Abstract: A positive displacement rotary machine with a body having an internal spherical cavity, a rotor, and a ring working cavity formed by the body and the rotor. The working cavity is functionally divided into bypass and propulsion halves. A separator embodied in the form of a wobble plate is mounted in the working cavity at an angle to the rotor. A piston with a sealable through-slot for the separator passage is mounted in a slot made in the rotor. Multiple openings made through the separator in the propulsion half of the cavity make the separator transparent for the working medium flow. The openings are small enough so the separator seals the through-slot of the piston. The configuration allows for one input port and one output port on the opposite sides of the separator in the bypass half to make the supply steady.

The apparatus includes a housing having a front end plate and a cup shaped casing attached thereto; the cup shaped casing has a fluid inlet port and a fluid outlet port. A fixed scroll, which includes a first end plate and a first spiral element, is fixedly disposed within the interior of the cup shaped casing. A large threaded opening is formed through an end plate of the cup shaped casing. An adjusting screw is screwed in the threaded opening to abut against the end surface of the fixed scroll. After adjusting the axial clearance between the fixed and orbiting scrolls by adjusting the position of the adjusting screw, a plurality of bolts fasten the fixed scroll to the cup shaped casing to prevent further axial movement.

  • Patent number: 4017223
Abstract: A dual screw-type pump is provided with a means for balancing the resultant dynamic axial thrust on the screw assemblies during operation of the pump. The resultant thrust on each assembly is absorbed in part by a circular piston on the assembly near the rear of the pump and the remainder by a thrust bearing engaged with the assembly near the front of the pump. The longitudinal position of one of the screw assemblies is selectively adjustable relative to the position of the other screw assembly to balance the thrust on the screw assemblies.

Abstract: A rotary piston engine is disclosed of a novel, geometric construction whereby substantially pressure dependent operation is ensured along with continuous torque characteristics. In the preferred inventive embodiment, an elongated rotatable shaft having a disc plate intermediate thereof is provided with a pair of rotor assemblies disposed to either side of the disc plate and attached for rotation as a unit, each rotor assembly including an inner and an outer concentrically arranged ring of different diameters with a radially extending piston vane disposed therebetween in linking relationship therewith. A slotted intermediate ring is placed between the inner and outer rings of each respective rotor assembly, the intermediate ring being journalled off-center of its respective rotor assembly such that the intermediate ring effects a rolling contact seal with both the inner and outer rings of the rotor assembly during rotation thereof.
