting position of the carriage deviates.
