  • Patent number: 11617059
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing timely location estimates when a user equipment initiates a call to an emergency number are disclosed. The system enables a user equipment and network nodes (e.g., eSMLC/LMF) to send multiple location responses instead of just one so that the PSAP can benefit from accurate location techniques in a timely manner. For example, when a user equipment is located in an outdoor environment, it can immediately send its A-GNSS location after meeting quality-of-service (QoS) criteria, and the eSMLC/LMF can forward the location estimate to the PSAP immediately without first waiting for all of the other location estimates. When location estimates become available from other technologies (e.g., E-CID, or DBH, or both), the eSMLC/LMF can send to the PSAP another location response for that technology. As a result, the PSAP can always have the most accurate and up-to-date location information available to timely and accurately respond to emergency calls.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method and an apparatus in which an electronic device, which does not have a payment function, determines an electronic device most suitable for a current situation among neighboring electronic devices having a payment function, and can provide the determined electronic device to user. According to various embodiments, a server may generate a list comprising information on payment-capable devices related to an account of a user associated with a first electronic device. The list may be generated based on a priority for the payment-capable devices. The list may be transmitted to the first electronic device and a signal for selection of one of the payment-capable devices included in the list may be received from the first electronic device. A signal comprising information related to payment may be transmitted to the selected payment-capable device.

Abstract: A method of processing signal paths includes receiving an estimated location for a GNSS receiver in an environment. The method also includes generating a plurality of candidate positions about the estimated location where each candidate position corresponds to a possible actual location of the GNSS receiver. The method further includes, for each available satellite at each candidate position, modeling a plurality of candidate signal paths by ray-launching a raster map of geographical data. Here, the plurality of candidate signal paths includes one or more reflected signal paths. At each candidate position, the method also includes comparing, the plurality of candidate signal paths modeled for each available satellite at the respective candidate position to measured GNSS signal data from the GNSS receiver and generating a likelihood that the respective candidate position includes the actual location of the GNSS receiver based on the comparison.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus relating to the detection of one or more devices in zones, e.g., non-overlapping areas, are described. Individual device locations are made based on RSSI information. Whether a user is determined to be in a zone or not is determined based on location determinations corresponding to the device. Thresholds used to determine whether a device is to be considered as being within a zone differs depending on whether the device is newly detected in the zone or is already determined to be in the zone. In some embodiments it is easier to be determined to be in a zone than to be determined to have left a zone. A device may be determined to be in two non-overlapping zones at the same time thereby increasing the chance that devices in edge areas will be counted with regard to the number of devices for which resources should be provided.
