Orbiting Work Supply Reels Patents (Class 493/300)
  • Patent number: 6106451
Abstract: A method of producing a rectangular cross-section cardboard tubing by passing a plurality of cardboard strips having a thermoplastic coating thereon through a heating unit so as to hear the plurality of strips and melt the thermoplastic coating. Thereafter, the plurality of heated strips are passed through a guiding unit so as to align the strips in an overlapped configuration. The aligned plurality of strips are wound around an elongated, rectangular cross-section, rotating core so as to place the plurality of strips in an overlapped, spiral configuration along the core and form a tubing. The tubing is fed along the core, and a cutting unit cuts the tubing into lengths.

  • Patent number: 4917660
Abstract: Tows of fibers are wrapped around a mandrel or a central fiber core to form a cylindrical filter. At least one belt is located in position to make essentially linear contact with the cylindrical filter, and the at least one belt is driven so as to draw the tows of fiber onto and wrap the mandrel or the central fiber core and so as to move the cylindrical filter axially relative to the mandrel or with the central fiber core.

  • Patent number: 4870804
Abstract: Method of forming a parallelepiped container from a roll of packaging material by sequentially folding and sealing the longitudinal edge of the paper material, forming corners in the web of material, cutting the material into flat tubes, sealing the bottom of the tubes on a mandrel, filling the bottom sealed tube and sealing the top of the filled tube.

  • Patent number: 4438643
Abstract: The method of forming tubes from strip in which a complementary rib and groove are spaced apart to each extend longitudinally on the strip and oppositely facing on the said strip characterized by guiding the strip into a helical configuration to overlap the edges of the said strip, and pressing together the overlapping parts of the said strip while maintaining a differential pressure in the direction of feed to force the strip together under such differential pressure.

  • Patent number: 4371368
Abstract: In the manufacture of explosive fusecord stranded reinforcing wrapping material is helically spun around an encased fusecord core by advancing the fusecord core axially through at least one supply reel of wrapping material and training at least one strand of wrapping material from the reel around the fusecord core by means of a driven flyer rotating around the fusecord core. Strands of wrapping material may be trained from two or more supply reels preferably mounted in line co-axially with the path of the fusecord core. The method permits faster production than can be achieved by the conventional method wherein the wrapping material is applied from supply reels rotating orbitally around the path of the fusecord core.

  • Patent number: 4261785
Abstract: Disclosed is a pipe wrapper and cleaner or similar apparatus which includes a rotatable drum with an axial linear slot or gap therein which may be supported on and rotated about an elongated body such as a pipe by casters carried by the drum and engaging the elongated body to support the drum concentrically thereabout. An outwardly projecting flange encircles the drum with a gap therein coincident with the gap in the drum. The drum is rotated by a pair of drive gears powered by synchronous motors and placed circumferentially apart by an arcuate distance greater than the arcuate length of the gap in the flange.
