Patent number: 9794727Abstract: A mobile communication device. The device comprises a cellular radio transceiver, a processor, a memory, and a custom application launcher stored in the memory. When executed by the processor, the custom application launcher periodically sends a message to an application server, wherein the message informs the application server that the custom application launcher is installed on the mobile communication device and, responsive to initiation of a process of removing the custom application launcher, sends a removal message to the application server, wherein the removal message informs the application server that the custom application launcher is being removed from the mobile communication device.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2016Date of Patent: October 17, 2017Assignee: Sprint Communications Company L.P.Inventors: Jason R. Patent number: 9788177Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus and method of performing automated administrative operations on a mobile device. One example method may include determining via a hosted server that an action needs to be performed by a mobile device under management. The method may further include generating a message via the hosted server, the message includes the action, and transmitting the message to the mobile device under management, and receiving a result message from the mobile device under management responsive to the transmitted message, the result message indicating that the action has been satisfied.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2017Date of Patent: October 10, 2017Assignee: KASEYA LIMITEDInventor: Allan A. Patent number: 9788209Abstract: Apparatus and methods for controlling the distribution of electronic access clients to a device. In one embodiment, a virtualized Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC) can only load an access client such as an electronic Subscriber Identity Module (eSIM) according to an activation ticket. The activation ticket ensures that the virtualized UICC can only receive eSIMs from specific carriers (“carrier locking”). Unlike prior art methods which enforce carrier locking on a software application launched from a software chain of trust (which can be compromised), the present invention advantageously enforces carrier locking with the secure UICC hardware which has, for example, a secure code base.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2016Date of Patent: October 10, 2017Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Jerrold Von Hauck, David T. Patent number: 9781761Abstract: A method and apparatus for multiple radio access technology (multi-RAT) access mode operation for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) are disclosed. A WTRU and a network may enable a multi-RAT access mode of operation based on at least one of WTRU subscription, a service agreement of the WTRU, a roaming status of the WTRU, a selected access point name (APN), an Internet protocol (IP) flow class, a subscriber profile identity for the WTRU, requested quality of service, or a proximity indication indicating proximity to a cell supporting multi-RAT access mode. The WTRU may send a capability indication of support of multi-RAT access to a network, wherein the multi-RAT access mode is enabled based on the capability indication. A partial handover of bearers may be performed. In performing the handover, the target cell is determined based on a priority rule.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2012Date of Patent: October 3, 2017Assignee: InterDigital Patent Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Pascal M. Patent number: 9781543Abstract: Techniques are described that can be used for efficient mobility management signaling. In some cases, a network can specify an extended timer used for a machine to machine (M2M) type device to communicate with a network. The extended timer can be transmitted in connection with an attachment acceptance message, Location Updating Accept message, Tracking Area Update Accept, or Routing Area Update Accept message. In some cases, a timer can be adjusted using a multiplier in order to increase a period at which communications with the network occur. The network can transmit an indication to change a timer by multiplying the timer with the multiplier.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2014Date of Patent: October 3, 2017Assignee: Intel CorporationInventor: Puneet K.
