Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured with a carrier aggregation (CA) configuration, which may include a large number of component carriers (CCs). Some of the CCs may be designated as basis CCs, and may have a flexible control channel configuration, while other CCs may be designated as supplemental CCs with a restricted control channel configuration. The restricted control channels may have a reduced number of decoding candidates, which may reduce the complexity and increase the likelihood of successfully decoding the control channels. For example, the restricted control channels may be limited to a subset of aggregation levels, a reduced control region, or other restrictions. In some cases, the CCs may be grouped into basis CCs and supplemental CCs based on physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) groups or based on CCs that utilize enhanced physical downlink control channels (ePDCCH).

When the portable computer system goes out of coverage, broadcast channels used by the wireless network are scanned by the DSP instead of the main processor to identify channels that have sufficient signal strength for the wireless connection. Thus, the main processor remains in the low power mode. When the DSP identifies acceptable channels, it wakes up the main processor and identifies the channels having sufficient signal strength. Abstract: A supporting radio base station (100) comprises an IQ sample provider (110) for extracting, in a selected subset of the available frequency band (A) and/or from a selected subset of the available antennas (B), so-called complementary IQ samples based on received radio signals including a radio signal originating from an uplink transmission of at least one UE served by a serving radio base station (200). The supporting radio base station (100) comprises an IQ sample transmitter (120) for transmitting the complementary IQ samples to the serving radio base station (200) to enable the serving radio base station to decode user data of the uplink transmission based on the complementary IQ samples together with own IQ samples provided by the serving radio base station (200). This will provide significant savings of bit rate for the exchange of IQ samples between the radio base stations.

Abstract: A wireless terminal transmits a result of measuring received power of a downlink wireless signal from a femtocell base station to a macrocell base station. The macrocell base station transmits an interference control request including identification information of the wireless terminal to a femtocell base station group of which received power of a downlink signal included in a measurement result transmitted from the wireless terminal is a predetermined value or more. The femtocell base station has an adjacent wireless terminal list in which identification information of a wireless terminal, which is capable of being connected to an adjacent femtocell base station but is not capable of being connected to the femtocell base station, is recorded, and downlink transmission power of the femtocell base station is reduced when the identification information included in the interference control request is included in this list.

  • Patent number: 9020555
Abstract: A system and method for dynamically optimizing the performance of indoor distributed antenna systems communicate to user equipment is disclosed. The user equipment measures information describing the downlink signals such as the downlink data rates, the quality of the received signal, and the location of the user equipment. A service module collects this information and determines an optimized power level for each of the antenna units. The service module may optimize only one antenna unit power level or a subset of the antenna units within the distributed antenna system in a preferred embodiment. One or more of the antenna units then transmits downlink signals with the optimized power levels. The optimized power level may be less than the initial power level in a preferred embodiment. As a result, the performance of the indoor distributed antenna systems is enhanced.

  • Patent number: 8996056
Abstract: Each of a plurality of wireless communication apparatuses determines a factor that indicates wireless communication congestion and compares the factor that indicates wireless communication congestion with a predetermined first threshold value. Each wireless communication apparatus then judges, by means of transmission power set values that are received from other wireless communication apparatuses, whether the transmission power of the wireless communication apparatuses is at the same level as or at a lower level than that of its own wireless communication apparatus. The wireless communication apparatus lowers the transmission power set value by one level when the transmission power of other wireless communication apparatuses is at the same level as or at a lower level than that of its own wireless communication apparatus and when the factor that indicates wireless communication congestion exceeds a first threshold value.

Abstract: A network node determines one or more parameters related to a Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) target, where SAR is a measure of a maximum energy or power absorbed by a unit of mass of tissue exposed to radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic field (EMF) radiation generated as a result of radio transmissions generated by a UE. The network node generates content for a message for transmission to the UE including the determined one or more SAR-related parameters to be applied by a transmitter in the UE. Based on those one or more SAR-related parameters, the UE determines and implements an action in order to meet the SAR target. Other example embodiments permit the UE to determine the SAR-related parameters in other ways.
