  • Patent number: 7473083
Abstract: A scroll compressor including an oil separator is provided. The oil separator may be provided with a rotor or a shaft of a driving motor of the compressor so that refrigerant gas and oil discharged from a compression chamber may be separated by a centrifugal force. The oil separator may include a plurality of oil separation holes formed in an eccentric mass and a rotor. Rotation of the shaft/rotor and subsequent rotation of the eccentric mass generates a centrifugal force, causing separation of oil from refrigerant gas contained in the oil separation holes. Accordingly, oil is maintained in the casing, and is prevented from being discharged out of the compressor, thus preventing abrasion due to oil deficiency and a degradation in reliability of the compressor. Furthermore, oil is prevented from being discharged to a refrigerating system externally coupled to the compressor, thereby enhancing performance of the refrigerating system.

Abstract: Lubricating liquid fed from a reservoir to a compression mechanism is collected by a circumferential wall that surrounds the drive shaft of the compression mechanism and rotates synchronously with it immediately after liquid is discharged into the space inside the housing with or without compressed fluid. Liquid is then urged outward under centrifugal force from an outlet formed at a preset axial location of the circumferential wall. Exiting liquid is received by a fixed liquid return cover that surrounds the circumferential wall near its outlet and led back to the reservoir.

Abstract: An apparatus for preventing overheat of a scroll compressor comprising: an overload preventing device for connecting or cut off a power source by a temperature and a current; a valve housing formed as a predetermined shape and fixedly coupled to the fixed scroll; a volume type valve movably inserted into the valve housing for opening and closing the discharge hole of the fixed scroll; and a valve pressurizing means located in the valve housing for increasing an input current by pushing the volume type valve and thus by blocking the discharge hole when temperature of discharge gas discharged to the discharge hole of the fixed scroll is more than a predetermined temperature. Accordingly, when a temperature of discharge gas is drastically or gradually increased and thus becomes a preset high temperature by several conditions at the time of driving the compressor, a driving of the overheated state is stopped by an immediate reaction thus to prevent a component damage.

  • Patent number: 6932588
Abstract: A variable capacity rotary compressor includes a housing defining a cylindrical compression chamber therein and having an inlet port and an outlet port communicating with the compression chamber. A rotating shaft is provided with an eccentric part to rotate in the compression chamber. A ring piston is rotatably fitted over the eccentric part such that an outer surface of the ring piston is in contact with an inner surface of the compression chamber. A vane is installed in the housing so as to be in contact with the outer surface of the ring piston and radially reciprocates, and partitions the compression chamber into an intake part and a discharging part. A re-expansion space communicates with the compression chamber, and receives refrigerant therein. A control unit opens or closes an inlet of the re-expansion space to vary a capacity of the rotary compressor.

Abstract: The Quasiturbine (Qurbine in short) uses a rotor arrangement peripherally supported by four rolling carriages, the carriages taking the pivoting blade pressure-load of the blades forming the rotor, and transferring the load to the opposite internal contoured housing wall. The present invention discloses a central, annular, rotor support for the rotor geometry defined by the pivoting blades and associated wheel-bearings, while still maintaining the important center-free engine characteristic. The pressure-load on each pivoting blade is taken by its own set of wheel-bearings rolling on annular tracks attached to the central area of the lateral side covers forming part of the stator casing.

Abstract: A scroll compressor having crankcase with an integral shroud. The shroud includes an aperture and defines a partial enclosure. A counterweight mounted on the shaft of the compressor is disposed within the partial enclosure defined by the shroud. The aperture is positioned above the shaft and the shroud shields an oil sump within the compressor housing from the fanning action of the counterweight. A scroll compressor having a baffle extending from an inlet to the compressor housing to an inlet of the working space of the compressor is also provided. The baffle is secured to the crankcase of the compressor and may include an opening that functions as an oil stripper.

Abstract: There is provided a horizontal rotary compressor capable of improving performance thereof while an oil supply means smoothly supplies oil. A part of a hermetic shell case at the upper side is partitioned by a baffle into an electric element side and an oil pump side, a refrigerant which is drawn from an outside of the hermetic shell case is compressed by a first rotary compression element and a second rotary compression element and discharged toward the electric element side of the baffle, then it is further discharged from oil pump side toward the outside of the hermetic shell case. The baffle closes a flow path area of the refrigerant over an oil level inside the hermetic shell case at a ratio ranging from not less than 50% to not more than 80% during the stoppage of the horizontal rotary compressor.
