  • Patent number: 8717989
Abstract: Disclosed is a CCE+ number allocation method which reduces the ACK/NACK (Acknowledgment/Negative Acknowledgment) collision probability in a mixed system containing an LTE (Long Term Evolution) system and an LTE+ (Long Term Evolution Advanced) system. A CCE (Control Channel Element)+ number is defined by selecting a number from CCE numbers of the CCE to contain PDCCH (Physical Downlink Control Channel) allocated in a resource element region constituting CCE+ where PDCCH+ is arranged. This can prevent overlapped selection of the CCE number and the CCE+ number even when the PDCCH and the PDCCH+ are simultaneously transmitted. Thus, it is possible to reduce the collision probability of ACK/NACK correlated to the CCE number and the CCE+ number.

  • Patent number: 8693982
Abstract: A system manages subscribers' data of mobile telephones in a wireless network. Data servers are located according to geographic service areas, and each of the data servers may store subscribers' data of mobile telephones based on the respective geographic area. Location of subscribers' data is determined depending upon subscribers' ID, to which two or more Mobile telephone Numbers (MTNs) are assigned. Two or more MTNs may have different area codes for which subscribers' data are stored in at least two or more of the data servers. A terminal, for example, receives a user request calling for subscriber's data of a first MTN, retrieves a subscriber's ID corresponding to the first MTN from an Electronic Telephone Number Inventory (eTNI) database and sends a request containing the subscriber's ID. A router determines a first data server corresponding to the retrieved subscriber's ID and routes the request to the first data server.

Abstract: A method and arrangement for providing location information of a called mobile communication device to a calling party is implemented through a mobile device locator platform disposed in the communication network. A mobile device subscriber to the location service initiates a process where the location of his mobile device is updated on a regular basis and the location information stored in a database on the platform. When a call is placed to his subscribed device, the location information is transmitted to the calling party prior to setting up the call to the called device, allowing the calling party to determine whether or not to proceed with the call, as well as eliminating the need to ask the common question “where are you?” when placing a call to a mobile device.

  • Patent number: 8645187
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention is directed to retaining customers for a wireless-service provider (“carrier”). A ratio is calculated based on a number of incoming calls received by a mobile device and a number of outgoing calls originating from the mobile device. The ratio is also based on locations of callers that originated the incoming calls. The ratio is compared to an influencer threshold. When the ratio is greater than the influencer threshold, then a subscriber associated with the mobile device is indicated to be an influencer that potentially affects decisions of other subscribers regarding whether to cancel or maintain their subscriptions with the wireless service. An incentive is provided to the influencer to increase the likelihood that the influencer will retain a subscription with the wireless service, thereby increasing the likelihood that other subscribers who might be influenced by the influencer will retain their respective subscriptions.

Abstract: A temporary ENUM architecture assigns a temporary ENUM at call time. For an originated communication requiring routing to a party which needs a particular callback format not supported, the TempENUM provides consistency with the specific format required by the receiving party. The TempENUM is assigned for the duration of the call or communication, or for a given amount of time thereafter. The TempENUM service gateway includes a TempENUM database, a module that assigns a suitable TempENUM at the time of call routing, and a module that handles a lookup in the TempENUM database, and maps the assigned TempENUM to a calling party identifier (CgPID). The TempENUM database stores a TempENUM from a coordinator system and relates the actual calling party identifier (CgPID) for use in callback attempts. Either during the initial call or communication, or shortly thereafter, the receiving party uses the TempENUM number to return communication the initial caller.

The method of the invention for preventing IP address from unexpected dispersion when using point-to-point protocol effectively avoid excessive oscillation of a LCP state machine and a IPCP state machine by limiting times of the successful PPP LCP negotiation during the period of PPP LCP negotiation and times of the successful PPP IPCP negotiation.

  • Patent number: 8526977
Abstract: In one particular embodiment, the disclosure is directed to a method of processing a call. The method includes receiving location data, storing the location data in a data record, receiving a first call, playing an announcement, prompting for a caller's name, receiving the caller's name, and retrieving the data record. The location data is received via an interconnected network. The location data is derived from a proximity sensor that is configured to provide a proximity determination with respect to a mobile device of a subscriber and the proximity sensor. The first call is received at a primary destination address associated with the subscriber. The data record is retrieved to identify a selected address that identifies a communication device of the subscriber. The communication device is located within a proximity zone proximate to the proximity sensor.

Abstract: In a method for over-the-air provisioning of a mobile terminal in a wireless network, a first transaction between the mobile terminal and a web server is performed via an external port. During the first transaction, the mobile terminal obtains user subscription information for subscribing to network services. During a second transaction between the web server and the mobile terminal, the mobile terminal obtains device management information for authorizing the mobile terminal to access the network services. The first and second transactions are conducted via the same external port.

  • Patent number: 8499340
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for enabling secure communications between a UE (user equipment) device operating though a packet-switched network and a 3rd party service outside of the user's home domain. The packet-switched network may be, for example, configured according and IMS architecture and use SIP control signaling. An identity server in the user's home domain is coupled with a proxy server or gateway and receives control messages, on which the identity server effects identity translation if needed. Translating messages targeted for the third party serve includes stripping user identifying information and adding a domain identifier to the message. It may also include adding an identity token. Where an identity token is not added, it may be provided upon request to a 3rd party service entity. Translating messages targeted for the UE includes adding a user identifier for home domain routing.

Abstract: A system includes an event notification system coupled to a communication network element and to a subscription database. In response to a subscribe message for a party received from the communication network element, the event notification system determines at least one service from a plurality of services for the party from the subscription database, sends a service subscribe message to a device associated with a service for each service of the at least one service, determines a notification value for the party based on service pushed values received in response to each sent service subscribe message, and sends the notification value to the communication network element. The notification value is used by the communication network element to determine whether to invoke an internet protocol multimedia subsystem service for an incoming call to a communication address associated with the party.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method, system and apparatus of a smart device configured to determine higher-order context data. In one aspect, an apparatus includes a sensor to acquire a context data. The context data provides information of an attribute of an event within the range of the sensor. A processor analyzes an attribute of the context data and determines a higher-order context data. A message generator generates a supplemental context message transmittable through a network. The supplemental context message includes the higher-order context data. A network interface device communicatively couples the apparatus to the network.

Abstract: Communication with a member of a class is established based on the location of a mobile device initiating the communication and the physical address of the member. A class can include members that share common attributes, characteristics, and/or traits. Example classes can include business types (e.g., restaurants), brand names (BEST BUY®, COMPUSA®), services, etc. To establish the communication, the mobile device provides a message to set up a call. Upon receipt of the call setup message, a particular member of the class is selected from members of the class based on the location of the mobile device sending the call setup message and the physical addresses of members of the class. Upon determination of the particular member, communication is established between the mobile device and the particular member.
