  • Patent number: 6663430
Abstract: A connector for achieving stabilization of operation of electronic equipment against EMI/ESD by reinforcing grounding of an entire connector is provided for. An interface connector has protruding portions formed on a top face and bottom face of a metal shell, wherein the height of these protruding portions is in a predetermined relationship to one another, such that the connector and connector connection structure provide: a reduction in the contact resistance in fitting portions of connectors, and hence an improvement in conductivity.

Abstract: A stacked dual socket system that is interchangeable with and has no larger footprint than a single USB compliant socket and which allows connector access to both USB channels. The stacked socket includes a first USB compliant socket and a second USB compliant socket. The second USB compliant socket is stacked on top of the first socket relative to the mother board so that the stacked has the same footprint on the mother board as a single USB compliant socket. Each socket has a linear array of four conductor pins that project downwardly from the bottom of the first socket within the footprint of the socket and makes contact with two separate arrays of electrical conductors in the mother board. The bottom of the first socket has four spaced apart legs that form the mechanical interface between the stacked socket and the mother board and which provide improved mechanical stability. An electrically conductive cowling encases all sides of both sockets except for the bottom and the front.

  • Patent number: 6558172
Abstract: A shielding wire is bent in a bent shape and also is fixed in the bent shape by a housing. In the bent portion of the shielding wire, a core wire and a shielding layer are exposed by removing an outer coating and an inner insulating layer and also an insulating member, which may be heat-shrinkable, is interposed between the core wire and the shielding layer. When the insulating member is a heat-shrinkable member, an allowable bending radius of the shielding wire becomes smaller if the core wire is covered with the insulating member and bent before shrinkage, compared with the case of the core wire being bent together with the outer coating and the inner insulating layer. This results in miniaturization of the bent portion.

  • Patent number: 6508653
Abstract: A bulkhead plate member for providing an attenuating barrier for electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise in a computer system housing. The bulkhead plate member includes a rectangular shaped main portion having a material thickness. The main portion has a plurality of edge walls defining an opening for receiving a peripheral component connector affixed to a printed circuit board (PCB). The edge walls are adapted to contact side walls of the peripheral component connector to provide contact regions substantially perpendicular to the main portion and greater than the material thickness of the main portion, such that EMI noise is conducted through the bulkhead plate member, at the edge walls of the opening, to a bulkhead wall of the computer system housing thereby suppressing the EMI noise. The edge walls of the opening provides increased surface area contact between the bulkhead plate member and the peripheral component connector to maximize the attenuation of EMI noise around the connector.
