Abstract: A retreaded tire manufacturing method, which avoids forming the buffed surface always in the same position by buffing in tire retreading and the resulting drop in delamination resistance of new tread rubber, and tires suitably retreaded by this manufacturing method are provided. In this method, the tread rubber of a tire is abraded away circumferentially to form a tread application surface of the tire to which new tread rubber is applied. And the position where the tread application surface is formed is radially changed as the repeat count of retreading rises.
Abstract: Among other things, one or more techniques and/or systems are provided for driving a body of a polishing head using an alignment gear. That is, an alignment gear, coupled to a housing of the polishing head, can transfer rotational force from the housing to the body responsive to the alignment gear being mated with a channel associated with the body. For example, the housing can supply pressure to the body, resulting in the body and the housing moving towards one another into a mated state. When the body and the housing are in the mated state, the alignment gear can mate with the channel (e.g., the alignment gear can fit within the channel). In this way, the alignment gear can drive the body by transferring rotational force to the body, resulting in the body rotating a semiconductor wafer against a polishing pad to polish the semiconductor wafer, for example.

Abstract: Devices and methods by which an amount of an abradable material may be removed from the housing of a gas turbine engine. A device of the invention is generally comprised of an abradable material removal tool having a curved abradable material contacting base with a handle or other gripping portion extending therefrom. An abrasive material, such as a sheet of sand paper, may be associated with a contacting surface of the base. The base is dimensioned and provided with a shape that permits its insertion between adjacent leading and trailing fan blades of an engine fan. A manual back-and-forth rotation of the fan while the abradable material removal tool is positioned between the fan blades and depressed against the surface of the abradable material will result in a controlled removal of abradable material along a path traced by the tips of the fan blades.

Abstract: A brake lining arrangement for a disk brake, and a method for producing such a brake lining arrangement, comprises a brake lining carrier and a friction pad mounted thereon, a friction surface of which can be attached to a disk brake for generating a friction effect. Abstract: A machining method comprises selecting a finished surface dimension and a material property for a working surface, defining a working temperature range based on the selected material property, and defining a machining power based on the working temperature range. The machining power depends on a removal rate and a specific heat of the working surface. The working surface is machined at the removal rate to achieve the finished surface dimension, and the machine power is controlled to maintain the working surface within the working temperature range. The working surface is heated or cooled from the working temperature range to a transition temperature range, such that the selected material property is preserved in the working surface.

The polyurethane foam includes an isocyanate component and an active hydrogen-containing compound as starting material components, and the active hydrogen-containing compound includes 30 to 85% by weight of a high-molecular-weight polyol having 2 to 4 functional groups and a hydroxyl value of 20 to 100 mg KOH/g.
Abstract: A method for creating a concave section of glass from a glass substrate having flat surfaces includes the use of a grinding wheel and a turntable. The method includes the steps of securing the glass substrates to the turntable. The turntable is then spun to create a turntable axis of rotation. The grinding wheel is rotated about a wheel axis of rotation such that the wheel axis of rotation is perpendicular to the turntable axis of rotation. The grinding wheel and the turntable move relative to each other along the turntable axis of rotation. The glass substrate is ground by the grinding wheel contacting the glass substrate to create the concave section of glass while the glass substrate is rotating about the wheel axis of rotation and moving relative to the turntable.

Abstract: Methods for fabricating a honeycomb extrusion die from a die body include the step of machining extrusion slots with at least one grinding wheel to provide a honeycomb pattern of extrusion slots. Abstract: The present invention is a container and a processing for passivating the internal surface of the container to store monochlorosilane in a stable manner without degradation of the monochlorosilane. Abstract: The invention concerns a grinding machine having displaceable grinding means for the processing of workpieces made from wood, wood composite materials, plastics, metals and similar materials. The invention further concerns a method of grinding a workpiece by means of the inventive grinding machine. The grinding aggregate comprises: at least one translational driving means configured to translate the grinding means (6) and at least one eccentric tappet configured to rotatingly move the grinding means (6). The inventive device is characterized in that the grinding aggregate comprises a suctioning device which suctions waste products of the processing, such as chips, through the grinding means. In this way, it is possible to achieve a qualitatively superior grinding result.

Abstract: A sanding system suitable for drywall sanding has a foam sanding block that fits into a hollow housing such that a gap is left around most of the perimeter of the sanding block and the housing near the plane of sanding. Some regions of the perimeter are dimensioned relative to the sanding block such as to not leave a gap but instead are such as to provide a friction fit between housing and sanding block.
Abstract: A reflective surface has a digital code comprising specular reflective and diffuse reflective areas. The digital code can be a one or two dimensional code such as a bar code or a QR code. The digital code is created by beginning with a polished surface texture having a highly specular reflective quality and modifying the surface texture to create areas of more diffuse reflectivity. The areas of specular and diffuse reflectivity can be read as a digital code by code reading equipment while having a substantially uniform color thereby enhancing the application of digital codes to ornamental objects such as metallic jewelry.

Abstract: A tool is provided for dressing the worn or damaged tip of a welding electrode tip. Electrode tips are typically nominally frusto-conical, and have a pre-determined design taper. The dressing tool has a body. The body has a bore formed to receive the frusto-conical electrode tip. When so received, the body is rotated about the tip. The bore has a dressing member for engagement with the frusto-conical member, the two parts having corresponding design tapers. The body has a torque input interface by which, in use, the tool may be turned by an input torque to cause said tool to turn about the electrode tip, and in so doing to cause said dressing member to hone the tip. The dressing member includes a region of abrasive grit. Different grades of grit may be used. The tool may have an opposed socket suitable for seating on the opposed electrode tip, thereby centering the device automatically and correctly. The tool may be in either male or female form. The handle used to turn the tool may carry information.
Abstract: A tool, method and apparatus to refurbish a valve seat having a compound geometry, such as a valve seat in a valve body for a common rail injector is disclosed. The tool includes a body with a head portion having substantially the same geometry as the valve seat to be refurbished, the tool further including a radiused portion between two angles of the valve seat to provide a chamfered surface on the valve seat to be refurbished. The method includes lapping the valve seat with the tool in and X, Y and Z axis to refurbish the valve seat in a single operation without substantially altering the geometry of the valve, and the apparatus includes slide moveable in an X and Y axis, and a fixture mounted on a preloaded biased base so movement in the Z axis is controllable.
Abstract: A polishing pad capable of improving an affinity to polishing liquid and stabilizing polishing performance is provided. A polishing pad 10 is equipped with a urethane sheet 2. The urethane sheet 2 has a polishing surface P for polishing an object to be polished. The urethane sheet 2 is formed by a dry molding method and is formed by slicing a polyurethane foamed body which is obtained by reacting and curing mixed liquid in which an isocyanate-group containing compound, water, a foam control agent and a polyamine compound are mixed. Foams 3 are dispersed approximately uniformly inside the urethane sheet 2. Opened pores 4 which are opened parts of the foams 3 are formed at the polishing surface P. Inside the urethane sheet 2, the foams 3 formed adjacently to each other are communicated by communication holes 9, and the communication holes 9 are formed at a ratio of 800 holes/cm2 or more when observed from a side of the polishing surface P. Polishing liquid moves via the communication holes 9 and the foams 3.
Abstract: Abrasive articles including a body having a first abrasive layer, a second abrasive layer and one or more reinforcing layers for use with cordless tools have a reduced thickness with respect to conventional counterparts. Techniques for producing and using such abrasive articles are described. In one embodiment, the first abrasive layer and the second abrasive layer comprise abrasive particles in a bond material. In an embodiment, a reinforcing layer is disposed between the first abrasive layer and the second abrasive layer. Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are provided for reducing edge damage of a disk during chemical mechanical polishing. The apparatus includes a disk carrier configured to receive a disk, the disk having an outside edge and an inside edge, a raised ring adjacent the outside edge of the disk and extending from a surface of the disk carrier to a height greater than a height of the disk, and a raised column adjacent the inside edge of the disk and having a height greater than a height of the disk. Abstract: A medical hollow needle structured in accordance with the present invention, wherein the puncture resistance of a blade surface over the entire length in the puncture direction can be made substantially equal, and the patient's pain during needle puncture can be relieved due to a reduction in the peak level of puncture pain with the duration of sensory awareness of the puncture pain shortened by the use of the blade surface in a novel shape employing, in combination with each other, first to fourth inclined surfaces having specific inclination directions. Abstract: A material working process using a plated superabrasive grinding wheel having a superabrasive plating applied to a circumferential surface of a cylindrically shaped core. The plating is applied to at least a lower portion of a circumferential surface of the core continuing around a lower edge of the core and along a circumferential edge of a bottom surface of the core. The superabrasive grinding wheel is utilized by a Swiss style screw machine for abrading a raw bar stock. The grinding wheel is rotated abrading the raw bar stock as the stock is advanced along a longitudinal axis. The bar stock can be rotationally stationary to form a planar surface or rotating to form an arched surface. A machining lubricant is applied to the working interface for lubrication and cooling. The stationary work piece can be indexed to form repeated planar surfaces having various angles therebetween.

Abstract: An ELID honing device includes a honing tool 10 positioned above a workpiece 1 having a hollow cylindrical inner surface, and vertically movable and rotationally drivable about a vertical rotation axis while being rockably suspended from an upper end, and a honing guide 20 positioned in proximity to an upper portion of the workpiece to guide the honing tool to the hollow cylindrical inner surface. The honing tool 10 has a fixed guide 12 having a predetermined radius R from the rotation axis to its outer peripheral surface, and honing stones 14a and 14b having outer peripheral surfaces movable in parallel from a diameter-increased position outside the radius R to a diameter-reduced position inside the radius R and capable of being electrolytically dressed. Further, the honing guide 20 has a hollow cylindrical ELID electrode 22 having an inner surface 22a for guiding an outer peripheral surface of the fixed guide of the honing tool and capable of being subjected to a negative voltage.
Abstract: A method system and apparatus for cutting turbine bucket covers on a turbine rotor includes marking a cut path on a surface of the turbine bucket cover. The cut path includes a plurality of finite lines defined by a pair of end points, then directing a laser at each end point of each line of the cut path, storing a set of position coordinates of each end point for every line of the cut path; generating the cut path based on the respective end points; and following the cut path on the turbine bucket cover with a grinding machine attached to a robotic device; and cutting the turbine bucket cover according to the cut path.
Abstract: An abrasive product comprises an abrasive component and a bond component. In one embodiment, the bond component includes a binder and a filler component that includes a cryolite and at least one member selected from the group consisting of sodium oxalate (Na2C2O4), sodium borate (Na2B4O7.10H2O), sodium polyphosphate, opal glass, a hexafluoroferrate, and a hexafluorozirconate. Abstract: The present invention protects opals during processing from rhyolite nodules. An opal containing rhyolite nodule is soaked in a heated polyester resin, styrene (100-42-5) solution for 24 hours per 10 grams of nodule. The rhyolite nodule is dried and sawed into slabs, which are soaked in a heated polyester resin, styrene (100-42-5) solution. The soaked slabs are cut into pieces, cabochons are marked out, and the pieces are rough cut into pre forms. The pre forms are soaked in a heated polyester resin, styrene (100-42-5) solution, beneficially for 24 hours. The pre forms are dried and cut into cabochons, which are soaked (preferably for 24 hours) in a heated polyester resin, styrene (100-42-5) solution. The soaked cabochons are then dried, polished, and air cured.
