The gridwork includes at least one continuous filament selected from the group consisting of glass, carbon, and aramid. The open gridwork is flat, corrugated, or double corrugated. The corrugated gridwork may be sinusoidal. The open gridwork may be part of a shoe midsole or may constitute a shoe midsole.

    Abstract: Oriented strand board is post-fabrication treated with a polymeric coating which includes isocyanate constituents to produce a construction material which is smooth, has high gloss, and which is resistant to water, vapor, and chemical penetration. Prior to application of the coating composition, the surface of the oriented strand board is pretreated using heat and pressure to compress and densify wood at the surface, and to smooth out minor surface irregularities. The coating composition is then applied to the wood surface, and is cured to form a polymeric coating which bonds to the wood material.

In cement boards, the glass fiber facing sheet of the present invention is preferably mechanically integrated into a surface portion of the cement core along the exposed grid profile of the scrim.

The fibers are maintained in position by a resin encasement that completely encloses the fibers. A cellulose surface material is impregnated with a polyester resin and adhesively connected to a first side of the panel. The first side of the panel is adhesively affixed to the wood structure at an area of high stress such that the surface material is sandwiched between the resin encasement of the panel and the wood structure. Thus, the panel provides improved adhesion.

    Abstract: The invention comprises engineered structural wood products particularly useful in critical applications such as joists, headers, and beams where longer lengths, greater widths, and higher and predictable stress ratings may be required. The invention is also directed to a method for making the wood products. Most logs by nature are radially anisotropic, having wood of higher density and stiffness in their outer portion adjacent the bark than is found in the inner portion. The logs are machined to segregate the denser, stiffer outer wood. A first generally rectangular component is formed from the less dense inner wood. Second generally rectangular components are formed from the stiffer outer wood. Second components are adhesively bonded to at least one edge of the first component, more usually to opposite edges. The stiffer wood is thus specifically placed where it will contribute most effectively to the properties of the product.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a shoe repair composite material having a cloth layer bonded to the bottom of a shoe with a bonding adhesive layer. These two layers are bonded together and then covered with peel-removable paper to protect the contact cement and the bonding adhesive. In an alternative embodiment, the cloth layer is covered with a vinyl layer having a thickness of approximately 0.020 inches to provide a tough, inelastic and scuff-resistant outer layer. This vinyl layer provides a plurality of approximately 700 embossed protrusions per square inch to provide scuff-resistance and increased traction.

    Abstract: The invention provides a laminated article such as a door trim board capable of maintaining a bonding effect for a long period of time by integrally forming a base member and a skin member without forming the skin member in the shape of a sheet and without using an adhesive, and a manufacturing method of the laminated article by which reduction in the quantity of materials to be used and simplification of manufacturing steps are achieved. A porous base member (11) molded in the shape of a door trim board and a molten resin (12melt) supplied on the surface of the porous base member are pressed between a pair of molds (31, 32) so that the molten resin (12melt) is impregnated into the porous base member at least at the front surface thereof and hardened to form a skin member (12) on the porous base member (11). In the door trim board thus obtained, the resin forming the skin member (12) and the porous base member (11) are integrated by an anchor effect of resin with a reliable strength thereof retained.

    Abstract: A flexible, multi-layer filter for separating solid and liquid wastes. In a preferred embodiment, the filter includes first, second, third, and fourth layers, interconnected by appropriately spaced connectors. The first layer comprises sub-layers of parallel strands, wherein the strands in one sub-layer cross and overlap the strands in the other sub-layer to form a netting. The second layer comprises a fibrous mat, and the third layer comprises a netting like that of the first layer. The fourth layer includes a porous filter cloth. The third layer may be cut to form end and side tabs for retaining the filter inside a conventional waste container. After a semi-solid mixture of waste is poured, dumped, or otherwise placed into the waste container, liquid waste passes through the filter layers under the force of gravity. The liquid waste is channelled through the first layer along the bottom of the waste container.

The OSB-fiberboard composite product is clad with a wood fiber overlay on one major surface of the baseboard. The composite board is manufactured without warping, by providing particular OSB layer thicknesses, such that the lower OSB layer is about 25% to about 35% thicker than the OSB layer bonded to the fiberboard.

The fibers are maintained in position by a resin encasement that completely encloses the fibers. A cellulose surface material is impregnated with a polyester resin and adhesively connected to a first side of the panel. The first side of the panel is adhesively affixed to the wood structure at an area of high stress such that the surface material is sandwiched between the resin encasement of the panel and the wood structure. Thus, the panel provides improved adhesion. The polyester resin provides dimensional stability and resistance to moisture degradation.

    Abstract: A composite resinold/graphite/diamond blade is described having enhanced precision cutting properties. The blade is made by assembling several layers, each layer comprising a veil of non-woven graphite fabric impregnated with a mixture of diamond particles blended into a phenolic resin. Layers are built up in sandwich fashion. In one embodiment described, four layers are formed and, in a heating compression molding operation, the sandwich is compressed into a composite blade having a diameter of 4.7 inches with a thickness of 0.011 inch. The final blade is formed by a die cut and lapping process. The layered construction yields a blade with more consistent cross-section and improves blade wear symmetry. In another embodiment, the layers are tailored to have a grit concentration of the diamond/resin mixture at the periphery or cutting edge.
