  • Patent number: 8944891
Abstract: In a machine for centerless cylindrical grinding, the workpiece is located in a grinding gap, which is formed by the regulating wheel, the grinding wheel and the support blade. The regulating wheel rotates about its axis of rotation with the direction of rotation, and thereby drives the workpiece to rotate in the direction of rotation. The grinding wheel is driven to rotate about its axis of rotation with the direction of rotation. The workpiece passes in the direction of its longitudinal axis through a number of sets of regulating wheels and grinding wheels, which are each themselves arranged coaxially one behind the other. The regulating wheels and grinding wheels have axial interspaces on their axes; the regulating wheels thereby engage in the interspaces between the grinding wheels, and vice versa, so as to form lateral regions of overlap between the wheels.

  • Patent number: 5718030
Abstract: A dry abrasive delabeling apparatus for both plastic and glass bottles, sometimes called a label stripper, in which the bottles are fed by an in-feed starwheel to a circular starwheel which rotates the bottles slowly. Within the starwheel are wire bristle brushes rotating at a high speed against the bottles to flick off paper, foil, or plastic from the label on the bottle while restraining the bottle in close contact to the ends of the wire bristle by means of a rubber bladder to press against the bottles. The bottles are held against the wire bristles while the bottles are rotated as they are held against the bladder. The debris is vacuumed away from the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5667432
Abstract: The part (1) to be machined, which exhibits an axis of revolution (aa') is secured in a rotatable spindle (11) forming part of a headstock (10) movable in translation on the framework of the grinding machine according to a longitudinal axis (X) parallel to the axis of revolution (aa'). A support (16) fixed to the framework and in the immediate proximity of which is arranged a grindstone (18), serves as lateral support to a portion of the part (1) to be machined. Grinding of the part (1) by the grindstone (18) over an arbitrary length capable of exceeding 1000 times its diameter, is effected by displacing the headstock (10) by such length in the sense of the longitudinal axis (X).

  • Patent number: 5613899
Abstract: The novel ferrule grinding machine of the present invention has a wire support assembly having a wire that stretches the length of the wire support on which ferrules are strung. The wire rests in a novel guide that aids in producing ferrules within tolerances. The machine also has a grinding wheel and regulating wheel whose speed and composition may be changed to determine the surface finish and concentricity of a ferrule. The regulating wheel infeed assembly controls the size of the ferrules via a computer and a step motor that control the position of the regulating wheel as it tilts on a pivot base to attain the correct size of ferrule. The wire support assembly is placed on a variable speed work traverse that carries the work between the grinding wheel and regulating wheel, while the ferrules are supported on a rest blade such that the ferrules are worked slightly above their center.

  • Patent number: 5567195
Abstract: A method and apparatus for initially taking an individual bar from a supply of bars and placing it on an entry conveyor while preventing movement of the remaining bars. Other mechanisms are provided for adjusting the entry conveyor to accommodate the diameter of the bars to be ground. The individual bars to be ground are initially moved into position between a regulating wheel and a grinding wheel. The regulating wheel maintains the bar against the grinding wheel and the movement of the regulating wheel toward the grinding wheel during the grinding action is sensed by an encoder device. The encoder device in turn signals to a servomotor to move the grinding wheel an amount equal to but in the opposite direction to the regulating wheel to compensate for the wearing of the grinding wheel. The regulating wheel is set at a slight angle relative to the bar to impose a vector force that moves the bar through the grinding station to the exit conveyor from where the bar is subsequently moved to a holding area.
