  • Patent number: 7381064
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a flexible flat cable of a vehicular clockspring whose conductors are directly attached to the contacts of a mounting header. The flat cable comprises a series of conductors “printed” in-between a pair of insulating layers. The conductors are directly connected to the contacts of a mounting header, which partially form the connection module of a clockspring. Other devices or cables within the vehicle can than quickly mate to the clockspring connection module, via a corresponding connector. This method of termination is in contrast to prior art clockspring cables which typically weld their cable conductors to rigid printed circuit boards or overmolded metallic insert grids.

Abstract: A sensor interconnect assembly has a circuit substrate. An emitter portion of the substrate is adapted to mount emitters. A detector portion of the substrate is adapted to mount a detector. A cable portion of the substrate is adapted to connect a sensor cable. A first group of conductors are disposed on the substrate electrically interconnecting the emitter portion and the cable portion. A second group of conductors are disposed on the substrate electrically interconnecting the detector portion and the cable portion. A decoupling portion of the substrate disposed proximate the cable portion substantially mechanically isolating the cable portion from both the emitter portion and the detector portion so that sensor cable stiffness is not translated to the emitters or the detector.

  • Patent number: 7364440
Abstract: An electrical connector for providing a watertight electrical connection between a flat, single or multi-traced, rigid and/or flexible printed circuit and a separate electronics unit. The electrical connector is comprised of a plug having one or more keyhole-shaped slots which serve to mechanically secure the connection between the one or more traces of the circuit and one or more fixed pins on the body of the separate electronics unit. The plug is placed over the one or more pins such that the pins are inserted up through the wider portion of the slots and in a push or pull action, the pins are slid into the narrower portion of the slot such that the pins are locked into place. The conductive traces are then secured into contact with the electrical contacts of the separate electronics device.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed to flexible boards, electrooptic devices having flexible boards, and electronic devices. In one example, wires are disposed longitudinally along the length of a flexible board. Terminals are arranged laterally across the width of the flexible board near an end of the flexible board, the terminals being electrically connected to the wires. Plating lead wires are electrically connected to the terminals and extend longitudinally from the terminals to a lateral edge of the flexible board. The width of the plating lead wires is less than the width of the wires. In certain embodiments, at least a portion of the terminals are alternatingly displaced on the flexible board in a staggered manner. This abstract is intended only to aid those searching patents, and is not intended to be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims in any manner.
