Based On Request Signal Patents (Class 455/456.2)
  • Patent number: 11665602
Abstract: Automatic cell discovery of a source radio access network (RAN) cell by a neighboring, target RAN by initiating a fake handover of a user equipment (UE) from a source RAN cell to a target RAN. A source RAN cell initiates a handover request using handover signaling to the target RAN(s). The handover request is a fake handover request without actual intention of handing over UE to the target RAN. The source RAN cell includes information in initiated handover request that can be used by target RAN to discover source RAN cell. The handover request will fail, because the handover request is not for any actual UE moving from the source RAN cell to the target RAN. However, the target RAN becomes aware of the source RAN cell as a result of this process and can add the source RAN cell (e.g., its EARFCN) to a list of its neighboring cells.

  • Patent number: 11647481
Abstract: Systems and methods of the present disclosure provide techniques to locate target devices. An electronic message is sent to a set of landmark devices, signaling each landmark device to transmit echo-request packets to a target device and to other landmark devices and measure network-communication delays. Indications of the network-communication delays are received from the set landmark devices. A first sequence is formed by sorting the set of landmark devices relative to the network-communication delays between the target device and each landmark device. For each respective landmark device, an additional sequence is formed by sorting other landmark devices relative to the network-communication delays between the respective landmark device and the other landmark devices. A sequence-matching operation is applied to the first sequence and the additional sequences to form a ranking of the set of landmark devices relative to the target device.

  • Patent number: 11641596
Abstract: In some implementations, a computing system can perform crowd sourced access point mapping using privacy preserving techniques. For example, a server device can receive access point data reports from multiple user devices that includes various attributes and/or measurements with respect to access points with which the user devices have established connections. The access point data reports can be delivered without identifying the user devices, or users thereof, and their exact locations. Based on the access point data reports, the server device can map locations of access points and relationships between access points to generate network topologies, network locations, network quality scores, and various other characteristics of networks and/or access points. The generated access point data can be served to user devices so that the user devices can improve the efficiency of the interactions between user devices and the detected access points and/or networks.

Abstract: A method and device for estimating the time of arrival (ToA) of a radio signal are proposed. The radio signal comprises M subsignals carried on M subcarriers, where M is an integer ?2. The number of propagation paths and the time of arrival associated with a first path are estimated. The technique can improve ToA estimation accuracy, especially in a multipath fading channel, and reduce the need for channel information.

  • Patent number: 11405863
Abstract: Methods and techniques are described for initiating a periodic and triggered location in a target UE. After LCS Client requests initiation of periodic and triggered location reporting from the UE, two intermediate responses are returned by a network. A first response indicates that the periodic and triggered location request has been received and accepted b the network. A second response indicates that periodic and triggered location has been activated in the UE. Additionally, a periodic and triggered location request may include a maximum event sampling interval and a maximum reporting interval and one or more location triggers. The maximum event sampling interval can limit UE power consumption and the maximum reporting interval can detect when periodic and triggered location is no longer active in a UE. The location triggers may include periodic reporting, reporting using area events or reporting based on UE motion.

The location data from the user equipment can undergo a shape conversion process prior to being transmitted to emergency services. The systems and methods evaluate the received location data to determine if a semimajor and a semiminor axis of the received location data are equal in magnitude. If so, the shape conversion process is bypassed to prevent error from being introduced into the location data.

  • Patent number: 11350236
Abstract: The disclosure pertains to minimizing delay when a customer seeks a ride in a ride-hail vehicle at a crowded venue where multiple customers are attempting to obtain rides in ride-hail vehicles. In an example procedure, a ride-hail service provider responds to a ride request originated from a personal device of the customer by providing a ride-ID code or some other form of ride-confirmation data. The customer enters any ride-hail vehicle at the crowded venue without interacting with the driver of the vehicle prior to getting into the vehicle. The personal device of the customer then uses communications such as Bluetooth® to execute a triangulation procedure for determining whether the personal device is inside the vehicle. Upon confirming that the personal device is inside the vehicle, the ride-ID code is automatically transmitted to a personal device of the driver and further communications may then be carried out for authenticating the ride.

Abstract: A system for prioritizing network resource dispatch may include receiving a request for a network resource from a mobile device associated with a user, the request comprising mobile device and user characteristics, and location information. A request priority may be determined based on some combination of a mobile device score and user score. The request priority is assigned to the request. A highest ranked mobile device request priority is determined, and the network resource is dispatched to a location corresponding to the highest ranked request priority. A heatmap may be generated to illustrate a geographical representation of each mobile device data usage rate at each mobile device respective location. The request priorities may change based on any combination of the mobile device characteristics, user characteristics, location information and the usage characteristics. Therefore, the priority of dispatching the network resource may be determined dynamically and updated as the inputs change.
