  • Patent number: 8834143
Abstract: A tire vulcanization mold can be configured to provide stable ventilation. For example, a tire molding surface has a ventilation groove having a rectangular shape in plan view. A blade has upper end, contact and communication sections. The upper end section thickness is smaller than a groove thickness. The contact section below the upper end section contacts both thickness-direction-facing side faces of the groove. The communication section communicates between a ventilation hole, and a small gap is formed between the groove and the upper end section. Alternatively, the blade has a groove section formed in at least one side face that faces in a blade thickness direction and extends between upper and lower blade ends to form a small gap between the groove and groove section. Air and gas pass through the gap and the communication section and vent to an exterior of the mold through the ventilation hole.

  • Patent number: 8827670
Abstract: A dual platen molding machine for constructing a plurality of pre-insulated structural panels is disclosed that includes multiple safety features. The molding machine produces one or more panels that may include one or more c-channels or profiles embedded in expandable polystyrene (EPS) foam to provide structural integrity to the panels, and resulting wall. A chase may be formed horizontally in the panels to provide a wiring conduit through the panel. The molding machine is electrically operated to control the movement of a movable molding portion when closed upon a stationary molding portion. Steam may be controlled to fuse insulating material such as expandable polystyrene (EPS) in cavities formed between the movable mold and the stationary mold. No hydraulics is required to operate the dual platen molding machine, thus improving operating and maintenance costs. Moreover, steam hoses may be avoided, thereby improving overall safety.

Abstract: Self-stripping thermoforming insert allows a newly formed article to be removed easily from the forming insert by compressing a region within the insert surface creating a void that allows the newly formed article to separate from the surface of the self-stripping insert. The portion of the insert that compresses is spring loaded and air driven. After the article has cooled the device is activated freeing the newly formed article for simple higher quality components from the thermoforming process.

  • Patent number: 8079839
Abstract: The bladder for vulcanizing tires having a plurality of first air-release grooves provided on the outer surface of a bladder body and each formed so as to extend from one to the other of the tire circumferential direction and extend toward one side of the tire-width direction, and a plurality of second air-release grooves provided on the outer surface of a bladder body and each formed so as to extend from one to the other of the tire circumferential direction and extend toward the other side of the tire-width direction. By this, the outer surface of the bladder body is divided into a plurality of areas by each of the air-release grooves. Also, the vertexes of each of the areas are angular toward the tire-circumferential direction. Therefore, the pressure contact between each of the areas and the inner surface of the tire is easily released starting at the said vertexes of each of the areas as release starting points.

  • Patent number: 8033819
Abstract: A mold includes a gate communicating with the entire perimeter of a cavity serving as a space configured to form a molded article. A self-curable molding material with flowability is fed into the perimeter of the cavity through the gate; hence, the mold has a small number of dead ends compared with the case where, for example, the molding material is fed into the cavity through a part of the cavity, preventing the formation of bubbles left in the cavity. The arrangement of a gate and a vent each making an acute angle results in the spontaneous separation of the molded article in the cavity from solidified material portions in the gate and the vent due to shrinkage on curing.

  • Patent number: 8021136
Abstract: The present invention differs fundamentally from prior art because it provides for machining a substantial number of relatively thin annular tooling plates (10), fitting them together side-by-side in two opposed mold sides, and engraving the tread pattern into the interior face of the assembled plates in two or more complementary mold parts to form a unique tire mold (12). In one form of the disclosed construction two halves are built up and internally engraved to form a two-piece clamshell mold. This building up of annular plates (10) applies also to the construction of segmented molds, wherein there are multiple complementary mold sections which are joined to provide a complete circumferential mold. Thus, the invention applies to both two-piece clamshell molds and segmented molds. The invention encompasses an all engraved mold and all venting (22) in the circumferential direction.
