The strip (6) has a locking element (8), which engages a looking groove (14) in the underside of the adjoining floorboard (1?) and forms a horizontal joint. A tongue (38) and a tongue groove (36) form a vertical joint between upper and lower plane-parallel contact surfaces (43, 45) and are designed in such manner that the lower contact surfaces (45) are on a level between the upper side of the locking element (8) and a plane containing the underside (3) of the floorboard. The invention also relates to a floorboard having such a locking system, a floor made of such floorboards, as well as a method for making such a locking system.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2004Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Assignee: Valinge Innovation ABInventor: Darko Pervan

Patent number: 7762036Abstract: Natural wood sandwiched engineered flooring utilizes all natural wood as the raw material which is made into several components which are combined to make this product. The components are a single or multilayer top veneer bottom or base layer and a middle layer. The four sides of the natural wood sandwiched engineered flooring strip consist of either a tongue and a groove or an interlocking system. The middle layer consists of two parallel solid wood strips, and located perpendicular to and between the parallel solid wood strips are small pieces of soft wood, which are glued together. The small soft wood pieces can be of fast growing soft wood, and as such saves treasured hardwood lumber. The production cost of the raw material is much lower than other types of engineered flooring. Further, an enhanced stabilization of the hardwood flooring is provided which is more suitable for radiant heat.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2006Date of Patent: July 27, 2010Assignee: Sunshine Wood Industry (Tianjin) Co., Ltd.Inventors: Michael Li, Yufan Zang

Patent number: 7762035Abstract: Floor panel in a board shape having at least at two opposite edges coupling parts enabling several of the panels to be coupled to each other, wherein the coupling parts have contact portions forcing the floor panels in the coupled condition with a tension force at least laterally towards each other. The coupling parts also include support portions, which, in the coupled condition of floor panels, create a fixation in the mutual position of the contact portions cooperating under tension.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2005Date of Patent: July 27, 2010Assignee: Flooring Industries Limited, SARLInventor: Mark Cappelle
