Bedclothing Patents (Class 5/923)
  • Patent number: 5621931
Abstract: A bedskirt assembly made up of a non-slip grip deck made from non-slip fabric with releasable fasteners. The grip deck is installed between the mattress and box springs of the bed and stabilizes the location of the mattress relative to the box springs and provides for easy attachment of segments of skirting, in one panel or several panels. The position of the panels is adjustable for height and length and to suit individual bedframes. The skirt panels can be quickly and easily removed and replaced without having to remove the mattress from the box springs.

  • Patent number: 5566410
Abstract: A quick sealing pillow cover, which is an improvement over U.S. Pat. No. 4,144,603, is provided with retainer portions in the one open edge and hook and loop closure, such as Velcro, on the inside flaps of the opening forming the open edge. Quick sealing is accomplished merely by, simultaneously pulling the corners of the retainer portions on the side with the opening in opposite directions with just one snap of the wrists. The pillow is retained in the cover without slipping out even during vigorous physical activity by the user. With the pillow removed and the pillow cover sealed, the hook and loop closure means provides sufficient rigidity to the pillow cover that the physical symmetry of the pillow cover during washing and drying or cleaning cycles is maintained and the cover may be reused without pressing (ironing) or folding.

  • Patent number: 5540480
Abstract: A seat assembly to permit the look of a seat to be easily changed includes a seat body including sides, upholstery covering at least a portion of the seat body, a strip of a hook-type hook-and-loop fastener secured to and extending circumferentially around the sides of the seat body, a ribbon of upholstery backed to a strip of loop-type hook-and-loop fastener, and a removable skirt element including a band of a width wider than the ribbon, the band having one side backed to a strip of loop-type hook-and-loop fastener. Loose pillows on the seat body have a covering on one side of a formal look and a covering on a reverse side of a casual look, whereby the ribbon of upholstery or the band of upholstery may be selectively mounted to the seat body by joining the hook-and-loop type fasteners to permit the look of the seat to be easily changed from a skirtless to a skirted look and the pillows may be displayed as desired to complement the skirted or skirtless look.

  • Patent number: 5396672
Abstract: A combination surgical table and protective cover is disclosed in which a surgical table is provided with one or more cushions for supporting a patient. A protective cover is coupled to each cushion and to the surgical table, thereby minimizing surface contamination of each cushion and the table. Each protective cover has a connecting portion which couples the protective cover to both the surgical table and to each cushion. A shielding section has a general shape which is substantially equivalent to the shape of each cushion for shielding each cushion and the table from the contamination. Flow guides are coupled to the shielding section for directing contamination away from each cushion and away from the surgical table.

  • Patent number: 5321862
Abstract: Bedclothes which have been modified by affixing thereto connecting means which are positioned to guide the placement of the bedclothes on the mattress. When connectors are aligned along the periphery of the mattress, the bedclothes are properly centered and positioned with the correct amount of overhang on three sides. The connectors on one article of bedclothes coact with those on the next layer to position that layer and hold the layers together as a unit. Bedclothes may be removed and replaced as a unit or singly and they may be tucked under the mattress or not as the user dictates. The method of bedmaking utilizing the bedclothes may be performed visually or tactilely.

  • Patent number: 5289602
Abstract: A water mattress lining and sheeting system includes a water impervious liner which forms a compartment for holding a water-filled mattress, and a flat mattress covering. The mattress covering and liner are joined by a zipper at the top perimeter margin of the liner for easy access by a user. Alternatively, the covering may be zipped directly to the water mattress by means of a top perimeter flange integrally coupled to the mattress. For use of the system with a conventional mattress, a zipper track is attached to the perimeter margin of three sides of the mattress. A mattress cover is similarly provided on three sides with a zipper track and a cuff depends from the remaining side for receiving the zipperless side of the mattress.
