  • Patent number: 10253148
Abstract: It is a method for modifying a resin (6), the method for hydrophilizing the surface of the resin (6). High-concentration ozone gas and an unsaturated hydrocarbon gas are supplied to the surface of the resin (6), and the surface of the resin (6) is hydrophilized. The high-concentration ozone gas is generated by re-vaporizing liquid ozone obtained by liquefaction and fractional distillation of an ozone-containing gas. Ozone gas having an ozone concentration of 50 vol % or greater is used as the high-concentration ozone gas. A gas containing an unsaturated hydrocarbon with a carbon number of 10 or lower which has a double bond or a triple bond is used as the unsaturated hydrocarbon gas.

Abstract: High range activated clotting time (HR-ACT) tests detect blood clotting time in blood samples which have high levels of heparin. Reagents such as calcium chloride and kaolin within the test apparatus trigger clotting. The cartridge is treated with a strong surface treatment process, such as an atmospheric plasma treatment, to increase the hydrophilic property of the test chamber, there may be a significant reduction in the kaolin concentration required to activate the blood sample and initiate the coagulation process. The kaolin concentration may be further reduced if the buffer component used in the buffer saline contains phosphate. The reduction of the kaolin concentration allows more calcium to be released from the kaolin to participate in the clotting process. The combined effect of adding a surface treatment to the cartridge to increase the hydrophilic property of reaction chamber and adding phosphate into buffered saline allows for clot detection of blood samples containing 5˜6 U/mL heparin.

  • Patent number: 8652578
Abstract: A method of forming a cured coating composition on an automobile component is provided. The method utilizes a coating compound including a radical polymerizable compound and an organoborane initiator and includes the step of applying the coating composition to the automobile component. The organoborane initiator is complexed with a bi-functional noncyclic blocking agent that has a carbon backbone and two organoborane complexing moieties. The two moieties are different from each other and are selected from the group of an amine moiety, a thiol moiety, and a phosphine moiety. In addition, the two moieties are separated from each other by two to four carbon atoms to increase the nucleophilicity of the blocking agent towards the organoborane initiator. The organoborane initiator is decomplexed from the blocking agent thereby forming a radical that is used to polymerize the radical polymerizable compound and cure the coating composition on the automobile component.

  • Patent number: 8647716
Abstract: A method of dissociating an organoborane-amine complex in a coating composition is provided. The method includes the step of introducing the organoborane-amine complex, the radical polymerizable compound, and optionally an amine, onto a substrate to form the coating composition. The method also includes the step of introducing carbon dioxide into the coating composition in a molar ratio of at least 1:1 of the carbon dioxide to free amine groups present in the coating composition. More specifically, a carbamic zwitterion is formed in-situ from reaction of the carbon dioxide and the free amine groups. The formation of the carbamic zwitterion leads to dissociation of the organoborane-amine complex and formation of a radical. The radical is then used to polymerize the radical polymerizable compound.

  • Publication number: 20140022521
Abstract: An underlayer is formed to cover the upper surface of a substrate and a guide pattern is formed on the underlayer. A DSA film constituted by two types of polymers is formed in a region on the underlayer where the guide pattern is not formed. Thermal processing is performed while a solvent is supplied to the DSA film on the substrate. Thus, a microphase separation of the DSA film occurs. As a result, patterns made of the one polymer and patterns made of another polymer are formed. Exposure processing and development processing are performed in this order on the DSA film after the microphase separation such that the patterns made of another polymer are removed.
