A mobile device application may send a request to an application server, including a dynamic beacon identifier. The method includes receiving a region indicator from the wireless wide area communications network in response to the initiating. The method includes selectively communicating by the mobile communications device with a second communications network according to a rules profile associated with the region indicator. The region indicator may be a country code or network code. The rules profile may be one of a plurality of rules profiles identified based on the region indicator. Individual rules profiles of the plurality of rules profiles specify at least one of time of day constraints, access point identifier constraints, and performance threshold constraints.

Abstract: Apps may be tagged with location data when they are used. Mobile device may anonymously submit app usage data. Aggregated app usage data from many mobile devices may be analyzed to determine apps that are particularly relevant to a given location (i.e., exhibiting a high degree of localization). Analysis may include determining the app usage intensity, whether hotspots exist or not at a given location, the spatial entropy of a particular app, the device populations in a particular area, etc. Based on the localized app analysis, apps may be ranked according to local relevance, and, based on this ranking, app recommendations may be provided to a user.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for providing an internet service by a server in a communication system. A user interface for selecting whether to provide a search service based on location information of a subscriber station, is provided to the subscriber station. If the subscriber station selects to be provided the search service based on the location information, the location information of the subscriber station is acquired using a location information server or a cell identifier (ID) according to an existence of the location information server in the communication system. Data is sought based on the location information. The data is provided to the subscriber station.

Abstract: For location-based communication with mobile devices, an instruction for making a telecommunication call to a location is received at a device associated with a caller. the location is a place where different callees with different mobile devices are present at different times, and a callee is present with a mobile device at the place at a specified time therefore the call is made to the mobile device of the callee in order to call the location. A set of potential callees is identified such that each mobile device associated with each callee in set of callees is present at the location at the given time. From the device associated with the caller, the telecommunication call is initiated to mobile devices associated with a subset of potential callees, including the callee.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating geo-aware auto-suggestions for searching are provided. Characters corresponding to user input for a search query to a searching service may be processed prior to completion of the search query. Information about a geographical location may be processed. A geographical area of interest and potential correction(s) may be identified. Geo-specific suggestions may be determined based on the search query and/or a selected correction. The geo-specific suggestions may correspond to one or more identified businesses located in the geographical area of interest. The determining the geo-specific suggestions may include identifying business listing information corresponding to the geographical area of interest and the search query and/or a selected correction. The geo-specific suggestions may be indicated as a user-selectable option to complete the search query in a search query field for a search engine and/or to submit to the search engine as a selected search query.

Abstract: A system for providing location-based services to a mobile device regularly determines the location of the mobile device. Using the location of the device, the system queries a database of virtual geographic regions to determine if the location of the mobile device falls within one or more of the virtual geographic regions. The virtual geographic regions correspond to service entities that have purchased, rented, leased, or otherwise acquired the virtual geographic regions. The virtual geographic regions cover a certain area of a map. If the mobile device is within a virtual geographic region, the system notifies the mobile device. A location-based services application installed on the mobile device launches an applet for the entity that acquired the virtual geographic region within which the mobile device is located.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus of reference notification comprises obtaining an instant message that is sent from a sending user. A contact is selected that satisfies a predetermined criterion from contacts of the sending user. For the selected contact, content is determined that is of interest to the selected contact, and content is found that is of interest and is included in the obtained instant message based on the determined content of interest. Based on the found content of interest, a reference notification message is sent to a contact corresponding to the found content of interest, for notifying the contact that the content of interest is referenced. By using the technical scheme of the present disclosure, the problems of existing technologies that a user cannot accurately and quickly determine whether an instant message references content with which he/she is concerned are solved.

Abstract: A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes detecting user plane congestion at an eNodeB in connection with subscribers of a first one of a plurality of public land management networks (“PLMNs”) sharing a radio access network (“RAN”), identifying one or more of the PLMNs to be notified of the detected congestion in accordance with an agreement between the PLMNs, and reporting RAN congestion information (“RCI”) regarding the detected congestion to only the identified one or more of the PLMNs. The detecting may comprise determining whether detected user plane congestion exceeds a first congestion threshold indicated for the first one of the PLMNs. The method may further comprise terminating the RCI reporting when the detected congestion falls below a second congestion threshold specified for the first one of the PLMNs. The first and second thresholds may be indicated in a table associated with the eNodeB.

In some embodiments, a personal assistant on a first user device may respond automatically to a received input communication from a second user device. In some embodiments, the personal assistant may perform a local search of data stored on the first user device in order to retrieve data responsive to the received input. In some embodiments, the personal assistant may perform a local load of an entry into an application on the first user device in order to perform an action responsive to the received user input. In some embodiments, the automatic response may include sending a responsive output communication to the second user device. Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media are provided for using social signals to rank local search results. Local entity website addresses are matched with social network addresses and social network profiles are matched with local entity index records. Once it is known that a particular address or local entity index record aligns with a particular social network address or profile, interest signals associated with the social network are utilized to rank the particular address or local entity index record among other search results. In this way, the social network popularity of an entity may be taken into account in determining whether to provide information about the entity as a search result. Additionally, ranking may be improved for entities having incomplete or erroneous information available in association with a social network and for entities having a strong social network presence but a limited web presence.
