  • Patent number: 5380168
Abstract: An axial multi-piston compressor includes a drive shaft, a cylinder block having cylinder bores formed therein and surrounding the drive shaft, and a plurality of pistons slidably received in the respective cylinder bores, wherein the pistons are successively reciprocated in the cylinder bores by a rotation of the drive shaft so that a suction stroke and a discharge stroke are alternately executed in each of the cylinder bores. During the suction stroke, a fluid is introduced into the cylinder bore concerned, and during the compression stroke, the introduced fluid is compressed and discharged from the cylinder bore concerned, such that a residual part of the compressed fluid is inevitably left in the cylinder bore concerned when the compression stroke is finished. The compressor further includes a rotary valve for allowing the residual part of the compressed fluid to escape from the cylinder bore concerned into two other cylinder bores disposed adjacent to each other and subjected to the compression stroke.

  • Patent number: 4984970
Abstract: When pumping chambers were provided between tapered discs of axial compressibility and expandability, the discs worked perfect in the subcritical pressure range. But in the supercritical pressure range the high pressure in fluid would depart the discs away from each other and open a gap between the discs because the force of pressure in fluid in the chamber between the tapered discs was higher than the internal strength of the material of which the respective coned element was made. The invention now discovers that it is possible to provide a means which prevents the departure of a coned ring from a neighbored ring. The invention obtains this by providing a means which presses under actions of pressure in surrounding fluid the neighboring coned ring elements at all times together for a close and perfect sealing between them.

  • Patent number: 4907950
Abstract: A fluid pump has two pairs of rectangular oppositely-disposed pistons. The pistons of each pair travel simultaneously in opposite directions at the same speed and over the same distance. Valving is provided by a reciprocating port plate, in face-to-face relation to the piston, driven in a circular path from two spaced crankpins and which in turn drives the associated piston. The sliding movement of the port plate controls the alignment of inlet and exhaust ports in the piston and port plate. The excursion or "throw" of the pistons can be varied from zero to maximum. A crankpin throw-adjusting mechanism simultaneously adjusts the throw of each crankpin, some in one direction, some in the opposite, so that all chambers are automatically adjusted for varying, but always identical, displacements. Self-lubricated seals between the piston and chamber walls are spring loaded, by an elastomerically sealed structure having non-linear deflection-to-force characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4792287
Abstract: An axial piston pump for pumping a medium such as a viscous liquid in which a wobble element is set into rotating movement via a piston, the wobble element moving at least one feed piston in a piston bore. The piston bore is intended to communicate, via a transverse line and a further piston bore which is occupied by a control piston, with an intake line for the medium to be pumped. By means of this axial piston pump, which is valve-controlled on the compression side and slide-controlled on the intake side, liquid having a high viscosity can be pumped without a loss of efficiency, and any noise produced by the pump can be reduced. Abstract: A hydraulic pump unit, comprising an electric motor, the stator (5) of wh is disposed in a housing defining an oil reservoir and the rotor of which is mounted on a shaft which drives a hydraulic pump. Each front end of said stator is associated with an end shield for a shaft bearing. A pump element or the pump is secured to at least one end shield. Elongated connecting members which are distributed about said shaft in the circumferential direction support said end shields. The connecting members are designed as rods (17), abut against the outer circumference (7) of said stator (5) and, in the undeformed state, guide said stator in a close sliding fit. At least one tightening strap (19) encompasses said rods (17) and the outer stator circumference (7) for deforming said rods (17) until said stator is fixed in position and for pressing said rods against the stator circumference. A means for preventing rotation can be provided between said stator and said rods or said tightening strap.

  • Patent number: 4500261
Abstract: A pump for pumping a mixture of a liquid and a coarse-grained material comprises a motor-driven rotor (1) having a plurality of longitudinal cylinders (5, 6, 7, 8) having individual piston members (9), whereby these are driven back and forth by means of a pressure medium which is supplied to one end of the rotor. At the other end of the rotor, the cylinder openings, during rotation, pass a stationary inlet channel (21) and a stationary outlet channel (22) for the mass that is to be pumped. The rotor (1) is designed as a truncated cone, the cylinders being obliquely positioned with respect to the axis of rotation and having the greatest radial distance thereto at the cylinder ends which cooperate with the above-mentioned inlet and outlet channels.

  • Patent number: 4492530
Abstract: Improvements in a compressor unit of the type which includes a radial piston compressor and a drive motor disposed in a housing about a stationary shaft are disclosed. The shaft is suspended from the housing by an elastic coupling to substantially suppress the transmission of vibrations and sound from the compressor unit to the housing. In a disclosed embodiment, the shaft is suspended by a rod-shaped elastic support member fastened to the housing and protruding into a cavity defined by a hollow portion of the shaft where the elastic member is connected to the shaft. According to one aspect of the invention, transmission of vibration and sound can be attenuated without the need to provide additional space by providing the unit's pressure outlet duct as the elastic support member.

Abstract: A two-way transducer for transfering power between two hydraulic circuits, e.g. to ensure uninterrupted hydraulic power in all the hydraulic circuits of a twin engined aircraft, even when one engine has failed. A body (1) has an elongate cavity (4) housing two barrels (14, 15) of cylinders (26) with pistons (28) slidably mounted therein. A common drive shaft (17) enables each barrel to drive the other. A wedge (16) located between the barrels provides two oblique surfaces (18, 19) for the piston heads to slide over. Sealing means (38, 39, 43, 44) to prevent fluid leaking from one circuit to the other. In operation one barrel operates as a swashplate type of motor driving the other barrel which then acts as a pump.

  • Patent number: 4465436
Abstract: Improvements are disclosed in a radial piston compressor having pistons reciprocally disposed in the piston spaces of a cylinder block rotatably supported on a stationary shaft. The radial motion of the pistons is controlled by a rotatable guide which is arranged with its axis of rotation eccentrically to the axis of rotation of the cylinder block. The portion of the stationary shaft covered by the cylinder block includes a suction slot and a pressure slot extending along a portion of the circumference of the stationary shaft. Oil for sealing the cylinder block and the stationary shaft is introduced into the gap between the cylinder block and the stationary shaft. Due to the rotation of the cylinder block, the piston spaces are communicated alternatingly with the suction slot and the pressure slot through an opening provided in the bottom of the piston spaces.
