Abstract: The present invention relates to decorative bows formed from a folded pattern of a laminated substrate. The substrate comprises one or more layers of printed material laminated between two layers of laminate film so that the print is visible on both sides of the substrate. In order to match the bow to gift wrap the substrate can be formed from gift wrap paper with a protective film laminated to the printed side of the paper. As gift wrap is normally only printed on one side, two sheets of gift wrap are laminated with their unprinted sides together resulting in a substrate having printed material on both sides with a protective film on each side. The gift wrap can be substituted with cardboard, fabric, vinyl, plastic or other film. By laminating the material the resulting bows are waterproof, durable, reusable.

Abstract: Hand-holdable novelty article comprising a handle, a light source and a plurality of sections of color shifting film. The light source is preferably disposed within an end of the handle. The plurality of sections of color shifting film extend from the end of the handle. During use, light from the light source interacts with the plurality of strands of color shifting film, producing a brilliant colored effect. Movement of the plurality of sections of color shifting film produces multiple colors.

Abstract: A decorative pompon having a plurality of elongated elements of a predetermined length bound together with a retaining ring and extending generally radially outward therefrom. At least one of the elements is a tube that may be used to guide an anchor thread through the retaining ring so that the pompon may be easily secured to an article such as clothing, toys, luggage, packaging and jewelry.

Abstract: A bundle of strands of a plastic or textile material are arranged so as to be bundled together and attached, mechanically, to a handle consisting of a pair of spaced apart legs with a spherical knob at the end of each of the legs for facilitating the grasping of the device, a pompon. The handle is configured to accept a finger of one hand between the legs in order to hold the pompon and this construction prevents the handle from easily slipping off the finger since the spacing between the spheres is too small to allow a finger to pass through. The two spheres also provide an indicia that make the spheres appear as eyeballs. As such, the pompon may be used for shaking as by cheer leaders without the fear of being dropped, or may be placed on any surface with the handle extending upwardly, and then appears to be a small creature with a thick furry coat and a pair of eyes observing its surroundings.

Abstract: A decorative ribbon is shown including a controllable adhesive on the backside thereof for select placement on package material and select removal, if necessary, therefrom without damage to the package. The decorative ribbon according to the present invention may include incomplete die cutting to provide portions of the ribbon which may be selectively moved out of the plane of the ribbon, but remain attached to the ribbon body. Furthermore, the incomplete die cuts may define ribbon portions which may be torn from the ribbon body whereby, by use of the controllable adhesive on the backside thereof, the ribbon elements may be selectively placed about a gift package according to user preference. A stretch ribbon includes alternating transverse die cuts directed inward from outside edges of the ribbon whereby upon application of longitudinal forces the ribbon stretches beyond its natural length and assumes a three dimensional character.

A pouch accommodates the gift items and is connected to a bottom side of the support. An elongated element, especially a relatively narrow decorative ribbon, having a central portion secured to the bottom side of the support and two free end portions of substantially equal length integral with the central portion is used for establishing the connection between the pouch and the support in that its end portions are tied in a knot about a substantially central portion of the pouch. The gift items fill the pouch less then completely so that the tying of the free end portions of the elongated element around the central portion of the pouch results in the formation of a constriction at such location.

Abstract: An adorning article includes a pair of elongated ribbons subdivided into consecutive segments connected in succession by respective neck portions, a pair of drawstrings, and a multitude of retainer members that are applied to the neck portions to connect them to one another. Each of the ribbons includes a stem portion and a branch portion merging with one another at a merger region. At least one of the segments of each of the branch portions is folded back into juxtaposition with an adjacent segment of the same branch portion and is connected by a respective retainer member to that of the neck portions that connects the adjacent segment with the next one.

Abstract: An apparel accessory (10) is disclosed including a scarf body (12) formed by folding a sheet (20) of fabric to create first and second layers (22, 24) overlying each other and having staggered, free longitudinal edges. First and second, parallel, spaced, longitudinal rows of stitches (26, 28) extend through layers (22, 24) generally intermediate the longitudinal edges of the scarf body (12) and form and define a tunnel (30) for frictionally, slideably receiving a drawstring (16). By pushing the scarf body (12) relative to the drawstring (16), the scarf body (12) can be variably held in a gathered, three dimensional condition on the drawstring (16) for draping on the wearer in a variety of positions and modes. The portions of the drawstring (16) beyond the scarf body (12) in its gathered condition provide tying provisions for the accessory (10) for tying the ends together and/or for tying the ends to the clothing of the wearer.

Abstract: A decorative ornament that is constructed generally in the shape of a bow, flower or tree which is formed by wrapping a first section of sheet material on a rigid core. The first section includes a plurality of spaced apart cuts which extend between a solid upper border and a solid lower border. When the first section is folded over upon itself with the borders abutting, the material located between the cuts each form a loop. The first section is basically in the shape of a truncated cone with the left edge being of a short length and the right edge being of a longer length. The first section is to be overlapped with the borders abutting and then wrapped on the core. Wrapping in a direct overlapping arrangement will produce one type of ornament and wrapping longitudinally along the core will produce another type of ornament. Also, different types of decorative ornaments are produced when the wrapping starts with the short edge or the long edge.

Abstract: A decoration is formed by feeding a flat sheet of material between a pair of rotating rollers having intermeshed teeth which produce a series of pleats in the sheet. The pleats are gathered together by placing the pleated sheet between a pair of parallel, spaced apart plates and then moving a compressor plate between the spaced apart plates to compact the pleats. A tie can be fastened around the compacted, pleated sheet to hold the pleats in a gathered state. The tied sheet is removed from between the plates and ends of the gathered pleats are fanned out on at least on side of the tie. Apparatus for pleating the sheet and compressing the pleats is disclosed.

Abstract: This invention relates to a prefabricated bow product comprising at least one strip, which is formed with notches defining a plurality of loop-forming portions and optionally an end portion, and at least one tape, which extends beside the strip or between two such strips. Adjacent to the notches the at least one strip and the tape are loosely held together by a substantially annular clip. If two of such strips are provided, the strips and the tape are firmly joined at the end portion. To accomplish the object and to provide a prefabricated bow product which is friendly to the environment and yet has the properties required for a prefabricated bow product, two of the strips may be provided, which are parallel to each other, and at least such strips consist of paper and are joined in the end portion to the at least one tape by at least one clip.

The rack, fabricated of transparent material, is composed of a base plate having a center post anchored thereon on which are supported at least two tier plates, one above the other, each tier having a ring of equi-spaced holes therein coaxial with the center post. The upper tier ring has a diameter greater than that of the lower tier ring, whereby each hole in the upper ring is spaced a greater distance from the post than the corresponding hole in the lower ring.

Abstract: Disclosed is an ornamental bow used as an adornment for gift boxes, hair, apparel, notebooks, tote bags, name tags, and the like, formed of garland having a selected length, width, and diameter. The garland is tightly wrapped in a planar coil, with the ends of the core of the garland being joined beneath said planar coil. The joined ends and the planar coil are secured to a base portion of a display card by glue and/or staples. An upper portion of the display card is connected to the base portion by tear perforations and includes an opening for hanging the display card on a rack, and printed information. The rear surface of at least the base portion includes a pressure-sensitive adhesive and a peel-away cover protecting said adhesive, whereby the base portion, when detached from the upper portion, may be mounted on a receiving surface along with the garland bow. The strips forming the garland may have a variety of colors, and are made of a material having an elastic memory, whereby the bow is crush-resistant.

Abstract: A method for the manufacture of a semifinished material prepares such material for the subsequent production of a flower-like or petal-like decoration. For this purpose an initially flat band ribbon or tape material, that is sufficiently flexible for the subsequent folding to form pleat-like folds, is provided in its lengthwise direction with at least one drawstring which itself is also sufficiently flexible. The drawstring is secured at spaced intervals to the flat material, so that the drawstring is free from the flat material outside the securing points or areas. In these free intervals or spacings the drawstring is not covered by the flat material such as a flexible ribbon. At least one longitudinal edge of the flat material is provided with a non-linear contour which subsequently helps forming a flower or petal-like appearance.

Abstract: A drapery fixture for use as a drapery swag holder or a drapery tie-back holder. The fixture includes a mounting bracket and rosette components for use with a piece of fabric for forming a fabric rosette. The rosette components include a shape retaining rosette body member having a front face and a central opening through the front face, and a plug member dimensioned for insertion into the central opening for retaining a fabric piece adjacent the center of the front face of the body member. A fabric receiving recess is provided at the rear side of the body member and a flexible strip can be pressed into the fabric receiving groove to retain the fabric at the rear side of the body member.

A longitudinally extending drawstring fixed at one end to an end of the longitudinally extending decorative flexible ribbon extends along the ribbon and is positioned in alignment with said neck at each longitudinally spaced position. A retainer encircles each neck and the drawstring at each longitudinally spaced position such that the drawstring runs freely through the retainers.

Abstract: An adornment ribbon bow is held or arrested at a bunch point of the looped or bowed ribbon by a three element, resilient tie that is both decorative and functional. The resilient tie is made from a length of non-resilient ribbon in which is tied a collapse resistant, pyramid shaped knot. The collapse resistance in the knot is translated into a resilience in the tie. The pyramid shape and internal structure of the knot generates a resistance to a collapsing force applied to the knot while the pyramid shape of the knot becomes a decorative part of the adornment ribbon bow.

Abstract: A vehicular supported pompon is provided including a flexible "U" shaped support capturing an elongate flexible line therewith, wherein the flexible line includes loop members formed at each end for securement of the pompon within grooves and the like of vehicular construction, such as that defined between a hood and fender. The construction further includes a flexible spine with orthogonally formed finger ribbons extending therefrom, wherein the spine is captured between opposed sides of the support with stitches to secure the support and spine together. A further embodiment of the invention includes air actuated whistles to produce audible sound effects during traverse of the automobile when securing the pompon thereon. A further embodiment includes a series of fiber optic cables captured between the "U" shaped support with terminal ends directed exteriorly of the "U" shaped support for providing enhanced visual attention to the organization.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for producing an ornament for gift wrapping purposes and the like. The ornament has a basic member with a plurality of radially disposed conical elements, and these basic members may be combined to produce spheroidal or hemispheroidal ornaments having a plurality of radial cones or spikes. In the method, a flat circular blank is formed with a plurality of radially disposed leaves. The leaves are wrapped around a conical form and adhesively secured to form one of the basic members. The apparatus includes a winder for wrapping the leaves around the conical form and positioning means for holding the blank and locating each leaf on the form to be wrapped into a conical element by the winder.

Abstract: An artificial-flower-forming ribbon comprises a pair of strips overlapping each other, and at least one string placed between and along both strips. Both strips are joined together at a plurality of joint portions placed at opposite sides of the string and also on a plurality of lines spaced apart from each other in the longitudinal direction of both strings. The string is joined at its one end to one ends of both strips. A pair of adjoining lines are parallel to two equilateral sides of an isosceles triangle where a segment parallel to a longitudinal center line of both strips is defined as the base. Both strips have a pair of notches provided at opposite sides of each line to be respectively open to opposite side edges of both strips, and substantially confronting each other in the transverse direction of both strips.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for producing an ornament for gift wrapping purposes and the like. The ornament has a basic member with a plurality of radially disposed conical elements, and these basic members may be combined to produce spheroidal or hemispheroidal ornaments having a plurality of radial cones or spikes. In the method, a flat circular blank is formed with a plurality of radially disposed leaves. The leaves are wrapped around a conical form and adhesively secured to form one of the basic members. The apparatus includes a winder for wrapping the leaves around the conical form and positioning means for holding the blank and locating each leaf on the form to be wrapped into a conical element by the winder.

Abstract: A reusable gift wrapping is comprised of a flexible expanse of folding fabric having releasable Velcro fasteners secured to its periphery. The Velcro fasteners are engagable when the farbic is folded to envelop a carton placed within the expanse of foldable fabric. A fabric bow and a fabric card holder may also be removably attached to the expanse of foldale fabric ny means of Velcro fasteners.

Abstract: An advertising or promotional item comprises a body (2) from one side of which extends a flag (3) carrying an advertising message, the body (2) having a foot (1) by which it may be adhered to a support. According to the invention the body (2) is a flattened mass of fibers (5), so that the item is small enough to be posted in an envelope in the mail. A face (4) may be adhered to the body (2) to keep the item flat.

Abstract: The invention relates to a collapsible decorative assembly and method for making the same, wherein a plurality of foldable elements are positioned adjacent one another such that they may be collapsed and opened in conjuction with one another. The elements have ornamental shaped portions and are folded so as to form inwardly folded regions which enable the elements to be positioned in an interconnected manner. Exterior surfaces formed in the elements by the folding are secured to one another in a predetermined manner to provide collapsible assembly which is opened for use as a decorative bow or the like.

Abstract: A Christmas tree ornament formed of a rectangularly shaped battery box and an ornamentally shaped ornament. The battery box and ornament are interconnected by a flexible cable of two electrical conductors. Visual ornamentation disguises the battery box as a Christmas wrapped give box. The ornament includes a D.C. motor for driving at least one moveable part for performing a decorative visual effect.

Abstract: A decorative ornament and the method of making the decorative ornament are disclosed. The ornament is made by twisting and coiling a loop of sheet material. Next, the coiled loop of sheet material is stapled at its center to a backing sheet. The ends of the loops are cut and trimmed, forming a number of radially extending leaves in a hemispherical shape.

Abstract: In the apparatus of the present invention, a twist-tie is shown formed of a layered flexible material. A wire is affixed along the length of this layer of plastic material and adhesively engaged thereto. The surface of adhesive and the wire is over fixed with a peelable layer of material which covers the adhesive and the wire or the first layer. The entire assembly is cut to a desired length and, in the preferred embodiment, a decorative ribbon may be secured thereto as by a staple, adhesive, string, or any other means, the decorative ribbon is then capable of being secured to a package of a size such that the peelable layer can be removed and the adhesive can be employed directed to affix the ribbon to the package. Alternatively, the peelable layer may remain and the ribbon affixed to a smaller package by utilizing the invention in the manner of a standard twist-tie. The size of the package with which the twist-tie alone can be employed is a function of the length of the twist-tie used.
