Coupling Transmits Torque Via Axially Directed Pin Radially Spaced From Rotational Axis Patents (Class 464/137)
  • Patent number: 5842844
Abstract: A scroll type compressor includes a stationary scroll element, a movable scroll element orbiting about a given axis and cooperating with the stationary scroll element for compressing a fluid in a compression chamber defined between the two scroll elements, and a rotation preventing unit for preventing rotation of the movable scroll element about its own axis. The rotation preventing unit has at least a plurality of pairs of scroll side pins mounted on the movable scroll element and housing side pins mounted on a housing of the compressor. When the compression chamber has a reduced volume of 10 through 22% of an initial volume thereof immediately after completion of sucking of the fluid, at least two of the plurality of scroll side pins are arranged to be symmetrical with one another with respect to a line L.sub.2 which passes through a rotating center O.sub.R of the movable scroll element and is perpendicular to a different line L.sub.1 which passes through the rotating center O.sub.

Abstract: A scroll type compressor comprises a housing and a fixed scroll. A movable scroll is incorporated therebetween, eccentrically engaging with the fixed scroll, and has a rotating center and a revolving center. Pin members are arranged on the end plate of the movable scroll and on the housing. At least one of the pin members of the movable scroll is positioned on a first line and disposed downstream of the corresponding pin member of the housing in the rotating direction, when the volume ratio of a compression chamber is from 10 to 22 percent of the volume of the compression chamber at the time of the conclusion of the suction of medium. The first line passes through the rotating center and is perpendicular to a second line, which passes through the rotating and revolving centers. The compressor also has annular ring members, which contact at least a pair of the pin members of the movable scroll and the housing, to prevent the movable scroll from rotating.

Abstract: A flexible shaft coupling has first and second hubs provided with outwardly extending flanges formed at ends of cylindrical parts of the hubs. Each may be connected to a transmission shaft. The flange of the first hub has a plurality of spring holes therein located within the periphery thereof. A holder is fitted over the cylindrical part of the first hub and fixed to the flange of the second hub so as to hold the flange of the first hub between the holder and the flange of the second hub. Barrel-shaped coil springs pass through the spring holes in the flange of the first hub. Each barrel-shaped coil spring is compressed between the second hub and the holder so that the coil springs deflect to bring adjoining coils thereof into contact with each other when torque is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 5251876
Abstract: An improved tire lift mechanism is disclosed in which a drive tube selectively rotates a driven shaft to raise and lower a cable fixed to a spare tire. The drive tube is connected to the driven shaft through a connection formed of a plurality of circumferentially-spaced pins which are received within notches in the driven shaft. Spaces are provided between the drive pins. Liquids in the area of the connection drain outwardly of the spaces and do not freeze in the area, which could prevent use of the tire lift mechanism. A spring is disposed between the driven shaft and the drive tube to eliminate looseness, and resultant rattling. Finally, a method of assembling the tire lift mechanism is disclosed in which the drive tube is formed of a pair of telescopic tube members. The members are telescopically moved relative to each other to a collapsed position, and the mechanism is fixed to the underside of a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4708692
Abstract: A flexible all-steel shaft coupling has two coupling halves each comprising a connecting flange and which are axially and angularly movable but antitorsionally connected to each other through a yieldable stapled lamella crown connected to the connecting flanges. Each connection of the stapled lamella crown with one of flanges consists of a bolt on which rests, in clamped position between spacer rings, the stapled lamella crown on a spring collet provided with a conical press seat. Due to its conical support on the bolt, the conical spring collet is radially expanded and transmits radial pretension into bores of the stapled lamella crown. Due to the tolerance-free support of the stapled lamella crown on the bolt, and due to radial pretension in the bores of the stapled lamella crown, the shaft coupling may be easily mounted without precision machning and without tolerance on the support seats, while expansions and ovalizations of the bores, which lead to ruptures due to notch corrosion are prevented.
