Abstract: Apparatus is provided for extending the life of spinners by means of reinforcement which includes a plurality of arms secured to the bottom wall of a spinner either individually or via an annular plate from which the arms extend. The reinforcement applies a radially inward force on a flange extending from the top or center of an outer sidewall of the spinner. The arms exert the radial force as the result of offset cams, due to a prestressed condition which is released after the reinforcement is installed in a spinner or otherwise. If the spinner includes both a center flange and an upper flange, the reinforcement may be installed to engage the center flange with gussets interconnecting the center flange and the upper flange at least at locations corresponding to the reinforcement to thereby provide reinforcement for both flanges.

  • Patent number: 5576032
Abstract: The annular channel elongate nozzle of an extrusion die (10) suitable for use for extrusion into a travelling mold tunnel, has an inner core (16) profiled for attachment to any one of a number of interchangeable end fitting nozzles outlet (100). The profiling takes the form of a step between an upstream portion (22) of the core and a reduced diameter downstream portion (24). Each end fitting outlet has an annular sleeve (34) to fit about the downstream core portion to extend the surface of the upstream portion of the core. The sleeve abuts the step (26) thereby locating the end fitting outlet correctly. No locking means is necessary between the end fitting and the core in the region of the nozzle. Attachment may be effected between them at a location downstream of the point at which extrudate is extruded into the mold tunnel. Hence, attachment is not hampered by the presence of extrudate and the attachment (40, 20, 25) may not interfere with the flow of extrudate.

Abstract: This apparatus, preferably applicable to a molding machine using the core change type dies, is capable of pushing out the inserted core from the mother mold, thereby facilitating the core extracting operation by the robots. A mother mold of a complementary die in the core change type dies is constituted by a main body and an intermediate plate which is disposed behind the main body and to be movable in both the forward and backward directions. A core fixing and releasing mechanism is provided on the intermediate plate. Furthermore, there is provided a push-out device disposed in a clearance formed between the main body and the intermediate plate when the intermediate plate is shifted rearward. The push-out device has its one surface abutting on a front surface of a core and its another surface abutting on a rear surface of the main body.

Abstract: A polymer resin extrusion head includes one or more annular extrusion modules in which a spiral channel having one or more convolutions extends from a resin inlet on the periphery of the module to an annular extrusion outlet. Preferably, the channel gradually opens into an annular frustoconical space leading to the extreusion outlet at the inner edge of the module. The spiral channel extends symmetrically around the extrusion module or modules in a manner so as to subject all of the extruded polymer flowing from the inlet to the extrusion outlet to substantially the same process conditions along the flow path. As a result, the polymer is distributed at the outlet with properties which are substantially symmetrical around the axis of the extrusion module or modules for all resin distributed to the outlet.
