  • Patent number: 7578699
Abstract: A computer enclosure includes a chassis (10) and a connector (30). The chassis includes a bottom panel (11) and a side panel (13) perpendicular to the bottom panel. The side panel defines an opening (131). A positioning flange (15) protrudes from the side panel parallel to the bottom panel. Two resilient hooks (17) extend from the side panel at opposite sides of the opening. The connector is mounted in the opening. The connector includes a first face (32), a second face (34) parallel to the first face and a top wall (36) perpendicular to the first and second faces. Two ends of the first face are engaged with the corresponding resilient hooks. The second face abuts against the side panel. The positioning flange abuts against the top wall of the connector, thereby the connector is sandwiched between the positioning flange and the bottom panel.

Abstract: An electrical connector is constructed for ease of fixing a sheet metal solder plate (25) to the bottom surface portion (70) of the connector insulator frame (12), so the solder plate can be soldered to one or more traces on a circuit board to hold down the frame. The frame has downwardly extending pegs (33-35) and the solder plate has corresponding peg-receiving holes (28-30). The mount plate forms at least one tongue (48, 49) at each of its holes, each tongue projecting against one of the pegs to form an interference fit against the peg that prevents removable of the solder plate from the insulator pegs. Each peg has a vertical slot (38, 39) that receives a nose (50, 51) at the end of the tongue.

Abstract: A lever-type connector (A) has male housing (10) with a receptacle (13) and a female housing (20) that is insertable into the receptacle (13). The lever (30) has inclined guides (36) that contact an edge of the mount hole (H) and guide the connector (A) smoothly to a proper position with respect to the mount hole (H). A rear surface (20R) of a female housing (20) is before the guide (36) when the female housing (20) is fit into the receptacle (13) and with a lever (30) at a standby position. Abstract: A housing (20) is mountable to a mount hole (H) in a panel (P) and then is connectable with a mating housing (10). The housing (20) has a detector (50) that is movable between a standby position and a mount detecting position. Movement of the detector (50) to the mount detecting position is prevented by interference with the inner surface of the mount hole (H) while the housing (20) is being mounted on the panel (P). However the detector (50) can move to the mount detecting position when the housing (20) is mounted properly. Movement of the detector (50) from the mount detecting position to the standby position is prevented by interference with a rib (18) of the mating housing (10) while the housings (10, 20) are being connected. However, the detector (50) can move to the standby position when the housings (10, 20) are connected properly.

Abstract: The invention provides a panel connector, permitted limited movement in an aperture while simultaneously preventing this connector from falling out. A female connector 20 is supported in a waiting state within a panel 10 by flanges 25 which make contact with edges of an attachment hole 11; contacting plates 52 of upper and lower pairs of resilient contacts 50, and for engagement with retaining members 12; and contacting plates 56 which engage supplementary retaining members 13. If an axis of a corresponding male connector 30 is misaligned relative to an axis of the female connector 20, some of the resilient contacts 50 bend, this causing the female connector 20 to move to align the axes of the two connectors 20 and 30. As the female connector 20 moves, the degree of engagement between some of the resilient contacts 50 is reduced.

Abstract: A connector (A) has first and second housings (10, 20). A lever (30) on the first housing (10) is pivotal from a standby position to a connection position for connecting the housings (10, 20). Fixed interfering ribs (16) are formed on the outer surface of a first housing (10), and movable interfering portions (35) are formed on the lever (30). Both interfering portions (16, 35) can be located in an opening area of a mount hole (H) of a panel (P) when the lever (30) is at the connection position. Thus, connector (A) can be fit into the mount hole (H). Either the movable interfering portions (35) or the fixed interfering ribs (16) bulge out of the opening area of the mount hole (H) when the lever (30) is at the standby position to interfere with an edge of the mount hole (H). Thus, the connector (A) cannot be mounted on the panel (P).
