  • Publication number: 20090041985
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a composite component reinforced by stiffening elements. Composite component is produced by the inside gluing of a monolithic component to a multiplicity of stiffening elements by means of an adhesive suitable for this particular application. Stiffening elements are formed with a fibre reinforced, amorphous thermoplastic material. Monolithic component of composite component consists of a fibre reinforced duroplastic material—for example a composite epoxy matrix—in which are embedded, for reinforcement, carbon fibres, basalt fibres, natural fibres, ceramic fibres, aramide® fibres, kevlar® fibres or any combination thereof. Monolithic component is glued to thermoplastic stiffening elements by an adhesive under the influence of pressure and temperature. Here a tolerance compensation is carried out essentially by stiffening elements, if necessary being plastically deformed, so that high dimensional stability is achieved.

Abstract: Nonwoven materials having a pattern incorporated into the materials are disclosed. The nonwoven materials may be, for instance, tissue webs, meltspun webs such as meltblown webs or spunbond webs, bonded carded webs, hydroentangled webs, and the like. The pattern may be incorporated into the webs using various techniques. For instance, the pattern may be formed into the web by topically applying a bonding material. In an alternative embodiment, the pattern may be formed according to a thermal bonding process. The pattern contains individual cells that include two spaced apart expanded regions separated by a constricted region. By incorporating the pattern into the web, a material is produced having a relatively low Poisson ratio.

Abstract: The invention provides for a label such as a temper evident holographic or diffractive security label that consists of at least two separate microstructures (30, 31), one exhibiting a holographic or diffractive security image, the other a non visible non-diffractive structure which controls differential release of a reflector or semi reflector layer (27) to display a separate visual message upon removal of the label by tamper. The advantage over previous prior art devices is that both the diffractive message and the tamper evident message are encoded within the microstructure without any need for additional coating or print layers in the device.

Abstract: A disposable wearing article includes a liquid-pervious topsheet, a liquid-impervious backsheet, a liquid-absorbent core interposed between the top- and backsheets, a pair of liquid-impervious leak-barrier sheets and a pair of elastically stretchable sheets. Each portion of the aforesaid sheets placed one upon another are joined together by means of adhesives and the core is joined to inner surfaces of the top- and backsheets by means of adhesives. Adhesives are defined by a plurality of adhesive lines continuously extending in a given direction and each of the adhesive lines includes first and second zones arranged alternately in the given direction along the adhesive line. A quantity of adhesives in the first zone is much more than a quantity of adhesives in the second zone.

  • Patent number: 7211312
Abstract: The zone of weakening, which is designed as a slot (6a), is bordered by film material (7) on both sides according to length, i.e., across the direction of loading, which is indicated by the arrows F. Tearing (8) which progresses from the edge because of microscopic damage comes to a standstill at the slot (6a) at the latest, because stress peaks are dissipated here and the locally increased stresses are diverted into elements of the film material (7) which are under less stress. Other embodiments include a locally interrupted adhesive layer for separation of an upper film layer from a lower film layer, these two film layers being otherwise glued together. The adhesive-free recesses here constitute zones of weakening in the sense of the present invention. This therefore prevents tears from spreading from one film layer to the next. Furthermore, the propagation of tearing is counteracted due to the dissipation of stresses when a tear that forms in the film layer reaches the zone of weakening.

  • Patent number: 7078089
Abstract: Disclosed herein are elastic laminate materials. The elastic laminate materials are laminates of extensible nonwoven fibrous webs and thermoplastic elastic materials. The laminate may be a two-layer composite material having a single nonwoven fibrous web bonded to one side of the thermoplastic elastic material, or it may be a three-layer composite having a nonwoven fibrous web bonded to each side of the thermoplastic elastic material. The extensible nonwoven fibrous webs may be staple fiber webs. The thermoplastic elastic material may be single-layer or multi-layer elastic films, or elastic fibrous layers. Where single- or multi-layer elastic films are used, the films may be breathable films. The elastic material, or some of the staple fibers, or both, may be selected such that the staple fiber webs are thermally compatible with the thermoplastic elastic material to facilitate laminate bonding. Processes for forming the elastic laminate material are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7048991
Abstract: An elastic composite is formed by securing an elastic member to a substrate along a securement path extending longitudinally of the substrate. The position of the elastic member on the substrate varies laterally along the longitudinally extending securement path in a generally periodic wave pattern having at least one period within the securement path. The periodic wave pattern is such that the elastic composite is more stretchable in the direction of the securement path than transverse to the securement path. In another embodiment, the securement path varies laterally as it extends longitudinally along the securement path. The position of the elastic member varies transversely within the securement path to at least partially define a width of the securement path.
