Receptacle For Growing Medium Patents (Class 47/65.5)
  • Patent number: 9003699
Abstract: A cover for a plant-growing medium comprises a main cover portion, a peripheral base spaced from the main cover portion and defining an outer perimeter of the cover, and a peripheral wall extending from a first side of the main cover portion between the main cover portion and the peripheral base. One or more plant growth channels are defined by one or more tubes extending from the first side of the main cover portion. Each tube has a proximal end adjacent the main cover portion and a distal end relative to the proximal end, with a first aperture defined in the main cover portion at the proximal end of the tube and a second aperture defined at the distal end of the tube. The first aperture and the second aperture communicate through the tube to define each plant growth channel.

Abstract: A novel, improved plant support devise, that is universally adaptable for holding one or more plants. This planter's pot is specifically designed for placement upon the top of any 4×4 inch object. Examples of objects it is intended for mating with may include the top of fence posts and/or mailbox posts. Said planter's pot is architecturally designed with a 4×4 inch, introverted opening in the center of the base of the pot. When met with, for instance, the top of a 4×4 inch fence post, the planter's pot introverted internal cavity would mate with the pot. It would sit, combined with the 4×4 inch object. No additional attachment devices are needed to secure such planter pot to its base.

Abstract: A plant culture box assembly is composed of a box and an upper cover. The box includes a bottom portion, a first peripheral wall, and a fastening portion. The first peripheral wall is connected with a peripheral edge of the bottom portion, so that an opening is formed between the first peripheral wall and the bottom portion. The fastening portion is annularly formed at an external side of the first peripheral wall. The upper cover includes a top portion and a second peripheral wall. The top portion is mounted to the opening. The second peripheral wall is connected with a peripheral edge of the top portion and tightly combined with the fastening portion to enable the first peripheral wall, the fastening portion, and the second peripheral wall to jointly define an isolated space. In this way, the box and the upper cover can have preferable airtight effect therebetween.

Abstract: A plant pot and support structure for supporting a plant growing in the pot including the plant pot, at least one pillar connected to the plant pot, and at least one mesh supported by and connected to the pillar. The plant grows upwardly through, and is supported by, the mesh. The pillars are connected to and supported by the plant pot. The mesh is suspended in a horizontal plane allowing the plant to grow up and through the openings in the mesh, which in turn provides support to the plant. In doing so, the plant does not need to divert its growth resources toward strengthening its stalk and can maximize its fruit or flowering yield. In another embodiment, there is disclosed a plant pot having a sidewall that includes at least one bore extending downwardly along the sidewall.

Abstract: A cage protects the roots of a pond plant planted in a pot from fish and other animals. If the roots are eaten, the plant will die. The pot has a rim and the pot resides on the bottom of a pond. The pond plant has a plurality of stems and each stem has a leaf. The cage covers the top of the pot so that the fish cannot gain access to the roots. In one embodiment the cage includes two sections that are connected together and to the rim of the pot. In another embodiment the cage is a single piece. In both embodiments the leaves of the pond plant are rolled up and passed upwardly through a grid of the cage.

  • Publication number: 20140137941
Abstract: Solar-redshift systems comprise an integral array of redshift modules, each having at least a focusing device, a target, and a quantum-dot vessel. The quantum-dot vessel contains quantum dots that emit light having an emission wavelength. The focusing device directs incident solar radiation through a focusing gap and toward the quantum-dot vessel, or into a slab waveguide and then toward the quantum-dot vessel, causing the quantum dots to emit redshifted light having the emission wavelength. The redshifted light is directed to the target, examples of which include a photovoltaic material or a living photosynthetic organism. The target has increased sensitivity or response to photons having the wavelength of the redshifted light. A trapping reflector component of the quantum-dot vessel prevents loss of redshifted light to the environment outside the solar-redshift system and allows undesirable infrared light to be removed from the system.
