Preferably, the foreign gene is expressed in an portion of the plant that is edible by humans or animals. In a preferred procedure, the vaccine is administered through the consumption of the edible plant as food, preferably in the form of a fruit or vegetable juice which can be taken orally.

The first and second portions thus treated are then mixed and the mixture is passed on to a filter press or other means for separation of the solids to produce a wet cake comprising complexed chlortetracycline. In alternative embodiments, the second portion may be acidified and filtered and admixed with the first portion prior to the complexing step. The resulting mixture is passed on to a filter press or other means for separation of the solids.

    Abstract: A method of enhancing a mineral level in an animal with reduced environmental impact can comprise orally administering a metal amino acid chelate to an animal, wherein the amino acid to metal molar ratio of the metal amino acid chelate is from about 1:1 to 4:1.
