    Abstract: In a ground cable to be applied to an on-vehicle wiring harness or the like, the aim is to make it easy and simple to conduct the waterproofing work. A first sealant 6 of the UV-cure type having as a contact angle with respect to the bare conductor 1a of the ground cable 1 an acute one and a viscosity of 15-500 mPa·s is delivered by drops onto the bare conductor. The first sealant 6 is delivered by drops onto a second sealant 7. The first and second sealants 6 and 7 are irradiated by ultraviolet rays. This permits the first sealant 6 to, without the need to suck-decompress the interior of the ground cable 1, by dint of capillarity, spontaneously permeate into the cable core 1b of the ground cable 1 to be then cured. Even in case where a ground terminal 2 has a pair of ground cables 1 crimped thereonto, each ground cable 1 permits an adequate amount of the sealant 6 to, with ease, permeate it.

    Abstract: A data communication cable can comprise multiple pairs of twisted conductors. A jacket that extends along the outside surface of the cable can define a longitudinal core, internal to the cable. The conductor pairs can be disposed in the core of the cable along with a foam matrix or a porous filler, with the matrix and the conductors occupying essentially all of the volume of the core. The foam matrix can hold each conductor pair in a respective location within the cable core to control signal crosstalk on each pair. A co-extrusion process can produce the cable via simultaneously extruding the foam matrix and the jacket. A pulling apparatus can feed the conductor pairs though respective ports of an extrusion head-and-die assembly. As one extruder encases the moving conductor pairs in the foam matrix, another extruder forms the jacket over the matrix and the embedded conductors.

    Abstract: In a coating method, such as a droplet discharge method which requires baking, it is an object of the present invention to reduce the baking temperature at the time of forming a wiring and a conductive film. As a feature of the present invention, a composition, in which nanoparticles of a conductive material are dispersed in a solvent, is discharged using a droplet discharge method, and then dried to vaporize the solvent. Then, pretreatment using active oxygen is performed. After which, baking is then performed, whereby a wiring and a conductive film are formed. By performance of the pretreatment by active oxygen before the baking, a baking temperature at the time of forming the wiring and conductive film can be reduced.

    Abstract: Self-extinguishing cable coated with a flame-retardant composition having: (a) an ethylene homopolymer or copolymer having a density of from 0.905 to 0.970 g/cm3, and being selected from: ethylene homopolymers: copolymers of ethylene with an alpha-olefin; copolymers of ethylene with an ethylenically unsaturated ester; or mixtures thereof; (b) a copolymer of ethylene with at least one alpha-olefin, and optionally with a diene, said copolymer (b) having a density of from 0.860 to 0.904 g/cm3, and having a composition distribution index greater than 45%; (c) natural magnesium hydroxide in an amount such as to impart flame-retardant properties; wherein at least one of the polymeric components (a) and (b) contains hydrolyzable organic silane groups grafted onto the polymer chain. The silane groups are preferably introduced during compounding of the flame-retardant composition by adding to the polymer mixture a suitable silane compound and a radical initiator.
