Of Diverse Feed Or Feed Rate In Starting, E.g., Enriching Fuel Mixture In Starting, Etc. Patents (Class 431/62)
  • Patent number: 4174941
Abstract: A sleeve and damper to increase the efficiency of oil burner performance designed to substantially enclose the flame. The sleeve is heated by the flame to a temperature sufficiently high to assure automatic ignition of unburned hydrocarbons that may result from incomplete combustion of the fuel oil. By controlling the damper operation in conjunction with an adjustable induction air apparatus, unburned hydrocarbons which would ordinarily result are completely oxidized. The resulting completeness of combustion permits the use of oil as a fuel to heat ovens without imparting any odor or taste to the food products being processed therewithin.

  • Patent number: 4116614
Abstract: An oil heater particularly adapted to burning waste oil, having oil flow control apparatus providing substantially constant flow of oil to the vaporizer pan without regard to the viscosity of the oil being burned. The flow control apparatus utilizes a piston pump having relatively large input and output orifices, and is driven by a thermostatically controlled constant speed, reversible direction electric motor. Means are provided to transmit the power from the motor to the piston pump such that rotation of the motor in one direction provides a long pump stroke and high volume rate, whereas rotation of the motor in the opposite direction provides a short piston stroke and low volume rate of pumping to provide minimal oil flow to the vaporizer pan to allow combustion to be maintained in the heater.

  • Patent number: 4060370
Abstract: A manifold gas valve for controlling gas flow to a burner has a diaphragm operated main valve, an electrically operated control valve, and means to delay the application of gas pressure to the main valve operating diaphragm to effect a delayed opening of the main valve. Opening of the control valve permits an immediate flow of gas to the main burner and simultaneously admits the application of gas pressure to effect a delayed opening of the main valve. The immediate flow of gas to the burner, which occurs upon opening of the control valve, is sufficient to effect reliable and timely ignition and support combustion.

  • Patent number: 4059386
Abstract: A gas pilot burner arrangement in which only air from the blower discharge plenum connected to the main gas burner is initially supplied to the pilot burner to mix with gas being supplied to the pilot burner through the pilot gas conduit and when a flame sensor is activated to prove that the pilot is lit a valve is electrically activated to flow gas to the main burner and simultaneously provide a premix of raw gas and air to the pilot burner in addition to the gas admitted to the pilot through the pilot gas conduit.

  • Patent number: 3986814
Abstract: A device for controlling a gaseous or liquid fuel fired appliance as a function of a parameter includes a fuel supply controlled by a valve operated in dependence on a signal furnished by means sensitive to the parameter. The device includes a first circuit triggerable by the parameter-sensitive means when the parameter exceeds a first value and a second circuit triggerable by the parameter-sensitive means when the parameter falls below a second value lower than the first value. These circuits operate the valve appropriately for a given period of time. The device includes a spark generator for ignition of the fuel and an inhibitor to stop spark generation on fuel ignition. The device also includes first and second dc sources for independent supply of the first and second circuits, which require negligible current when not operative.

  • Patent number: 3967590
Abstract: A package heat exchange system having a burner positioned in the central plenum of a first heat exchanger and supplied with a fuel-air mixture through a blower supplied with fuel through a pressure regulator which requires a negative pressure at the blower input to draw gaseous fuel through the pressure regulator. Thermal energy is transferred from the first heat exchanger to a second heat exchanger or from the second heat exchanger to a third heat exchanger by pumped fluids and transferred to or from the second heat exchanger and air blown through the second heat exchanger to heat or cool the air with blowing of the air, operation of the burner and heating of the first heat exchanger when the burner is not operating being used to maintain the temperature of the surface of the first heat exchanger which contacts the products of combustion of the burner above the dew point of the products of combustion.
