The TPA member includes a blocking section adapted to substantially prevent deflection of the deflectable latch and at least one polarization section. The polarization section comprises a first polarizer and a second polarizer. The first polarizer is adapted to allow proper mounting of the TPA member relative to the housing member in only one position. The second polarizer is adapted to allow proper mounting of a mating electrical connector relative to the electrical connector in only one position.

Abstract: The present invention is related to an adapter or connector receptacle intended to mate with a plug. The receptacle includes a housing forming a passage for accepting a plug body therein during an insertion of the plug into the passage. An interference projection is mounted in and extends into the passage, the projection having a front side facing approximately perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the plug. When during insertion of the plug into the passage, if one of the plug electrical contacts is misaligned such that its distal end is too low, the electrical contact will impact the front side of the interference projection and be deflected upward or prevent the plug from being inserted into the receptacle to avoid damaging the receptacle contacts.

Abstract: A keyed power source connector (32) and keyed device connector (14) that are backwards compatible, ensuring that the power rated device connectors can only mate with power source connectors power rated at or above the device connector power rating. One connector is formed as a plug, and the other connector is formed as a socket. The connectors have peripheral contoured body portions (16, 34) having a profile being a function of the respective connector power rating. A keyed portion (41, 62, 72, 82) of the power source connector plug will physically interfere with and not be receivable within a device connector socket when the device connector power rating exceeds the power source connector power rating.
