Abstract: An insecticidal composition comprising stabilized pyrethrins or pyrethroids is provided. Such composition includes stabilizing effective amount of N,N-dialkyl fatty acid amide solvents and certain ultraviolet-light absorbers. In such composition, the pyrethrins or pyrethroid can retain their insecticidal activity for an acceptably long period of time. Therefore, an advantage of this invention is to provide a topical pyrethrins or pyrethroid based insecticide which can remain effective in light over a long time period. Another advantage of this invention is to provide a stabilized topical pyrethrins or pyrethroid insecticide insecticidal formulation containing a high concentration of the active pyrethrins or pyrethroid ingredient to minimize the volume of formulation required.

Abstract: A pesticide granule is provided that includes a base carrier particle. A liquid pesticide coating is applied to the particle surface. The coating may contain adjuvants. The coating has sufficient tack to adhere a second powdered pesticide to the carrier particle. The usage of tackifying agents to render the particle surface tacky enough to adhere powdered pesticide is reduced or eliminated. The powdered pesticide is sized to a mean diameter of less than 10% of the carrier diameter to promote adhesion. The synergistic rapid acting pesticide delivery associated with the granule results in the usage of less pesticide to control a given pest with reduced environmental impact. Bifenthrin is a representative of the liquid pesticide.

  • Patent number: 7906535
Abstract: A topical insecticide preparation is provided which can be safe to use and avoids many common deleterious side effects of conventional topical insecticides. The topical insecticide contains a combination of a first pyrethroid insecticide effective for killing fleas, a second pyrethroid insecticide effective for killing ticks, and an insect growth regulator (IGR). The topical insecticide preparation can be packaged together or packaged so that the first and second pyrethroid insecticides are stored separately prior to administration of the insecticide preparation to the animal. The combination of the first and second pyrethroid insecticides with an insect growth regulator results in an insecticide preparation formulated to have enhanced insecticidal activity against fleas and ticks compared to the effectiveness of the first and second insecticides used alone.

Abstract: Disclosed are substrates suited for dispensing air treatment chemicals upon being heated. Granular particles, preferably sand with a phenolic binder, are adhered together to form a substrate body having a network of pores. A volatile air treatment chemical is disposed in the pores. The particle size and pores are such that the smaller particles of the substrate are grouped at one end, preferably an end adjacent to a projecting nose. This structure tends to wick the volatile air treatment chemical towards the nose, and heating that area can lead to efficient, and rechargeable, dispensing. Methods for using such substrates, and methods for forming such substrates, are disclosed.

Abstract: A semi-flexible insecticide strip is removably attached to the belt of a pelt collar to regenerate a pest-killing medicament and increase its efficacy. The strip is secured to the belt surface that faces the animal skin or fur by attachment loops or edged retainers that are generally perpendicular to the length direction of the belt. Due to the geometry and elasticity of the semi-flexible insecticide strip, and its attachment method, the strip contacts the skin or fur of the animal despite movement of the pet collar when the animal is being exercised with a pet leash attached thereto. The contact effectively transfers the insecticide and kills ticks and fleas or retards development of mature flea adults. The insecticide is contained within a plurality of plastic pores of the insecticide strip or in a sponge affixed thereto.

  • Publication number: 20100029725
Abstract: Insect refuge strategies are described for the management of insect resistance development. The present invention relates generally to the control of pests that cause damage to crop plants, and in particular to corn plants, by their feeding activities directed to root damage, and more particularly to the control of such plant pests by exposing target pests to seeds or mixtures of seeds having multiple different modes of action. The first one or more transgenes and the second one or more transgenes are each, respectively, insecticidal to the same target insect but have different modes of action, and bind either semi-competitively or non-competitively to different binding sites in the target pest. In addition, the treatment of such seed with a chemical or peptide-associated pesticide prior to planting the seed is also disclosed.
