Abstract: High density metal or mineral particles, sized to be less than 10 microns, are compounded into a base plastic layer to form a compounded composite layer used to form the core layer of the card, any layer of the card or the entire card. The amount of high density particles compounded into the plastic layer is controlled so the card: (a) is at least twice as heavy as any standard PVC card; (b) can be manufactured using standard current plastic card equipment and tooling. (c) is not brittle; and (d) is electrically non-conductive whereby it is not subject to electrostatic discharge properties. The card can include RFID functionality integrated into the card body. The compounded composite layer does not interfere with the integrity of the data communication between an RFID chip packaged in an antenna module and coupled with an embedded booster antenna, and a contactless reader or terminal.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are tiles, coatings, and related methods that provide both high cleanability and high slip resistance. The coating can be a surface coating with a unique chemical make-up. The surface coating can also have particles suspended within it. During a firing process, the coating and particles can settle in such a manner that the surface structure of the coating, and thus the surface structure of the tile, is both easy to clean and slip-resistant.

Abstract: A transparent layered structure having a high abrasion resistance and a high scratch resistance and a method for producing such a transparent layered structure are provided. A transparent layered structure (1) includes: a plate-like transparent resin base (2); and a transparent protective film (3) located on one surface of the base (2). The heat resistance, for example, of the base (2) is set in a predetermined range so that a light-weight transparent layered structure (1) having a predetermined load resistance is achieved. The protective film (3) includes a silicone resin composition including 9 wt % or more of cage silsesquioxane and fine particles (4) constituted by glass fine particles or metal oxide fine particles subjected to a surface treatment with a silane compound under predetermined conditions. Thus, the transparent layered structure (1) obtains a high abrasion resistance and a high scratch resistance.
