Abstract: Provided are aqueous hard surface cleaning and disinfecting composition which comprises the following constituents: (a) at lease one cationic surfactant having germicidal properties; and (b) a fluorosurfactant selected from the group of nonionic fluorosurfactant, cationic fluorosurfactant, and mixtures thereof, and (c) a film-forming, organosilicone quaternary ammonium compound. Optionally the compositions may further include (d) one or more detersive surfactants particularly selected from carboxylate surfactants, as well as nonionic, cationic and amphoteric surfactants, (e) one or more organic solvents, and further conventional additives. The compositions provide good sanitization of hard surfaces, and good cleaning notwithstanding the surprisingly low amount of fluorosurfactant present.

  • Patent number: 6268327
Abstract: Aqueous disinfecting and cleaning compositions and concentrates which are efficacious against gram positive and gram negative bacteria, have relatively low volatile organic content (“VOC”) and are surprisingly mild to the user of the compositions. The compositions include a quaternary ammonium compound as its primary germicidal active agent, have a low content of active constituents, and do not include organic solvents such as alcohols, glycols, or glycol ethers in significant amounts.

  • Patent number: 6239092
Abstract: Acidic, thickened cleaning and disinfecting compositions which exhibit good long term shelf stability, are particularly effective in the removal of limescale from hard surfaces, and which are effective against gram positive and gram negative bacteria. The compositions comprise one or more nonionic surfactants; one or more quaternary ammonium surfactant compounds having germicidal properties; an acid mixture comprising formic acid and one or more water soluble organic acids, particularly water soluble organic acids selected from the group consisting of: lactic acid, citric acid, glycolic acid and where the formic acid and one or more water soluble organic acids are present in a weight ratio of formic acid: formic acid:water soluble organic acid(s) of 1:0.1-10; a cellulose based thickening composition; optionally but desirably a one or more conventional additives such as a coloring agent, fragrance or pH adjusting agent; and, water.

  • Patent number: 6191094
Abstract: An alkaline aqueous cleaning composition for cleaning a substrate contaminated with industrial-type soil contaminants contains (i) an aqueous portion and (ii) an active-ingredient portion composed of (A) an alkalinity-providing agent and (B) a surfactant mixture containing (a) an active concentration of an ethoxylated C12-14 alkanol surfactant having an HLB value at 25° C. of from 8 to 12 and (b) an active concentration of at least one aminocarboxylic acid surfactant of the general formula R—N(H)—R′, wherein R is a straight or branched chain aliphatic organic group having from 10 to 20 carbon atoms, and R′ is a straight or branched chain carboxylic acid having from 1 to 7 carbon atoms. At an active-concentration ratio of surfactant (a) to surfactant (b) of about 2.5:1, the surfactants have a synergistic effect on the cleaning composition's ability to remove certain types of industrial-soil contaminants.
