Threshold Patents (Class 49/467)
  • Publication number: 20080222961
Abstract: A threshold assembly is disposed below a closure. The threshold assembly includes a sill having a first end and a second end spaced from each other and having an entry portion sloping downwardly from a proximate end to a distal end between the first and second ends. A pair of jamb pedestals are disposed at the first and second ends of the sill, respectively. Each jamb pedestal supports a jamb spaced above the sill. A first wall extends upwardly from the proximate end of the entry portion and a second wall extends upwardly from the sill and along the first wall to define a channel extending longitudinally between the jamb pedestals. The first wall defines an opening which establishes fluid communication from the channel to the entry portion of the sill between the jamb pedestals for directing water from the channel away from the threshold assembly along the entry portion.

  • Patent number: 7290371
Abstract: A locking strut for use on sliding doors, windows and other sliding closures. The locking strut is supplementary to any closure lock. The strut has at least one receiver in the bottom surface to receive one or more guide rails included in the guide channel of the casement. The apparatus also preferably includes a hold or holds that allow easier insertion and handling. One strut may be used in the casement both when the sliding door is in the open position and the closed position. This is allowed by having one end received in the casement upright in a first orientation for a first slider position. The other end does not fit within the casement in a second slider position. This allows the strut to serve as both a supplementary locking device and as a threshold cover to exclude debris from the guide channel when the slider is open.

  • Patent number: 7082725
Abstract: In recent decades within the building industry, there has been a trend toward mass production of building components. The trend has included every part of structures except for the concrete slab the building is built on. The “Threshold Tray and Clip System” uses mass-produced products to be applied to construction of slabs and foundations, allowing sill steps to be built in rough openings with pre-fabricated form parts. The forms remain in the concrete and are permanent. This means that consistent results can be expected. Other mass-produced products, such as door systems, will fit into rough openings more accurately. Over-all quality of the structure will be increased.

  • Patent number: 4956940
Abstract: An improved bottom offset door pivot is disclosed which comprises an elongated threshold and a door pivot body. The threshold has a keyway formed therein in a direction generally parallel to the axis of elongation of the threshold. The door pivot body has a pivot spindle projecting upwardly therefrom for pivotably mounting a lower portion of a door to the pivot body. The pivot body further has a hook formed thereon configured to mechanically hook into the keyway in the threshold. A flange formed on the lower surface of the pivot body engages a groove formed in the upper surface of the threshold. The flange is disposed relative to the pivot spindle such that when the flange engages the keyway, the pivot spindle is properly offset with respect to the threshold. In the disclosed embodiment, when the lateral edge of the pivot body abuts the vertical door jamb, the pivot spindle is properly offset with respect to the doorjamb.

  • Patent number: 4807392
Abstract: A threshold poison bait station having an opening or openings in a threshold frame that are narrow in width and short in length. "V" shaped directing guides are connected to the openings thereby preventing direct, straight line access from interior openings to exterior openings and also thereby creating an enclosed insect access channel which directs insects along the channel to an interior poison bait receiving station. By extending one of the "V" shaped directing guides in length, a deep, dark, interior poison bait receiving station, which is very attractive to insects, is provided. While the device may be "armed" with the poison bait of the user's choice, little fear of contact with the poison bait by children or pets arises because the openings are so small yet so attractive to insects. In another form, a permanent division is placed dividing the threshold poison bait station in two and preventing access from the interior to the exterior, or vice versa, by insects.
