Abstract: Sulfonamides of the formula I ##STR1## where A is an unsubstituted or substituted aromatic or heteroaromatic radical; W is oxygen or sulfur; B is an unsubstituted or substituted furyl, thienyl, pyrrolyl, oxazolyl, isothiazolyl, imidazolyl, pyrazolyl, thiadiazolyl, oxadiazolyl or triazolyl radical, and the environmentally compatible salts thereof are prepared as described and are used as herbicides.
