Abstract: A surface fastener member includes left and right longitudinal protective wall sections and front and rear lateral protective wall sections. Each of the lateral protective wall sections includes an outer first lateral wall section and an inner second lateral wall section. The first lateral wall section includes a continuous lateral wall body which is continuously placed between the left and right longitudinal protective wall sections at a predetermined height. The second lateral wall section includes a plurality of divided lateral wall bodies which are intermittently placed along a width direction, and a plurality of second engagement elements. According to this, when the molded surface fastener is integrally molded on a cushion body, it is possible to prevent resin material from entering an engagement element region of the surface fastener member.

Abstract: Provided is a molding hook and loop fastener, in which a barrier erected near left and right side edges of a substrate includes at least two rows of vertical wall arrays, and the vertical wall array includes a plurality of vertical walls disposed alternately. Between the two adjacent, rows of the vertical walls disposed alternately, each of the vertical walls disposed on one row is connected to two vertical walls disposed on the other row via a connecting part, and the connecting part connects one end portion of one vertical wall disposed on the adjacent row and the other end portion of the other vertical wall. Due to this, in the molding hook and loop fastener an outer side and an inner side of the barrier can be divided by the vertical wall array and the connecting part, and flexibility of the molding hook and loop fastener can be improved.

Abstract: A motorcycle fairing cover is made of a stretch-recovery fabric having a front face and an opposite face and defining an opening. The stretch-recovery fabric is stretched to place it into position over the motorcycle fairing. One or more non-slip patches or tapes are appended to or formed on the opposite face adapted to contact the motorcycle fairing when the cover is installed. A motorcycle headlight is exposed through the opening. Optional fasteners may be included for joining or tying the motorcycle fairing mask to a motorcycle component.

The thread systems are connected to one another with the formation of passage sites (24a-24d) whose free cross-sectional area takes up more than 20% of the corresponding backing area.

Abstract: A touch fastener strip includes a pair of longitudinal barrier walls each extending upward from a base, a plurality of lateral barrier walls each extending upward from the base and between facing surfaces of the barrier walls, thereby defining one or more fastening cells, and a pair of wave walls each extending upward from the base and outboard the barrier walls thereby defining a relief space. Each wave wall has a wave shape having rising and falling edges, at least one of the edges having a slope in the range of 3° to 65°. In some cases, the wave shape has a duty cycle of 40% to 60%, and may include a sine wave, a triangle wave, a ramp wave, and/or a bi-modal wave having two different peak points in a given cycle of the shape. In one example application, the strip may be anchored in a foam cushion product.

Abstract: Enclosures and panels for forming such enclosures can include a first edge having a front side and a rear side, each side having a first portion of a fastening medium thereon, and a second edge having first and second flaps, each flap having an inner surface with a second portion of the fastening medium thereon. The flaps of a first panel can engaged with the front and rear sides of an adjacent panel, and similarly, any number of adjacent panels can be engaged in this manner to form a sealed enclosure, usable for maintaining a pressure differential between the interior and exterior thereof.

Abstract: A vehicle floor mat includes a sheet of flexible thermoplastic elastomer containing at least one rigid plastic insert. The insert includes Velcro® hooks extending downwardly from its bottom surface for connecting the mat to a vehicle carpet or Velcro® loops on a pad connected to the vehicle floor pan. The insert is molded in a first injection molding operation, and then the sheet is molded around the top, sides and ends of the insert.

Abstract: A male touch fastener strip includes an elongated base and a field of male fastener elements. The male touch fastener strip also includes longitudinal barrier walls rising from the broad face of the base on either side of the field of male fastener elements, and a pair of segmented walls. Each segmented wall and its nearest longitudinal barrier wall define therebetween a foam relief space. Each segmented wall defines a flow gap for allowing the foam material to enter the foam relief space.

Abstract: A structured surface, which includes a thermoplastic backing sheet and a first upstanding element, is disclosed. The first upstanding element includes multiple, spaced-apart posts and a single cap at the distal ends of the multiple, spaced-apart posts. The structured surface furthermore typically includes a plurality of spaced-apart, upstanding posts with caps on their distal ends, where the ratio of the caps to the posts is less than one-to-one. Also disclosed is a method of making a structured surface. The method includes providing a thermoplastic backing sheet with a plurality of spaced-apart, upstanding posts; and deforming the distal ends to form caps on at least some of the spaced-apart, upstanding posts. At least some of the caps upon forming touch at least one adjacent cap to form a conjoined cap at the distal ends of multiple posts.

Abstract: Fasteners are generally described. In some examples, a fastener may include at least one hook. The at least one hook may include an arcuate portion and a linking portion. The arcuate portion may be connected by the linking portion to a pivot point. The pivot point may be located with respect to the first member so that, as the linking portion pivots around the pivot point, the arcuate portion moves along an arcuate path between a non-fastening position and a fastening position. In the fastening position the arcuate portion may extend beyond the first member to engage with the second member to secure it to the first member.

Abstract: The present invention describes improved systems and methods for attaching external medical devices to the body of a patient using a multilayer attachment apparatus. Medical devices that require attachment to the body, including monitoring devices, drug-infusing devices and the like, can utilize embodiments of the attachment apparatus and method described herein. Embodiments of the invention include new adhesive and hook and loop attachment mechanisms and methods for using embodiments of the multilayer attachment apparatus to attach medical device and/or medical device components to the body.

The bond zone circumscribes the first bond line and the second bond line. The plurality of consecutive sweep regions are disposed within the bond zone. At least one sweep region includes a portion of both the first bond line and the second bond line, and the remaining sweep regions include at least a portion of the first or the second bond lines. The receiving component has a bond ratio greater than or equal to about 1 and less than or equal to about 20.

Abstract: An apparatus for covering a pipe component comprises a base layer having first and second edges sized and shaped to extend around a pipe such that the first and second edges are proximate to each other and a polymer layer applied over the base layer. The apparatus further comprises a first fastener applied to the first edge between the base layer and the polymer layer and a second fastener applied to the second edge between the first base layer and the polymer layer adapted to engage the first fastener. The apparatus may be formed by wrapping the sheet about a mold connecting the first and second fasteners together with a wire therebetween, applying the first fastener and second fasteners to the first and second edges, applying a layer of polymer over the first and second fasteners and removing the wire from between the first and second fasteners.

Abstract: An exercise equipment protective covering system and method is disclosed which generally comprises a front surface having an upper portion and a lower portion. A back surface is coupled to the upper portion of the front surface such that a retention pocket is formed there between. A pair of retention straps are coupled to the lower portion of the front surface and used to secure the protective covering to an exercise training bench. The front surface may include a graphical indicia thereon. Also, an accessory pocket is coupled to the protective covering for the storage of personal items.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for teaching skills to a child includes a toy barn kit which has a plurality of structural elements including walls, gables, and roof panels which can be assembled into a completed toy barn. The structural elements have color coded connectors and mating connectors which assist the child in the assembly process. In performing the assembly, the child learns skills of (1) principles of construction, (2) spatial relationships, (3) sequential thinking, and (4) color recognition and matching.

Abstract: A patch that can be affixed to handwear, such as a glove, to extend the life of the glove by providing a wear-resistant surface. An operable patch can repair one or more hole in the glove, and/or provide a primary wear surface disposed over the glove's conventional exterior surface. A preferred patch includes an adhesive layer that bonds the patch to the handwear. A bead of adhesive, such as cyanoacrylate, can be added to the perimeter of the patch for additional security of installation. A preferred wear-resistant surface is formed by a drapable layer carrying a plurality of fibrous loop structures on one side. Certain embodiments are structured to permit a user to make a tool-free repair of handwear in the field.

Abstract: A fastening strip for touch fasteners is provided which includes a corrugated portion as well as fastening elements. The corrugated portion allows the strip to be bent in a plane perpendicular as well as parallel with the longitudinal axis of the strip such that it may be applied to curved surfaces and remain substantially flat. Fastening elements such as hooks, loops, mushroom-shaped, bulbous and double hooks may be included on both sides of the strip and on the walls of the channels that form the corrugations as well as between the corrugations. The corrugated fastening strips may be useful for automotive seating and diaper applications. Processes for forming the corrugated fastening strip area also disclosed.

Abstract: A system for removably attaching a decorative element to a garment or other accessory, including a panel bearing a graphic design, and a pair of mounting pads to which the panel can be attached. First and second pin members are disposed at opposing edges of the panel, each pin member having a pin extending for a length parallel to that edge. The mounting pads are attachable to a garment or accessory item. Each mounting pad has a longitudinal tunnel suitable to accommodate one of the pins. The mounting pads may be attached on the outside of an article, or on the interior of an article so that only the tunnel is exposed at the exterior of the article, in a recessed manner. The system allows a decorative panel to be interchangeably facilitates their attachment to a wide range of apparel and accessory items.

Abstract: After observing patio heaters at many events, hotels and restaurants, we, as decorators, knew they have little decorative appeal in beautiful settings. Patio heaters have gained popularity as people are enjoying more outdoor entertaining. We designed a cover to “hide” the heaters. Our cover is a tailored, box-pleat skirt design with three pleats, two side pleats are inset with fabric mesh to allow for ventilation of the tank, and detailed with a welt trim. Like a slip-cover, it fits over the neck and base of the heater, fastened with hook/loop sewn inside. All components are fire retardant. They are machine washable, hold their shape, offer protection from the elements, and have easy setup, and access to controls.

The first layer and the second layer have a first cut-out and a second cut-out for the door knob.

Abstract: An adhesive material that contains a plurality of setae that include a stalk and spatula extending therefrom is provided. To form the adhesive material, a substantially planar substrate may be initially molded to define the setae. In this initial configuration, the setae are positioned substantially in the plane of the substrate. The substrate is then physically manipulated (e.g., folded, bent, corrugated, rotated, etc.) so that the setae become extended in an outwardly direction from the plane. Among other things, this provides a three-dimensional material having enhanced adhesive properties.

Abstract: A hook-and-loop component embedded with a foam material is disclosed herein and includes a band body having a first surface and a second surface, the first surface and the second surface being opposite to each other and the hook-and-loop component is characterized in that: a plurality of pores disposed on the band body; a plurality of hair loops disposed on the first surface; and a magnetic material disposed on the second surface and is corresponding to a disposed position of the hair loops. The disposed position of the hair loops and the magnetic material includes an interval away from an edge of the first surface and the second surface.

The structures may be used on either the attachment pieces, anchor sheets or both. In one embodiment, the structure is a deformable margin; in another embodiment, the structure is a pull-away strip.

As fixed, each bit (14, 14a, 14b) is oriented with at least one of its projection heads (18) raised from the support surface (12) to releasably engage fibers (30). Bits (14, 14a, 14b) are made by pelletizing shaped rails (36). Applications include securing floor coverings (150).

Abstract: A fastening fabric structure is disclosed to have a micro-fibriform loop fabric, fabricated by complex, textured micro-fiber yarn and split thereafter to recover more and smaller fibers, all of the fibers forming the micro-fibriform loops or pile loops between the inter-weaving or inter-knitting nodes, and a fibriform pile fabric, fabricated by spun yarn or synthetic filament yarn and sheared to form erected, dispersed non-hook fiber bundles of micro-fibriform pile for fastening the micro-fibriform loops of said micro-fibriform loop fabric. The erected, dispersed non-hook fiber bundles of micro-fibriform pile will not be tangled together, enhancing the fastening ability of the fastening fabric.

Abstract: A loop material for a hook and loop type fastener is a composite nonwoven. The composite nonwoven consists of a loop layer, a backing layer, and a plurality of bond regions. The loop layer may be a carded nonwoven of thermoplastic crimped staple fiber. The staple fiber may be between 1.5 to 6.0 dTEX. The loop layer may have a basis weight of between 10 and 35 g/m2. The backing layer may be a spunbond or spunmelt nonwoven having a basis weight of 5 to 30 g/m2. The loop layer may be superimposed face-to-face with the backing layer. The plurality of bond regions joins the loop layer to the backing layer and rendering said bond regions substantially air impermeable. The bond regions comprise between 35 to 55% of a surface area of the loop material.
